Got handed a superhero/comics trivia quiz at work today (it was the theme of the day). I knew all the answers, no one else around me was even close.

Ouch! Hope you (and the bike) are OK! Nowhere near the "Finisher" mark on Strava, but 16 miles to go to hit 400 for the month. Only problem is that the winds have kicked way up, talking gusts >40mph (again... ) and after the last windy adventure I'm questioning the intelligence of going out into that high of a wind. I…

I know I won't be posting HUGE mileage in May, but I'll keep my mantra: be happy if you beat last month's total. See you folks on the road.

I actually took a much needed rest this weekend. Yes, zero saddle time. It was nice - but hard to just relax. Looking forward to the Giro!

Since that post (3/26), added another 339.3 miles. According to the almighty Book of Strava for the year I'm at: 1,165.6 miles 55,561 ft climbed 142 rides (this is due to my daily commutes) 102 hours 27 minutes in the saddle Still zero hours on the trainer.

Here's the link for the ride: http://app.strava.com/activities/49980061 45.6 miles, 2,452 feet climbing (longest ride to date, incorporated longest climb to date as well!) Like the saying goes, somedays you're the hammer, others the nail. For the first 2/3 or so I was the hammer, then the road turned up, wind turned into…

In if you'll have me...305 (my old area code backwards).

Count me in!

Strong work! In poor weather that's an achievement (and well on the way to understanding rule 9 of the Velominati). Cycling cap tends to get the majority of the rain out of the glasses and self-produced fogged glasses can be remedied partially by altering layers/types of clothing and keeping moving. When I commuted in…

Today was a "fun" ride...felt a little like Andy Hampsten in the Giro though. http://app.strava.com/activities/49331354 Short ride today, hampered by a freak April snowstorm. It was actually colder when I left work at 2:30pm than when I rode to work at 5:30am. Needless to say since the weather was decent in the AM I had no…

Here's the ride: http://app.strava.com/activities/48783254 Just wasn't feeling up to an epic today. Every time you turned south the wind just beat you down...we're under a "High Wind Watch" wind currently 26mph, gusting to 35mph. Some of those gusts nearly stopped me in my tracks! Here's the post-ride libation, although…

Hmmm...dutch beer, I don't have any of those in the "cellar" guess I need to do a bit of shopping. Fries and mayo? It's a guilty pleasure. I know I can come up at least one 6% or greater climb that I could do multiple times, but do I want to? :ohwell: Too bad the challenge is Sunday, the local shop has a ride tomorrow that…

Here's a couple of suggestions from a daily commuter: Start slow, try the route on a weekend, then go for 2-3 days/week before going all out 5 days/week Eat a little something if you feel you have to, but you don't need much. Routinely I go for a cup of coffee before I head out (and then eat breakfast at work). Listen to…

I use Strava on my Galaxy S3 and battery drain doesn't seem to be too big of an issue. 3.5 hour ride on Sunday, Strava on, music on, phone down to around 60% at the end for the ride - I do far worse ona normal work day. I've used Strava, Endomondo, Map my Ride/Map my Run, gMaps pedometer (post ride, doesn't work for…

I was split between the S3 and the iphone 5, by a stroke of luck the shop where I was buying ran out of the iphone. So by a stroke of poor supply chain I ended up with the S3 - and I'm so glad I did! Instead of blindly claiming allegiance, here's a couple of reasons why: (in no particular order of importance) 1. bigger…

Nice day for a ride, high 60's,blue skies but a little windy. Here's the ride link :http://app.strava.com/activities/47747233 Stats: 31.6 miles, 1,447 ft elevation gain, 6.5 miles on dirt including 1.5 miles of hike-a-bike (very poor trail/road conditions), 1 broken seat rail. No croissants, windmills, cobbles or…

Welp, I'm not getting any spot points. No pave/cobbles anywhere in this state, nearest location for Kronenbourg is over 400 miles away (per BeerFinder) and the only windmills around here are farm-related. I might however be able to track down a frenchie pastry-type-treat, not sure Walmart has a "French Baking Section"…

Unfortunately, Taco Bell. Sometimes life gets in the way and it's easier to make a run to the Border than anything else. 1st time in 2 months though!

Shredded and cooked like hash browns. Butter, salt, pepper, cook until bottoms are crispy. Awesome.

In once again. Shooting for 400 miles...

^^^this. Year-round commuter. I also ride trails and road for fun! Weather has changed so the trails are good, the sun is out and I'm stuck in an office. At least I get to ride home!

DNS. Guess I'm OTB, SOL, PDQ, was SAH, need to HTFU. (off the back, straight out of luck, pretty darn quick was sick as heck, need to hardend the f up) GI bugs are nasty little creatures that make for riding 3+ hours away from "civilization" a bit, err...uncomfortable. IF the pros can get sidelined, guess I can too. Next…

unknown. I don't count those days. They don't exist. Although I know that Thanksgiving was pretty brutal, full turkey dinner plus 2 bombers of great beer - those alone would have been >1,000, plus dessert. But I enjoyed every moment!

As of this morning (3/27): 316.7 http://app.strava.com/athletes/596751#interval?interval=201303&interval_type=month&chart_type=miles&year_offset=0 Best month ever is 355.7, since I blew away January and February totals, this is my new goal to beat this month! And Strava even matches my spread sheet!

Sunday was the longest ride by me in a long time, I tried to do this exact route when I first moved to where I live and had to call for extraction about 1/2 way in I was so cooked. So while I didn't podium, it was a huge deal for me, beating a demon! Totally digging the challenges as they're getting me off the couch on…

OK, ride exported, photos downloaded, here goes: The ride: http://app.strava.com/activities/45826881 64.2km distance, 457m climbed, 4 sections of "cobbled" gravel washboard roads, 15-20mph headwinds for 75% of the ride, 2 stops to re-inflate tire, sunburn to face and neck and a big grin on my face! Post-ride refreshments:…
