I didn't even know I could open my diary. I just did so, with some trepidatation. I'd better get better at recording actual foods as opposed to being lazy and using that Quick calories feature.

Yeah, every day, every meal; I really have to. Luckily my ipod touch makes it easy. I've started this program over a month ago and they say that if you do something 21 times or something, it becomes a habit.

I've gotten a little lax about counting calories honestly. I had an incredibly boring day yesterday and ate stuff I usually don't (quite a lot of carbs) and would say "Well, that was about 125 calories," when I knew damned well it was a lot more than that. Underreporting, that's my cheating. Trying to get back on track…

I don't see how you can have hundreds of cals. with skim milk and low-sugar cereal. That's what I have every day and stay under 200 cals for breakfast. Not bad to throw a few berries or half a banana in to keep to full well into the a.m.

Thanks, it's useful to know how to figure out how to lose weight by one's BMI. I must be honest and say I don't think I can eat less than 1000 calories a day. I just personally couldn't handle doing that. The only way I can see getting under 1000 is via exercise and that'd be a big change in how I operate --- but it is…

Anything! It doesn't melt as well as cow's cheese, but that's OK. It's great in omelets, salads, all the pita or eggplant pizzas people mentioned, or on a tortilla, a wholewheat wrap with lots of veggies, etc. Rachael

The great thing is that it really is simple. Today is day 30 for me since I discovered MFP and I've logged every meal. It helps that I have an ipod touch in my pocketbook so it's handy, and I don't need wireless - whatever I log offline gets registered as soon as I'm in a wireless zone, and I'm in those at home and work.…

I really believe in using that Diary tracking feature. I treat it like a gain. Uh-oh, I have 350 calories left, maybe I'll make a huge salad and a spritzer and some roasted veggies. That kind of thing. It is kind of fun to try to not exceed zero, but if I stop tracking it, I really go downhill. Each day is a new day,…

Thanks again, everyone. I'm doing just fine. Hope you all have an excellent day as well.

Love it!

Thanks, friends. Big glass of seltzer with ice coming right up (like it better than water.)

Just keep at it. I'm so glad you already feel so good! I am trying not to get on the scale more than once a week, I know there will be fluctuation. I'm making very healthy food lately and eating fruit. I can't believe I have a package of cookies in the house for two weeks and haven't been tempted (they are for my husband,…

That old "one day at a time" thing makes some sense. Wake up tomorrow -- or start 10 mins. from now, and say "That's it, I'm going to stay within my calories" and just start logging everything. I just have to log everything in My Diary or whatever it's called (It's only been a month for me) but it does work. I know I have…

I commiserate. Just don't give up. I went on a mini binge on the way home because I was really really hungry. And that's when I lose it. But I stopped myself (not immediately) and wrote a post to MFP instead and I'm getting my support right here right now. I feel as if every time we blow it, we get another chance right…

You have friends here. Believe me. I'm not doing much inviting of "Friends" because I can barely keep up with the rest of email in my life. But I check in here under Community and I respond to others and others respond to me. Do it for you! For whatever reason you want to be fit... whether it's a healthier long life, or…

Hello, everyone! I hope you are enjoying the summer. My goals include: Yoga class once a week; a few sun salutes in between 6-8 minutes per day on the elliptical (I hate exercise) 1200 calories a day and log every meal and snack Check Community on MFP now and then to get or lend some motivation And not be embarrassed about…

Hi, I'm fairly new here and I think the issue is that there are so many posts coming up -- a new one something like every two seconds in each of the categories, that it's hard to comment much, especially if one is working full time and doesn't want to spent hours on this site. I'm trying to use MFP in moderation -- mostly…

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I will be patient, keep on track, and weigh myself less. For exercise, damn, I just can't stand it. But I'll add a minute to the eight I do on the elliptical.
-
Wow, what a difference. You must feel great. Congratulations.

Don't give up. Every day is a new day. It's when we get discouraged and say "What's the use?" that things go down hill. Everyone falls off the wagon. MYF can be really helpful, especially the app, if you have an ipod or smartphone. It's like a game! Good luck!

I haven't figured out what adding Friends means but by all means add me! I'm at the end of week two on 1200 calories and I do feel really good and have lost five pounds (or close to it). But I have to say I'm hungry a lot and think about food all the time. I don't want to do that. I need to find low-calorie foods or drinks…

It took a long time to put the weight on, it's going to take some time to take it off, but you'll get there. Be patient.

It's a new day and I'm back on track starting the minute I woke up. No guilt about yesterday. And we had extra cookies which I just brought in to work so they wouldn't be in the house. Just have to stay away from the staff lunch table.

You are the one who knows your body and knows what will make you feel good. You can get a lot of support from this message board. Hang in there. And maybe find an offhand answer for people who tell you you don't need to lose (more) weight. Something like, "Oh well, just working on getting healthy," and then walk off, avoid…

I'm quite new to MFP and I have the app on my ipod touch. So far, I'm doing really well at keeping motivated because 1) I'm treating it like a game as the calories count down; and 2) I have quite a few clothes I really miss wearing and am determined to get back into. I think it'll help my romantic part of my life, too, if…

Inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing. I hope MFP was a big help to you because I'm new and very optimistic.

I'm nervous about it too, since I've only been on MFP for a little over a week and I can fall off easily. I'm going to log everything when I eat it, I'll be able to duck out and do that. We're having friends over to the house for the holiday for dinner. I made a low calorie fruit cobbler and if I can keep my portion under…

Lots of short people on this site! I'm 4'11" and I have lost a few pounds thanks to MFP but I have about five more I'd like to lose, and losing weight is very hard for me. I think my body really wants to be boxy the way all my ancestors were and I don't want to be. More importantly I want to become more aware of what I'm…

Congratulations, that must feel great. It's so good to drop some weight early on and then keep whittling away until you feel better and better. I hope to lose 7 too, even if it takes me a little while. Thanks for sharing your good news.

Every day is a new day. You can blow it one day and start all over fresh the next day. I think if we feel guilty about blowing it we can get very down on ourselves and feel like: I'm never going to be able to do this. But it looks as if you have lost 50 pounds. That's phenomenal. I bet it's about what one of the twins…
