  • I'm going to cut to the chase. You are in denial. Like an addict, you have to WANT to get fit and healthy, want it more than anything. Be willing to sacrifice a little piece of yourself for the ultimate goal. Until that lightbulb moment comes, you will always try and fail. The lightbulb moment is a feeling inside you, when…
  • I just feel a bit downhearted you know? My OH has only made his dinner portions smaller, but other than that hasn't changed a thing and he's dropped a stone in 7 weeks without even trying!
  • At my healthy weight I was a UK size 10 on my waist and a size 12 on my hips. My natural shape is curvy, big hips, tiny waist and big boobs, so I'm not particularly petite.
  • No, but it makes me ridiculously bloated, which of course makes me look a hell of a lot fatter. I used to drink a few cans a week to maybe one a day, but I only have it on occasion now. Once I cut right down on it, I noticed immediate reduction in the size of my stomach.
  • I regularly go over on my sugar (90% of which seems to come from carbs and fruit) and I am steadily losing weight. Maybe I would lose more if I cut down on sugar even more, but then most of my sugar is coming from good foods.
  • Bollocks to that, I can give or take bread and sweets, but I love pasta and I will eat it, especially if I'm doing a hard workout later on. I just portion control it. I generally have a pretty low carb and sugar diet anyway, so no ones taken the occasional bowl of pasta from me!
  • Mother nature is a funny thing. If I'm going to put period related water weight on, it happens the week before. Some weeks I won't put any on, others I can easily do 5-6lbs and days later after starting it falls back off again.
  • I wouldn't worry too much. I am always over my suagr goal. For example a few days ago, i ate porridge oats, homemade soup and for dinner had turkey breast, potato and salad and was 10g over my sugar limit. Sugar lives in fruit and carbs, so they are 'good' sugars (although you still shouldn't have too much), as long as…
  • See I know a pound of fat is good, but I always look at that picture and think 'yep, i am disappointed still'.:ohwell: But that's just me personally.
  • This is absolutely correct. The 600 is the energy used to remake the blood so to speak, spread over several weeks. However, DO make sure you eat well for the next 24hours. Lots of protein and vitamins to replenish.
  • I just ordered a Polar FT$ today for £50 from Amazon.
  • It totally depends on whether you can remember to take a pill everyday, if you can then either choice is totally up to you. I personally do not like the shot because the women in my family who have had it have all put on loads of weight AND fallen pregnant on it, so don't want to to risk it. I am on the pill and have had…
  • Thanks guys. I have put my order in for a FT4, £50 from Amazon.
  • I agree with this. Often obese people have huge weight loss to begin with, simply because they can have an easy 1000cal deficit, whereas someone who has say 30lbs to lose, wouldn't be able to. Unfortunately if you start off a bit overweight, it will take longer, but that comes with the positive of staying off, for good.…
  • I to am a typical hourglass. Broad shoulders, big boobies, tiny waist and big Kardashian style hips. Sadly you cannot spot reduce and as i have lost weight it has come off my boobs and face, but not really my thighs and *kitten*, but am now seeing reduction there too. I say embrace what mother nature gave you. I have been…
  • I have exactly the same problem. From what I've read and from talking to a guy that bodybuilds he reckons that as you gain more muscle in your legs that pushes the fat cells outwards more than they already are, increasing the appearance, but apparently after this the appearance should reduce as the more muscle you have…
  • Do you worry that by upping your cals you will lose at a much slower rate? This is something I worry about, which I wouldn't mind about usually but I have a goal for my holiday so don't want it to slow to say 1/2 lb a week!
  • OP, I hope upping my calls by no more than 200cals is going to help me. My goal was 1200, but would normally come in under this by about 100-200 cals. Was losing 2lb ish per week and have now stalled and gained a pound. I normally work out 3-4 times a week doing HIIT or running. So I am thinking the same things as you and…
  • I am on Marvelon and have no problems, I love it! No weight loss, but sadly no larger breasts either. Remember ANY contraceptive pill can make you gain weight this is because for some people the hormones increase appetite
  • I am having exactly the same problem OP. I have been told that i actually need to up my calories slightly, could it be you are eating too little?
  • I think it really depends on the purpose. Some will see good results with a meal or day and some with just a meal. The thing to remember is that a cheat meal DOESNT mean you should be stuffing your face and doing a 2000 calorie meal. It means to have something you wouldnt normally have in your diet or pehaps to have double…
  • You look amazing. Starting stats are almost the same as mine and you look exactly like what I am aiming for. Awesome job!
  • I have had this as well. My main problem for weight gain was too much of good food. I am not a junk food person and never have been, so what I've noticed is that I look at a portion that i would have considered tiny a few months ago and now i look at it and think 'that's quite enough for me'. Do I want that massive…
  • Most days everything is under, the only thing I have trouble being below is my sugar limit, but having a look at the food diary most of that sugar seems to be coming from carbs. There aren't any real changes in my diet, it's been pretty consistent throughout, minus a cheat meal once a week. I am struggling to drink enough…
  • So if I up my calories, to speed my metabolism back up, can I still expect a 1.5 - 2lb weight loss or will I go down to only losing 0.5lb a week? because to be honest the latter isn't good enough if I want to hit my target. i still have at least 10lbs to go to hit it. I have one cheat meal a week, which usually only takes…
  • I watched that. *SPOILER* *SPOILER* The frustrating conclusion was pretty much, thin people who eat loads stay thin because......they are just built that way. *shakes fist*. Sadly I do not have those genes and would have easily put on a good stone during that study.
  • I do have a soft spot for an ice cold Diet Coke, but if I drink too much of it (and I mean one can a day for a week - so not even that much!) I get extremely bloated and feel a bit sick, so now I have it once in a while, normally with a meal out. I cut down on it mainly for the bloating, which was practically cured by it.
  • I do it mainly by filling up on lots of salad a veggies, which are low calorie even for a large amount. Also make sure my meat is extremely lean, so it fills me up with less calories. I admit some days I still go to bed hungry, but this is only temporary and I actually weirdly feel a lot more energetic and stronger.
  • Helloitsdan, I respect what youre saying but at my current weight my TDEE is 2000 to sustain my current overweight self at this weight, so how could it still be 2000 at 30lbs lighter at my goal weight? Not arguing, just asking.
