I have the opposite problem. I am movitaved in the morning, but not in the evening. However I can't drag myself out of bed early enough (reliably) to work out before work.

Run outside instead of on the treadmill. Frankly I find treadmills absolute snooze fests, but 30 minutes on the road isn't so bad

I used to have both bad shin splints and runner's knee. When I was getting fitted for new running shoes, the store recommended i try out the superfeet green insoles. I agree with everyone going and getting properly fitted for good running shoes is a big help. You're probably also a heel-striker as you run.
