Starbucks Unsweetened Iced Coffee 16oz = 5 calories
I wanted to share an update from Starbucks which confirmed that their unsweetened, iced coffee has only 5 calories. I have been perplexed and concerned why all the information I could find showed their iced coffee contained 90 calories. In addition to the extra calories, it frightened me of what they were doing to their…

Before and After - Feb 2012 to Nov 2013
I just wanted to share the picture of my before and after. When I was going through the process myself, it was so important to me to see how others had transformed themselves. For me it was a slow and steady process where consistency as the most important thing. In the past, I had always relied on maximal effort and…

LIVING FOR THE MATRIX
A friend recommended I share this excerpt from my blog on the board: "It is easy to start on a good and productive path of eating smart and moving more. We use a variety of matrices to mark our progress including weight, measurements, clothing fit, distance, weight lifted, pace, duration, calories burned, etc. The matrices…

Consistency Works (Picture to Prove It)
Despite all my past efforts using diets, drugs, and frantic exercise, nothing has worked like logging food on MFP and working out at an intensity that lets me be active every single day. Consistency is the magic bullet that brings it all together.

Disorganized Eating
I heard a term which refocused my outlook on my diet and wanted to write it down so I don't forget the flood of thought it brought out. "Disorganized Eating" (not eating disorder) We are defined significantly by what we eat. So much of my life, I have been disordered in my eating and food choices. It is no wonder why I…

The Difference Between Watching and Playing
This before and after picture shows what I looked like in Febuary 2012 holding the Giant's Superbowl Trophy and Ring and me at Giant's Stadium participating in their 5K race in June 2013. While holding the trophy was cool, being able to run is priceless.

1 Year & 60 lbs Lighter
I wanted to share a quick transformation picture. It is amazing that in one year, I have lost 60 lbs. and have gained a solid understanding and ability to control my body weight without sacrificing my lifestyle; rather I live a much better lifestyle now. The absolutely best part is that my activity level is at an all-time…

55 lbs Lost with Picture
Amazing tool MFP is. A year ago I would have said this kind of transformation was beyond me and I was destined to be heavy the rest of my life with me slowly creeping towards 300+ lbs. A year ago I was 285 lbs and today I'm 228 lbs. I'm not done yet but only but I'm to a very good weight and have control once again over my…

Weight Fluctuations
I am a committed to weighing myself daily for a variety of reasons and I have always been disturbed by MFP only posting my losses and never my gains. Just because I am curious, MFP has posted 158.7 lbs lost but never showed the 108.7 lbs gained (net 50 lbs loss). The truth is that I lose an average of 0.225 lbs per day…

Music While Running?
I'm just starting to run and I'm struggling with pace and focus. I'm wondering if my iPod music is too distracting also I have a race where they won't let me use headphones for safety and I'm concerned that training with music and then racing without might be difficult. Music is what gets me through my elliptical sessions…

Feb 2012 to Nov 2012 - (with pics)
My first success story and my first try at posting photos. I hope it works. The pictures show me at my highest weight (285 lbs) in early February and a picture from this morning at 254 lbs. I managed to lose 5 pounds between early February and mid June. I lost the other 25 lbs after joining MFP in late June and finally…

Heart Rate Training Insights from a Newbie
This is from my blog (myfitnesspal.com/blogs/alienrite) and I wanted to get some feed back from the MFP community in general. I am new to the heart-rate centered training and have found very mixed information. "I continue to read about training with heart rate monitors and try to understand how best to apply it to me. I am…

Real Life Trial
I met friends for a happy hour. While I am free to eat anything as long as a log it, I find myself unwilling to blow my day for the crappy fried food I would have trivally eaten. MFP in action an working well. Harder than I though but happy I had the tools to make decisions.

True?
With a 2 lb per week goal, my goal calories today are 1790 and because I played golf today my total was 3880. Seems too good to be true and if it's true, I'm frightened of what my calorie total was when I was gaining weight. As a newbie, it is fascinating.

Just Starting
Through an odd sequence of events, I looked into food journaling. I have been generally unsuccessful about controlling my weight and condition I blame on my high stress and long work days and a general lack of motivation to diet; and a deep seating aversion to self denial when stressed. To start, I'm just interested in…
