Hey.....have you tried shopping through Land's End (or was it L.L. Bean?) they sell jeans designed for several different body types. My friend is a true pear, and has great success this way.

5'4" & 155 pounds. I wear a size 12-down from a 14 in June. :-) never have worn my jeans TIGHT, though.....
