Try changing the batteries or re-calibrating. You didn't mention what type or how long you've had it. I thought my Polar FT60 was crapping out after three months but once I re-calibrated the settings, it seems to be working fine again.

Wonderful success! Keep up the great work. :flowerforyou:

I try to live by the 6 month rule. If I haven't used it in six months and don't plan to use it in the next six months, it's got to go. If it doesn't fit, it goes. If it's broken beyond repair, dirty beyond rejuvenation, or antiquated beyond reincarnation...bye bye.

^^This, exactly.

I log everything except gum. I only chew gum when I'm driving so I usually forget by the time I get to my destination. I don't think 5 calories once or twice a week has set me back much. Everything else gets logged.

I use a Polar FT60 and I love it. I can't think of anything I don't like about it.

Eating back exercise calories is definitely a much debated point. I think it would depend on what factors you used to consider yourself "lightly active". If you made that selection based on expecting to burn 500 calories a few times a week (I assume through exercise) then you shouldn't eat those calories back as you've…

^^Totally agree with this. If we weren't conditioned by society or upbringing to jump to the conclusion that every stranger is a predator and look at it from a human perspective, he may have felt intimidated to use the "family facilities" since they are predominantly used by women (I know they are in my gym), therefore he…

@ doug.. it's not a "diet" so cheating is not possible. Next person steps on the scale every day.

Washington DC, since butt sex is old news in yo' house...

I was going to shush you until I read this. Weight is not static, you will fluctuate throughout the day, ever day. I've had days, during my scale obsession, where I would see the scale jump up 7 lbs... crazy!!!! It happens. Stick to the same day and time, every week (or month). The rest of the time, try to put…

I'm not an expert but from what I understand, your calorie burn is not factored into your daily calorie goal by MFP. You should be adding your calorie burn to your diary and eating some or all of those calories back. The 1220 goal already has a deficit built in based on the data you entered, so follow what MFP says is your…

You don't have to cut out alcohol, but don't sacrifice nutrition for it. When I first started trying to lose weight, I read lots of information suggesting that cutting it out completely would immediately put me on the path to weight loss. That didn't happen! From a health perspective, it's great advice to cut down or…

True... and won. Next person hates bacon.

Welcome and good luck to you! You've already made a great start. I lost all of my weight by using MFP; logging every day, and listening to the guidance and encouragement of the wonderful people on my Friends List. I am in maintenance mode now but still logging and tracking my food and exercise every day. Feel free to send…

I use http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/list. I believe there is a similar site for those in the UK.

I used the recipe builder to tweak our favorite meals so I was reducing the calories without sacrificing flavor. Just an example, my SO and I both love tacos so I switched out the 80% ground beef for 93% lean (I don't like turkey, but some people substitute ground turkey as it is healthier), switched to low fat or fat free…

French press is fine, 196 F, as long as you log it as water.

^This made me LOL but I'm all about the beef, medium rare please.

In a recent weird dream I was incubating babies heads in an egg carton in my kitchen cupboard. I have lots of strange dreams, but this one at least made me laugh.

If I'm going for lunch, it's always Zuppa Toscana and salad.. I don't like their breadsticks so there is no temptation. Whatever I order for dinner, I immediately split in half and ask for a takeout box. Olive Garden does post their nutritional information online. http://www.olivegarden.com/menu/nutrition/

Fun-Dip and Pixie Stix, Sardines straight from the can (although I now like anchovies on pizza) And anything cooked by my mother. :noway:

When I create recipes, I generally base the number of servings either on the main protein (eg; 2 lbs of beef @ .25 lbs per serving = 16 servings) or on what the final product yields. Soup is usually a one cup serving of combined broth and added veggies & proteins. It sounds like your recipe would yield closer to 16 one-cup…

^^ I do this too! And now I'm craving corn & mashed potatoes. I also must remove all of the peas from my soup before I can eat it. I do not like peas at all and will not eat them. Everything else in the soup is welcome to stay.

No hoping, you CAN do this! Take your time, be patient and honest with yourself and don't make drastic changes too quickly. When I started here last May, I wasn't convinced I could lose weight but figured if I was tracking my calories and didn't go over my goal at least I wouldn't gain more. Looking back at my pre-MFP…

I love my Cuisinart, model SS-700. Large water reservoir, 5 cup sizes, hot water button and rinse feature. It uses standard k-cups but i use a solofill filter because my favorite brand of coffee doesn't come in k-cup.
