  • Yep, exactly the same. In fact I came on here specifically looking for info about this. :(
  • It was funny to come on here and see this topic on the front page because I was just complaining to my boss today that my shoes were getting so loose I was almost walking out of them. :)
  • Congratulations! Changing how you feel about food is a huge success. I've also noticed that after eating healthier foods for awhile, much of the "junk" I used to love just doesn't taste good any more.
  • MadFrankie, I just came on here looking for an answer to that exact question. When I log "extra" exercise in MFP, the math just doesn't make sense. I was kayaking earlier this evening and took my UP off and wore a HRM to track what I burned while paddling. When I entered that in MFP, the numbers went screwy. And there's no…
  • There are actual videos demonstrating the moves on the YAYOG app (not just sequential photos as stated above), as well as some pre-made workouts with timers and instructions. They're very customizable as to fitness level, as is the whole YAYOG program. The pre-made workouts totally take you step-by-step through what to do…
  • I found and/or created "Foods" for tracking my meter readings and I put them right into my diary where they'll be most useful to me. This way I can see at a glance how I react to specific meals. The "foods" I use are are: Cpl - Fasting Blood Glucose (for my morning reading - I enter it before I put in anything else, so I…
  • Don't despair over the weight gain. The only way you could possibly truly gain 6 lbs would be to have eaten 21,000 calories MORE than what you need to maintain your current weight. That's one heck of a lot of food. The weight is probably a result of the constipation and some water retention due to your medications. It…
  • That is appalling! I'm so sorry to hear about the attack on you and Titus. How in the world does anyone ever feel justified committing an act like that?!
  • This is my daughter and our two rescued dogs. Lita, the Beagle/Brittany mix, was adopted from the local county dog shelter in 2005. Lulu, the Shih Tzu, was literally rescued from the doorstep of the building I worked in on the morning after Christmas three years ago. She was covered in snow and ice, malnourished, and so…
  • People used to believe that Diabetes came from eating too much sugar or was affected by eating too much sugar. Well, the second part of that statement is partially true, but only in so far as sugar is a carb. So are pasta, bread, potatoes, fruits, etc and they all affect us like sugar does. If you're controlling your carbs…
  • I did wonder a bit if it might be the combination of the two shots but I was blaming it on the flu shot because all my local reaction was at that injection site. Not logical, I know. Also, I was coming off of a UTI at the time too, which may have influenced things. Yeah, I'll probably let her talk me into it again next…
  • That's got to be a typo or someone made a mistake reading the website. It's impossible that grilled chicken, a protein, would add 30g of carbs, not unless you literally coated it in a heavy layer of sugar. I just checked their website and there are only 10 grams of carbs total in a premium Caesar salad with grilled chicken.
  • I'm a middle-aged, married accountant. Need I say more?
  • ROFL! Beautiful! (To the OP, not the post above mine. To that one - ewwwww!) LOL
  • Oh my gosh. Too frickin' cute!
  • ^^^This is how I understood it. Maybe we just need a new name for the process described in the second paragraph above. How about "Conservation Mode"? That more accurately describes what is going on anyway. Our metabolic rate slows down to attempt to make the most out of the food it is receiving. One other thing: this will…
  • No question suggestions, just an "I hope it went well!" Oh, and BTW, you spelled it right. :flowerforyou:
  • I think you have to keep in mind too, that there are a lot of differences among T2 diabetics. For a lot of us, our bodies are still producing various levels of insulin, but our cells have become resistant to it. So just adding more insulin to our blood stream will only have a certain degree of success, whereas many of the…
  • Congratulations! You look wonderful and so happy. Even your clothes are brighter and more cheerful, like they're joining you in that party!
  • "Met" him for the first time on an MSN penpal site, 12 years ago this past July. Turned out we only lived about an hour and a half away from each other and one evening just a couple weeks after that first e-mail exchange I was feeling bored and reckless and picked up the phone and called him (he'd given me his number a few…
  • I'm no nutrition expert, but the only micro nutrient I'm aware of that can have a significant short-term effect on your weight is sodium (due to water retention). That's not to say that you should ignore the others because they contribute to over-all health and well-being, but you shouldn't stop losing weight if you eat…
  • I quit 4 days, 6 1/2 hours ago. :) So yeah, still having cravings. I use a variety of things when a craving hits. I'll get up and walk/pace, get a drink of water, get a piece of gum or a sugar-free hard candy, or pick up my phone and look at the "quit smoking" app I downloaded. The app is called "Cessation Nation" and when…
  • Okay Shell, here's the first one: Flourless Chocolate Cake Makes 12 servings (but it's very rich so you might actually want smaller servings!) A little heavy on calories and fats, but good on carbs and sodium 250 ml heavy cream 250 ml plus 40 ml sucralose-based sugar substitute (Splenda, if you have that brand name?) 12…
  • Ummm, where do you shop? 'Cause if you can get that for one calorie there, I am SOOOO switching stores. Heck, I'd drive to a different state just to shop there!
  • Shell, how do you feel about artificial sweeteners? If you're okay with them then I have some recipes I can give you, but I know a lot of people avoid them. Let me know and if you don't mind using Splenda/Equal etc then I'll post some for you later. I'm heading out of town right now to visit my mom, and won't be back 'til…
  • Way to go! You really HAVE owned it!
  • Thanks for that link to eatwild.com I had never heard of them before and just a quick look should me a ton of local producers. This is something I've been wanting to do for awhile, as I grew up on beef and pork that we raised and butchered ourselves and nothing from the stores even comes close. Step one: convince my…
  • I was looking in the mirror the other day and thought my face looked odd/different - then I realized that the dark, puffy circles under my eyes that I always thought were genetic (Granny has them) were gone!
  • Bumping. I had lentils for the first time ever a couple weeks ago and I'm in love.
