  • Why isn't 1-2 enough for you? Carbs are not your problem. Give yourself some time. You didn't become overweight overnight and it's not going to be overnight to lose the weight either.
  • there is probably a study somewhere that claims that eating bugs while standing on your head is good for you too. 25 participants doesn't really sound like a qualified study to me, especially when they are all younger students.
  • I can't imagine your doctor supporting the food choices you are making. And he might not care about sodium, but the sodium intake is going to affect your weight loss if you are retaining water. And if you are concerned about sugar, it's also WAY too high, most days you are well over. None of it is coming from whole fruit…
  • Congratulations!!!! That's just awesome!!!! Keep going!!!
  • I agree! FABULOUS!! How wonderful. You look radiant!
  • uh, wow, I think it could be all the junk food you are eating. Your sodium is through the roof and all you eat is processed junk. Do you ever eat fruit or vegetables? Sorry to be so blunt, but you have to start eating better healthier foods.
  • I freeze meat in smaller portions in freezer bags. That way you don't need to eat it all at once, and you'll enjoy it for a longer length of time. and I don't agree about pork being unhealthy. I don't think there is a problem with a portion controlled amount of saturated fat. I love cheap cuts of meat, like pork shoulder…
  • No one can really give advice on your food intake without actually seeing your diary, but it sounds like you aren't eating enough quality calories. If you are eating a lot of empty sugar and white carbs, then you will be hungry more often Make healthier choices like nuts, whole grains, seeds, beans, veggies, whole fruit…

  • I was just coming on to the forums to mention something. I just received my copy today! How incredible!!! I suppose that means we'll be getting a lot more members signing up, especially once it hits the news stands!!!! Congrats to all the folks behind MFP - it's really truly a fantastic web site and app!
  • It's not just Tyson that has problems, it's all the big chicken/turkey companies, Perdue included. I would rather pay $10 for a chicken that wasn't tortured. I just eat less meat now and more plants!
  • If you search the forum for "exercise calories" you'll find hundreds of other threads with good (and bad) advice. Just do what you think it right for you.
  • This is funny. I just returned from the inlaws. My MIL was using sensa. sigh. I'm so sad. I had to come back and search on the forums, and found that someone posted a link to an webMD article. http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/truth-about-sensa It's an honest review, and I wish I could email it to her, but DH says no. So,…

  • in the recipes section, you need to specify how many servings. If you are weighing your food, then weigh the total recipe, and divide by how many are eating. What I usually do, is estimate how many servings and just try to be as equal as possible. I like making double recipes for dinner, so we can eat for lunch the next…
  • What a terrible thing to say! I'm so sorry! Don't let it get you down, just keep pushing forward toward your goal!
  • Yes, my mother is also what keeps me motivated to stay healthy. She is obese and can barely walk with her bad knees. I don't want to end up like that! It's also very sad, because she doesn't want to change, or feels she's too old to change. I wish you luck in your journey, and I hope your dad is okay!
  • Oh that is just fantastic. The weight loss is great, but I think the real triumph is that you are so much more healthier!! Congratulations!
  • I agree, one day is when you wake up until you go to bed.
  • I think when I started I just wanted to start eating better and healthier. The weight loss I thought was a bonus. I never expected to lose so much, and I lost more even when I thought I was done losing. yes, you'll always have some sort of fear or paranoia. I was so paranoid that it was all a cruel joke, and I'd start…

  • Do you work out? I would think that exercising using your legs would be helpful, ie walking, running, biking, aerobics, etc
  • Yep, I agree! it won't convert. It all depends on what you are measuring. if you have a Tbsp of rocks, it's going to be a lot more grams in weight than a Tbsp of feathers. I also advise getting a scale where you can weigh everything. I use a scale for all my baking too. It's much more efficient and precise.
  • I love Maine too. We'll be heading up to boothbay harbor this summer for a few days. York beach, Wells, Kennybunkport, Old Orchard, Rockport, Camden, Belfast are all wonderful....but since you'll be up in Bangor, you'll have to check out Bar Harbor/Acadia area. It'll be a nice day trip from your Aunt's place. Oh and…
  • searching for "sugar" using the forum search option will bring up hundreds of previous discussion threads. Good luck!

  • I wish you luck! And no, it can't change overnight. Just little steps, little changes. But keep in mind, you also need to be an example for your kids. If you start them off right, eating healthy whole foods, then you are helping their future!
  • sorry to be blunt, but your diet is horrible. It's not the quantity of calories, but the QUALITY of calories. You eat a lot of junk, and your body will never be satisfied because it's not getting enough nutrition. Your sodium is really high from all the junk processed foods. Your fiber is next to nothing! You really need…
  • Just looking at a few days, you eat A LOT of processed foods. Besides being high in sodium and hidden sugars, they really aren't good for you. Lots of preservatives, chemicals, soy fillers, etc. I also see some days you aren't eating all your calories, but I think that the main problem could be too much processed foods.…
  • I also vote for the smaller portion. Such great advice from everyone!!!! This is an awesome thread for newbies to read!
  • wow! You're a different person! What a transformation! Congrats on your success!
  • It looks like you are starving yourself. Your body cannot live on 1000 calories a day, especially if you are working out. EAT!! Give your body the fuel it needs and it will repay you by letting go of the fat!

  • adding healthy oils and fats help boost calories...olive oil, coconut oil are my faves. Nuts, beans, whole grains, fruit, veggies are all important, I try to eat less meat and more plant based foods. quinoa or other whole grains can be added to veggies for cold salads. summer fruit is awesome!!!! berries! yum! also…
