^^This--right there with you! Now make them in a size 5.

Wow, you look awesome--and it is inspiring to see the change in your body in a year. Thanks for sharing!

I can understand your reaction, it's one I've had with my husband getting into things I am buying for a treat for myself, especially when his treats are ready and available. Luckily, I mentioned it once, and now he does not eat me out of house and home. With a teenaged kid, it may take more than one mention.

Great NSV! Congratulations!

I'm 5' tall and started at 160. When I was 2 months into Stronglifts I had noticeable fat loss, clothing size reduction. I think you should see good results from Strong lifts, assuming you eat at a caloric deficit.

Heavy lifting has helped me shed fat, and shrink in inches, quite a bit. I started with a program (also a group here) called Strong lifts. It's the basic compound moves. Wishing you many strong days ahead!

Awesome results! You look so happy, and beautiful! Congratulations!

I do. Even changing immediately after. Often I need something hot to drink, and I have been known to use a heating pad to warm up. For me, it seems to be related to food, too. I find it difficult to eat on days I work out hard, I'm just not hungry at all. So I find if I eat it's better. If all else fails, a hot shower or…

Awesome job! So inspiring, you are looking fabulous. Thank you for sharing!

I had problems with the same thing about 3 months in to strong lifts. I went to my chiropractor who also does sports medicine, and he really worked on my flexors, much better than I could. I ended up due to these and tendon recovery issues not being able to do stronglifts 3x a week, not enough repair time when the weights…

Absolutely love thrift stores and consignment shops. We have a plethora in the area. Haven't bought anything new in over a year unless you count a bathing suit and undies, socks, shoes. One in store in particular here is awesome with major designers, Dior, St. John's, etc. Most of the high end stuff is even tagged, never…

Awesome results! Congratulations! Even your scoliosis looks improved.

This describes me, except I am 49. I have my calorie intake set to my BMR (1283), I log my excercise cals and actually do try to eat them back. It isn't always easy for me to do that. At the end of the day when I have had all I want and log in the dinner, I am usually surpised on excercise days that I did not meet goal,…

I went the trainer route. If I had been more active and confident prior to starting to work out, I may have felt I could watch Medhi and film my own progress to check form. As it was, I was a noobie to excercise of any kind, not just lifting, and needed a goodly amount of work just to be able to begin using the stronglifts…

Lifting Top or bottom?

I agree, don't weigh during. For me it was always after it was over than woosh-it would leave. BUT NOW I don't even have the woosh to look forward to.... Aunt Flo hasn't visited since November.

For me it was at around 10 lbs. I'm pretty short at 5', and I've lost the weight doing mostly strength training, so my inches have decreased quite a bit, vs the number on the scale. I'm very happy I chose to focus on lifting, it has really made the difference.

To the OP, the back pain you mention is concerning to me. I myself have lower back issues, and it does prevent me from going over 135 in squats. I just try to mix it up a bit, I use a hack squat machine 1x weekly, where I can squat around 280, but my back is completely supported, and I do not have pain. I also do lunges…

Love pb2, use it for baking, mixing in protein shakes, make up as peanut butter. It's a very low cal, low carb way to enjoy the peanut butter flavor that I really love but hate the calories, carbs and fat.

Someone else said a foam roller helps, and I have to second that. I had DOMS pretty bad for at least the first couple of weeks. I still get it when I take a long break and lift again. I just make sure I use the roller after every session, and I mean every session, and I make sure I warm up properly, and stretch AFTER not…

Personally, I love Kettlebells. There are no classes around here, but I found a very good vid on Amazon, Lauren Brookes--very good, really details the moves so you don't hurt yourself, that is important.

I have not noticed that, but I did find out something that was pretty scary. Because of other factors, I have Chronic Kidney disease, and my blood work is monitored fairly regularily. Recent blood work came back with a massive increase in my BUN and Creatinine levels. (I don't use any supplements). Anyway, the kidney doc…

I too love the hack squat machine--and can do much more weight on it vs w/the oly bar. I use them both, and am mindful of my lower back limitations, and tailor my workouts to accomodate them.
-
Also, if you are not using the big plates, the bar is not high enough, and you will need to put some plates under the ends of the bar to have it at the correct level so you don't feel it in your back vs. your glutes and hamstrings.
-
I agree also that cleans are such a drain on the body, it does detract from the lift, however, I do like to do them just for the major workout they give --just not everytime I OHP. I usually use the rack.
-
You can still get really good results just from barbells, as long as you are using enough weight. It won't be the stronglifts program per se, but alot can be done, even good compound moves with barbells. As Tameko2 says, they are much harded to work with than the oly bar and both hands working together.

Overall goal 20% body fat. shorter term goals work out 5 times a week, consistently Drop 20 lbs by the end of May, or at least look like I did--I honestly don't care what I weigh, its more how I look, the space by body takes up.
