I was sleeved 10/11, the early weeks were tough, 6 weeks seems to be magical, feeling more myself and eating some solid foods, chewing well of course. Nice to eat with the family again!

Hello, I am having surgery in October. My insurance does not cover any WLS, so I decided after much research to have my surgery in Mexico. I know most think this is a little crazy, but I know some people who have used my surgeon. I am beyond ready, have been researching the sleeve for 5 years, and have never been able to…

I have had one for several months and love it! I link it to MFP as well. I like how it tracks sleep quantity and quality as well, which is so important to good health and stress reduction. Good luck and enjoy your new gadget!

You certainly can work some wine into your plan, I drink wine or a cosmo a couple times a week and have lost 45 lbs in 4 months. Logging everything and increasing activity, in addition to drinking alot of water is the key for me!

Exactly, I was obese when I had my twins at 41 yrs old, I only gained 9 lbs, had two healthy babies, and lost overall after they were born, I made healthier choices, that was the ticket! Almonds, fish, cheese, fruits, vegetables.

Congratulations! You are an inspiration to the rest of us who have alot to lose! Thanks for sharing your story!

I am 287 and I go to the YMCA pool on a regular basis, there are other people there bigger than me. My husband and kids go too, so we make it a family activity....we all enjoy it and hubby and I are loosing weight! Go for it, swimming is relaxing and great exercise!

Play with my children, not shop in big girl stores, look good in clothes, seatbelt fit on a plane!

If you are doing alot of exercise, 1400 is not enough, no wonder you are hungry, your body will try to hang onto the fat and will turn to burning muscle if you don't eat enough of the right calories!

There really is science to support that 1200 or less per day screws with your metabolism and makes it very hard to sustain weight loss.

Well Said!!! Agree 100%...

I eat 1500-1700 a day and have lost 37 lbs since end of May. Faster loss tends to be regained, this is about lifestyle change, not a quick fix!
-
It can be done with hard work and dedication....he must have really cut calories and worked out! Congrats on your achievement!

While this is definitely a GREAT form of exercise, in addition to that, I do ride my bike, swim, walk, and cut carbs pretty drastically. I do get carbs from the fruit and veggies I eat. I read "Wheat Belly" by Dr. WIlliam Davis and am doing wheat free now as well. I follow a similar diet to Atkins....31 lbs lost since…

Our weight stories are similar, I started at 325 and to lose 145-150 lbs was daunting. My first goal was to get below 300, I did that a couple weeks ago, and am now under 295! I am breaking my mental goal into even smaller 5 and 10 lb chunks, it feels great to hit each goal... I sat in a rocker at work the other day, and…

All the comments are true, I hope you listen. I am a 46 yr old 296 lb woman and eat 1500-1600 and am losing nicely. Calorie and nutrient rich foods are your friend!
-
Agree, very little hunger with the atkins plan, and yes, most of do control calories, and exercise is important as well!
-
Awesome story, congrats to both of you!:flowerforyou:

All great info, and yes, I used to drink 5-6 nights a week (vodka) and since I am down to one night a week and limit it to 2 drinks, I am losing MUCH better. In my mind, alcohol was part of the problem...

Avoid starchy vegetables, and avoid high sugar fruits, I look at the glycemic index, although the sugar in fruit is better for you than any other sugary food. I am following an Atkins type No wheat low carb diet, and it is really working for me. I have lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks eating healthy and added exercise too of course.…

I would highly suggest to anyone reading "Wheat Belly" by Dr. William Davis. I just started reading it on a friends recommendation and it is truly eye opening. It gives a great history on wheat and what wheat currently is, and this Cardiologist believes that Americans are ALL wheat intolerant to varying degrees. It's a…
