Hi I'm at about 40 pounds so close enough. FR sent

Now I can't speak for the Air Force, but I know how the Army works. But with this piece I doubt there's much of a difference. They had minimum fitness requirements to start basic training (it wasn't hard. Like 25 pushups, 25 situps, and be able to run a mile in 9 minutes). But when you actually get to basic, the drill…

I drink mine black. But it's up there with beer and red wine...no one likes it at first. But once you acquire the taste, it's one of the most awesome tastes in the world!

Once upon a time my doctor said my thyroid was borderline low. Not quite to the point where I needed synthroid, but close. He told me to take a Vit B12 every day because in some people it has been known to help. It helped a little with me However, all it did was delay needing synthroid for a few years.

All the above stuff is good. But bottom line, you want bones to be stronger: Calcium, zinc, magnesium, vit D3. Calcium because your bones are mostly calcium. Magnesium and Vit D3 because those are needed for your body to process calcium. Zinc because your body needs it to process magnesium, plus there's a good amount of…

Sent both a FR here and on fitbit :D

I would need a little more info about what kind of knee pain you're having. If it's a dull ache that hurts during movement, but not with weight on it especially when going up stairs, then it's probably runner's knee. That can be caused by a few things. 1. Running too far too soon. For example, if you haven't run in years…

Almost right. Limit saturated and enjoy any unsaturated (poly or mono). Saturated fat raises the LDL (bad) cholesterol (which is why MFP has a recommendation macro for it) while unsaturated fats have either no effect or a lowering effect (why there's no recommendation for it)

Ugh.....43. Not was I was hoping

Your best bet is running shoes designed for overproners with a hard insole. Superfeet or Powerstep are good ones.

That's good you're asking for help. Maybe we can help each other out. FR sent!

Yes that is true too. My HR always runs higher than the standard HR formulas say it should when running. So it's helpful to know, but you need to learn where you normally run before it is all that meaningful

Well you can use intervals of run/walk to get going. Once a week do a "long run" day where you focus on distance. Run 10 minutes, then walk for 1 minute. Add a little bit longer each time, and when you get to a distance you want to run, then start either shrinking your walk interval or lengthening the run intervals between…

I had a VERY similar issue that actually developed into ligamentous laxity and tendonitis, which sent me into physical therapy. All this was from years of not properly treating repeated ankle sprains (thanks Army...grrrr). Anyway, there are a couple of ways to go. One is go to a podiatrist and get fitted for custom…

Hi Katy. I actually understand your situation. I was a half-marathoner and well life got in the way and have been fighting for about 4 months now to get back in it. FR sent!

Just get back on the wagon and restart the good habits. Feel free to add me!

Hawai'i has always TECHNICALLY been how it is spelled, just people get lazy. Plus the apostrophe doesn't fit into any of the rules of English. But if you sound the word out, you will notice you pronounce the "I" at the end twice, hence why the apostrophe is there.

You know if you're just carrying it for personal protection, sometimes "accidentally" showing you are carrying is better completely hiding it

Army vet and gradually put on pounds (even though I switched from active to national guard). So I feel your pain!

If it was a not-so-fishy tasting ocean fish it was probably cod, haddock, or mahi-mahi.

YakTrax are OK to run in, but they are MUCH better for walking across the parking lot....but really, find a treadmill. Running on ice is not the smartest thing to do

I generally let fitbit track everything, and logged exercise on fitbit's site. What I found happens is if you log exercise on myfitnesspal, calories would get counted on MFP, then again in the fitbit calorie adjustment. In other words, calories burned would get double-counted

I'm in as well! My goal is about 5 pounds by Christmas (2-3 kg). My problem is I lose motivation at around 4 PM every day though.

Tilapia or really most freshwater white fish are good. In general freshwater fish are milder than saltwater. But Tilapia is everywhere. Blue and channel catfish are also good (other ones taste like what they eat...mud). As far as saltwater fish go, dolphin (gills not blowholes....restaurants call it mahi mahi), flounder,…

Mahi mahi can be used in any white fish recipe (except for MAYBE swordfish). So you see cod, grouper, haddock, snapper, or any salt water whitefish you're good. You're probably even good with subbing it with tilapia, bass, or bream. But really just about all whitefish are interchangeable in cooking.

Remember weight is just a metric. If you're not overweight, it's not really a particularly good one to use either to tell how "fat" you are. You get down below the 20% body fat range, how much muscle and water you have in your body start to have noticeable influences on your body. Results are really what matter, not what…

Dare I ask, but so what if you did? Did your body fat % (not BMI) or inches around waist or hips go up? If not, who cares? It's not fat
