I'm 5'4" and my goal is to be around 22% body fat, rather than a scale goal. This is the bottom end of "Ideal" body fat for a woman my age/top end of "Lean" body fat. With the right strength training, I think I'll be around 130 when I reach that goal: 45 lbs and a lot of exercising to go! No idea what clothing size that…

I get some of that same "disconnect" between how I feel and how I look in pictures (or even my own mirror). I'm just trying to ignore what I see for now and hold onto the fact that I move easier, have more energy, have loose clothes, and most importantly for me I've lowered my blood glucose levels. You've made wonderful…

Oh yeah, I got the results of my lipid test today too - down from total cholesterol of 308 to 207 in three months. Thank you very much MFP!

My understanding was that we want to avoid ANY illnesses that we can, as they can wreak havoc on our BGL, so since there are vaccines now for flu and pneumonia, they recommend that we get them in order to avoid getting sick and screwing up our levels. For me at least, the doctor will have to talk long and hard next year to…

That's terrific! I hope you strutted all the way to the store!
-
Shell, you have done a phenomenal job so far. You should be very proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing your story.

They told me the pneumonia was good until age 65, when I'd need a booster and for me that's 22 years away! I think the flu shot was the one kicking my butt yesterday. They did an intradermal shot and it flippin' hurt and today it's swollen and hot and sore, which they told me to expect. I think it's making my BG run a…

Keep in mind that cup size is based on the difference between your actual bust measurement and your band size, so since your band size is smaller, even though you're still a D/DD your cup size really has decreased. If you still have any of your 40DD bras around, try taking one of your new 34DD bras and fitting the cup into…

I just wanted to offer a big congratulations on the results of all your hard work and also to thank you. I lurk a lot more than I comment, but I've gotten a lot of great information from you and others that think like you, i.e. HelloitsDan, CrisAnderson27, and many others who offer common sense and science backed up by…

Congratulations! You're down in the "safe" zone! You're right, my results do encourage me to do even better.

Thanks everyone. It was a really great moment and I left there feeling wonderful! Unfortunately it didn't last because she talked me into getting the flu shot and the pneumonia vaccine today because she said every diabetic should have them and now I feel terrible. Headachy and stiff and exhausted. Blah. I hope this…

Well, I know that for me at least, the addition of even a little exercise in a day really makes a difference to my BG levels, and since I'm worried about those more than the number on the scale (though obviously I'd like the scale number to keep moving down) I'll agree that exercise is really important.

Welcome to the group. You'll find a lot of good information and a lot of good people on this site. Also, this line: is PRICELESS.

The wonderful, ever-changing weather: blue skies with big puffy clouds and 70 degree temps, cool and crisp days with the smell of the changing leaves in the air, glorious and world-shaking thunderstorms, and damp, foggy days when you can smell the earth. In Ohio sometimes we can get all of them in a single day!

What an awesome job you've done. Congratulations, and you look fabulous!

I like it a lot and it seems to fit your goal of increasing your overall fitness level, by which I figured you mean you want to start making your muscles do more than take up space on your bones. There's also a group on MFP for people doing it. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/7830-hooya-give-me-more- One of…

Yay! Congratulations!

Welcome and great job on 50 lbs lost so far! You CAN adjust your carb goals on MFP, not by the day but by a percentage of your daily calories. Just click the tab at the top that says "My Home" and after the page loads, click the word "Goals" then click "Change Goals" and another page will load asking if you want MFP to…

There is a great book called "You Are Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren that is all bodyweight exercises. The terrific thing about it is that it is customizable to any fitness level and he tells you exactly how to adjust the exercises to make them easier or harder. You also don't need equipment and can do it in the privacy of…

On me, probably not. On others, whatever makes them happy. Although honestly, I usually find large amounts of tattooing unattractive, unless it's something done with an overall plan. For example, my hair stylist has these beautiful geometric shapes all down one of his arms, which looks really cool, but a bunch of random…

Normally you would expect your numbers to be a little higher after you eat. It's called a 2-hour post-prandial reading, and there are different criteria for it than there are for your morning, fasting reading, but those criteria change depending on who you ask. Some people say it should be below 140, some say 160, and I've…

Great job! Love the image of you making a "victory lap" around the room carrying your wife. :)

One more thing: turn that toddler into exercise equipment! Just google "exercising with baby" or "exercising with toddler" and you'll find lots of things that will help you get some exercise in and your little boy will think it's just great play time with mom! Here are just a couple that I found:…

Hi Jennifer and welcome to the group, though I'm sure all of us wish we didn't need to be here. One quick question: How are your meter readings/A1C? If you've been running high that can cause the exhaustion. Also, what is your daily calorie intake? When I was first diagnosed and started on here, MFP gave me 1200 calories a…

That's fabulous and congratulations! And if you hadn't said that there was 15 years between those pictures, I would never have guessed it because you've hardly aged at all!
-
:flowerforyou: Love that - I like being able to read between the lines!
-
I'm so sorry to hear about your medical problems. That had to be terrifying. Now, wipe today's calories out of your mind. Don't worry about what MFP says you would weigh in 5 weeks because you're not going to keep eating like that. Just get back to work on eating well tomorrow because you're going to need your strength and…

LOL, my husband doesn't let me get away with bad pronoun antecedents when I'm speaking, so I figured I'd better not let them slip into my writing either. :)

Thanks to all of you! I'm wanting to do handsprings at the moment, over something as simple as clothing. I won't though - mainly because I can't and I'd hurt myself, then I'd put weight back on and wouldn't be able to wear my new skirt.
