It just a matter of losing fat and lowering your overall body fat %

No...even on social occasions when a big meal is part of the event, I always try to fit the calories into my day and if not the week. It happens about once meal every four or five weeks.

I've gained back in the past because after losing weight and feeling comfortable again, I go back to eating too much and not exercising enough. Nothing magic, if I eat like I did when I was putting on weight, I'll put it on again. Maintenance doesn't mean you can stop watching what you eat. I've finally come to terms that…

You're on a good track. Because so much of weight loss is centered on motivation, it is a very personalized path. Focus on eating at or slightly under your calorie goal every day and be active every day. Weight loss and habits are built on consistency over time (10 to 14 weeks). Also be aware of the things that trigger bad…

Fantastic!! And you look great

A cheat day a week could easily cancel a large part of your weeks work. An occasional large meal is appropriate but I only do it socially and then still work to keep my week in balance. I don't do it often because I find it triggers my appetite for the next several days. Weight loss shouldn't be a chronic condition. Focus…

I've lived with my fitbit since July and enjoy it. It gives me useful feed back on my daily activity and mostly updates to MFP or rectory but sometimes they tweak the software and it gets wacky. Oddly, having to see if its working right is part of the fun. It is not a serious training device but it is a gadget I enjoy and…

It's part of my daily breakfast and a regular safety snack/meal replacement when I don't have any good food. Muscle Milk Lite Vanilla Cream. I use it as a good protein source ate breakfast which helps keep my appetite in check for most of the day. Like all calories, it needs to be fit into your day.

Just finished my 32 week of working out everyday before work (since July 2) and I have to be in my car for work by 6:30AM every morning and sometimes earlier. I started by simply making myself wake up at 5AM every morning and workout for at least 15 minutes. It hurt at first but you just have to do it. It won't feel great…

I find the Fitbit the best for adjusting my daily calorie goal based upon my activity level but it is more of a gadget then a tool. HRM is a tool which you can use for a variety of feedback on any cardio workouts. Overall, I never would have accomplished what I did without my HRM but it took a long time and quite a bit of…

Best you can do is work hard and lose weight. You cannot spot target your waist but you can work on toning the abs which will help keep everything pulled in tight. Be consistent and don't try to do 14 weeks worth of work in a couple days. Losing 21 lbs (target 2 lbs per week and expect 1.5 lbs per week) is feasible which…

Exactly right. I keep mine set without any activity (sedentary) and earn extra calories through my workouts and activity. Keeps me focused on being active. I tend not to eat back all my calories but I do eat 80% of them if I am hungry.

No insight on the menopause. Running will increase your muscle tone and increase your muscle size which is great. Unfortunately, you need to lose fat to lose inches and that is only through eating less than you burn every day. MFP is a wonderful tool to get that balance and lose the inches. Keep up with the running and…

"Thank you" is always appropriate. Compliments are gifts and should be simply accepted and enjoyed.

Cannot live based on how you feel. Simply do it even if it is for a short while. Letting yourself get away without trying because you don't feel like it is a bad trend. I don't feel like doing many things in my daily life and do them anyway. My deal with myself it that I have to at least try and if I still feel bad (like I…

Daily because I couldn't deal with the disappointment of looking like I gained over a week. With my regular weight fluctuations and despite losing an average of 0.225 lbs per day, I show gains about 1 out of every 3 days and 1 out of every 4 weeks. Not obsessive but I have found a better connection with my "weight" and…

At the end of the day, if you're staying within your goal then you're doing fine. Some days can be better but at the heart of it, it's using more calories than you consume.

You eat way under your goal on most days and exercise very hard. The exercise is great but if you eat at too low a deficit then your body will compensate. Like holding your breath too long and you gasp for air. I used to think my binges were a sign of my weakness but once I learned to eat enough and try not to lose…

MFP has a time for logged exercises when fitbit link is added. At some point fitbit will correct its automatic posting. If you're manually entering on both sites, you might have a problem. I manually log on MFP and let fitbit automatically update. As long as te time zones are set the same, fitbit is working great.

It's hard to lose you're identity with being large. It's a difficult thing for me. The truth is we've had our barometer for what is healthy bent. Anyone you see with flat abs is lighter than you'd guess and often they would admit. I enjoyed being large and it was/is a big part of my identity but I've chosen to be thin and…

You're simply not lean enough yet. Men hold their first on/last off weight on their bellies. Also, sucking in your gut is the proper posture and often when we get fat we develop a bad habit of letting our abs sag. Besides looking better, it supports your back which has to help with your job.

I get asked all the time how I lost the weight and I tell them that ate less by counting calories to control my intake and moved more by working out every day before work. I have yet to have anyone be anything other than disappointed by my answer. I am also getting a lot of "you look great but I hope you don't lose too…

The easiest way is to keep your shoes loose. I used to have the problem but loosened my shoes which I used to lace like I was walking or running. I have also found that moving your foot (lifting your heel) during the motion keeps the blood flowing.

I burn over 2,000 calories when I walk and golf and about 1,600 calories if I take a cart. It ends up being about 350 to 450 calories an hour. I burn 1,000 calories an hour on an elliptical (HRM) and about 1,150 running (HRM). I questioned the golf burns when I first started posting them but they line up for me and I lost…

Burning out after a week is a bad thing. I burn between 750 and 1000 calories a day, seven days a week with an average calorie consumption of between 2100 and 2400 per day. I am losing 1.5 lbs per week on average for the last 32 weeks. The few times I have pushed too much, generally too much resistance training, I have hit…

I am a big fan of MFP and have found it valuable to make a good connection with the number of calories consumed and the impact of my food choices. It has also helped me determine my daily calorie needs and kept me in a calorie deficient mode for the last 32 weeks. I found the AI system about 3 months ago but I have too…

First picture was taken the Friday after the Super Bowl. The second picture was taken last Friday. Ironically, I'll be at this year's Super Bowl but will have to wait for the Giant's to win again to get a true "After" Pictures.

How you burn calories depends on how hard you work. I have done 99% of my workouts on an elliptical and have been very successful with it. After about 5 months, I started running for the first time in my life and found that I really did build a solid cardio base with my elliptical that I converted pretty quickly to…

You can always reset your starting weight. My recommendation is not to look backwards as much as forward. You've done great in the time you have been here and should be proud.

Determining an accurate body fat% is very difficult without getting a body fat scan (DEXA scan) or a full body displacement measurement (Bodpod). I spent a long time trying to wrap my mind around it. The multipoint calculators might be the best calculation but I found that there are pictures of women or men at different…
