40ish miles, nothing steep though. Haven't been using Strava as its been a royal PITA of late, that means I have to export and import, except there's issues exporting my ride. Will provide a complete update tomorrow after my court date...and when I can get the ride exported.

For the "excessive" gradient, how long does it need to be? Have several segments that are in the >10% range, but one I'm targeting the avergage is 9.6%, but sections ramp to 15-18+% What counts? What proof? Bummer we have no cobbles here, plenty of dirt roads that feel like cobbles though. Oh yeah, forecast says highs in…

Strong work! :drinker:

I had a pack of the self-stick patches that I've used (like many others above) as a spot patch on a ride. Found that if left in a sunny spot, they leak! Patched a tire and came out from work twice in 1 week to find previously patched tire flat, no other spots, not other issues, technique fair to good, just sitting in the…

I, like many in the real Milan-San Remo ride, did not finish. Actually, I didn't even start. Was a rough week at work, been fighting a head cold and just feeling punky so I soothed myself with sleep, time on the couch and a couple of Guinness. Somedays you know when you can't "race". TBY Edit : Better to rest up and come…

I second the idea for visiting the local shop. They may know some folks looking to sell bikes or may have used ones in stock. Some community cycling groups (kind of like a bike co-op, although this may be an Oregon thing) have cheap used bikes that have been tuned to be totally functional. The biggest issue I have with…

Yup, up here in the mountains take about 20-30 degrees off those high temps...but awesome Spring AZ weather! Got rides planned!

Have yet to reach 300/month this year, so that's my goal! Unless marked, rides are commutes w/fun extras added (door-to-door commute is 10 miles round trip) 3/1: 10.7 3/2: 25.2 Strade ride 3/5: 14.2 3/6: 14.1 3/7: 19.5 3/8: 11.5

^^this You're not going to get these: That is unless you want to.

Out of the chair at least once an hour, various stretches to stay loose, always take the stairs, try for a quick walk on lunch when the weather isn't too horrible. My one saving grace is commuting by bike, everyday at least 10 miles (round trip). Reminds me I need to stretch!

Craisins/raisins, peanut butter, nutella, cinamon, nutmeg, flax meal, honey, brown sugar, bananas, applesauce - it's all gone into oatmeal at one point. I make a week's worth on Sunday/Monday and take it to work, nuke it and vola', breakfast. You just have toplay with it to find something you like. Cal. counts run between…

Back in. My only goal this month is to beat last month's total, which shouldn't be too hard, theoretically. Trying to up the mileage though to be competitive in theBigYin's classic challenges and not finish DFL (I guess that's better than DNF though  ) Mar 1: 10.7 Mar 2: 25.2 Mar 4: 0.9 (flat tire on way out the door…

Total miles: 252.5 Lowest temp: 7F Days with active snow: 3 Dog bites: 1 250 was the goal and I barely beat it. Can't wait until the last of the snows have passed and I can drop the studded tires for slicks and get back out on weekends again.

Beautiful blue skies, 42F when I started first ride without tights in months! http://app.strava.com/activities/42827936# Oh, should I mention I was ridding on studded tires? Definitely unmetalled TBY Edit : Logged

Unmetalled road? You mean dirt/gravel road?
-
Creep - Radiohead Banditos - The Refreshments Seek and Destroy - Metallica Killing inthe Name - RATM These will make me go hoarse!
-
Well the ride got cancelled like K-B-K, too much snow on the ground! The Belgian beers however, did not.
-
Very nice. Would almost bet money (or doughnuts/beers) that my wheels (wheel set + tires) weighs more than your whole rig...:noway:

I used to have a snack after my med pass in the AM, try for lunch around 1300, quick bite around 1600 or pre-PACU end-of-shift dump, then home. Didn't always work. Took a turn for the fat when I went to nights, where it was med pass, snack the rest of the night to stay awake.
-
I was looking, no Omloop het Nieuwsblad? Oh well, will just go for a long ride then drink Belgian beer the rest of the day then. Call it preseason.

^^^this A bike helmet is a must, protect that melon! Road biking tends to minimize upper body strength to an extent, off-road riding forces you to work your arms and core more. It's a great workout and you can really build some good aerobic fitness doing so. But mostly, just have fun!

and, err...you're on your honeymoon, won't you be burning lots of calories by ah, walks on the beach? OR...(I'm going to make a lot of people mad) just enjoy yourself. A honeymoon is (usually) a once in a lifetime thing, do you really want to be worrying about calorie counts, exercise adn all that when you should be having…

Have one cat named Yoda as he has the pointy tufted ears of his namesake but unfortunatley lacking his Jeid proweress (most clumsy cat I've ever known), his departed (and dearly missed) brother was Odin, as he ruled our house like the Norse god he was named after.

Back in again. Shooting for 300 again. Going to need to add in a weekend ride or two to get there but I'm ready to rock.
-
What is this "riding indoors" you speak of? Since a "vacation" in September of last year I've only missed 2 commutes. And those were due to familial commitments and a mechanical. Studded tires, fenders, a various collection of layers accumulated over the years have enabled me to ride in some pretty nasty weather.…

Usually plain, 2 bites and done. Lately been adding them chopped up to half a mashed up avacado, a little lime juice and some sriacha. Might have to add mustard now!
-
Nice job everyone! Shocked I made the Top 10, last, but I'll take it.

Final #s for January Distance: 271.5 miles Elevation: 13,548 feet Coldest temp: -4F Warmest temp: 55F Didn't make my 300 this month. :grumble: Try again next month.

I have tickets to see the TImbers and Sporting play on Friday. It's only a 4 hour drive from where I live, so not too bad. If anyone cares, MLS is streaming most (if not all) of the preseason games on MLS.com and archiving the streams on YouTube. The commentary isn't great, the camera work is a bit sub-par and it's only…
