  • What is your macro target? 60/35/5 Do you usually hit? pretty close, protein is an issue some days What is your calorie target (if any)? Do you usually hit? 1700 almost always under..unless chicken wings are involved How much do you exercise? None, Light, Moderate, Heavy? 7 months on keto and was little exercise..new year…
  • got to add jicama to my veggie list..awesome substitute for potatoes just a little sweeter..if you can find it get it.
  • I'm so there.
  • Broccoli, cauliflower and green beans are the mainstays. Well that and roasted kale chips..oh my! Trying to incorporate some more different things but those are the main ones.
  • Feel free to add me. I've been low carb for almost 7 months and never going back to a high carb lifestyle again. The benefits of low carb definitely outweigh the taste of bread/pasta/rice. When people say "you'll gain it back if you stop" are right but you gain weight back from any diet if you go back to stuffing your face…
  • 100% agreement with Jim. My net carbs are typically in the 10-20 range primarily from splenda or veggies. I just started cardio this week after an 8 month absence from it. My 1st day back I did 25% more in time at a faster speed then when I was low calorie/high carb diet AND felt better afterwards. My energy levels are…
  • Oh god...kale chips..I found out about them here on MFP and they are now the favorite veggie in the house. season them bad boys with some old bay and they are just too good.
  • What Megan said. I've been on it since mid June and loving it. Energy levels through the roof, sleep better etc etc. I'm never going back to a regular carb laden diet..this is my lifestyle now. Feel free to add me :)
  • Well after 3 days of partying I've found my tolerance is much higher then before, just not as high as when in carb mode. A steak dinner first seems to help lol
  • Sam even on a tight budget you can do keto and in fact would probably be cheaper. Remember the basis of a ketogenic diet is that your body switches from burning carbs to burning fat. So fatty foods are better and give more energy AS WELL as more filling. This means you can buy the fattier i.e. cheaper meats etc, not to…
  • Most people who've been successful on keto don't go back to eating high carb. The difference in energy levels alone make lots of people stay low carb. I know personally that I will never go back to a high carb diet when I get to my goal weight. I will probably add some more fruits and the occasional roll/bread into the…
  • Watch your fat content, remember unlike most diets fat calories are the fuel your body needs. Also some days you just need more fuel especially if you're doing a lot of activity. Drink water first to see if that solves the hunger and if not then eat keto food and just remember to eat when your hungry and stop when full and…
  • I haven't tried it yet, but I think some miracle noodles could be a good keto substitute in a chicken soup. I just got some recently and once I make a roasted chicken the rest will be going into a soup with the noodles to see how it comes out. Right now when feeling sick I get some powerade zero to make sure my…
  • you can get some good sugar free ketchup that's low carb if you've got a craving for something with ketchup. As for pizza I used to do the same thing..until I made a meatza (pizza but the crust is made of some sort of ground meat, my fav is sausage) then you'll never pull toppings off a regular pizza again.
  • No coffee? couldn't do it, I don't think mankind started to become civilized until we discovered coffee and if it was gone we'd all revert back to being savages in loincloths.
  • A keto diet is crafted to get your body into ketosis where it swtiches from burning carbs for energy to burning fat for energy so a fat rich diet is basically just fuel. You can't just eat thousands of calories a day of it, still need a deficit to lose weight.
  • The general rules of thumb that a lot of people follow are: under 30 grams of net carbs (total carbs-fiber) 60-65% calories from fat, 30-35% from protein and the rest from the carbs. Basically a keto menu is lots of meat, green veggies, butter, good oils (like olive or coconut). Try to let your carbs only come from…
  • Rudy, Brians Song or Old Yeller...I heard Marley and Me would do it too but won't watch it lol.
  • I just say no and remind myself that more snacks=bigger slacks.
  • Since I started keto I've started to love coconut oil. Mainly in my coffee. Nice dose of good fats in the morning for energy not to mention the digestive benefits!
  • Youtube is full of diy videos on how to cook different things, figure out what you want to cook and let google be your guide :) It's how I learned to finally make a good omelet instead of always making them scrambled lol.
  • Nah fat guys like me rarely get stalked lol..hoping to lose enough weight to get a few stalkers tho!
  • I made them for the first time the other night and we loved them here. I cut the spines out mixed up some olive oil with garlic/black pepper in a ziplock bag, put the kale in the bag shook it up, then spread out on a pan and baked for 10 minutes at 350. Came out great. This weekend we'll be trying some with old bay and…
  • nuts are fine or a little veggie pack. Just be careful with nuts because their calorie total adds up fast.
  • Feel free to add me, I've been doing keto since late June and absolutely love it! Don't worry about calorie counts the first week or 2,just get used to eating the right things then worry about the calories. Also, tweak your mfp settings to show net carbs because that's what matters more so then just carbs in general.
  • I haven't had that issue and I fast for 24-36 hrs during the week pretty routinely. Could just be your system cleaning itself out. When you fast, what are you drinking?
  • Feel free to add me too. I've been on keto since late June and love it, for me it's not a diet anymore but rather a lifestyle now. Drinking-any distilled alcohol is pretty keto friendly it's just what you mix with it, so use diet soda or sugar free drinks..and for the love of all that is whiskey switch off of JD and move…
  • not true about the quest bars, many of them have sugar alcohols in them, got to look at each type to be sure.
  • Well the only real lack of energy you get in Keto is during the keto flu, which doesn't even hit everyone. It happens in the first week or 2 of going low carb and most people get through it pretty easily with some powerade zero or chicken broth to replace electrolytes. Quite honestly once through that you'll have more…
  • Plenty of reasons to be on a low carb diet. 1) it works 2) carbs are full of processed food/sugar/junk. Eating low carb generally translates into eating fresh non frankenfood. from reddits Keto in a nutshell https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gZfJejOM8fJsX1iCilmnpp1qmT_KncJwWCR4-EsaEHc/edit?pli=1 Also one of the effects…
