You know at some point I'd like to do a tour de MFP Friends, would take me back to Yorkshire, Japan, Australia and some nice places in the states, could be one hell of a pub crawl, all in the name of a free pint :) (or perhaps sake in Japan?) Shame I only had three days for Yorkshire really.

Superb final report on a great three week event, many thanks. I'm in awe of the speed demons, that's one category I'll never trouble and I take my hat off to you and to all those that put some extra effort into the tour, always love seeing the stats come in and I'll miss being a team member in the next one due to my focus…

The triple tours didn't go quite to plan but I'm still pretty happy with the training stuck in since April, six weeks to LeJog and now it's just standard training to the event in September to keep the fitness up. Stats so far are: 6,780 km over 108 rides with 58,323 meters of climbing, 294 hours in the saddle. All in the…

Very impressive performance, don't know how you got such a high average speed with all that climbing, I can just about keep it above 20kph when sticking in big hills and distances. I'm looking forward to getting in a few days healing time and doing some standard 50s for a few weeks now until Septembers big un. I appreciate…

You know I wondered about sticking SPDs on mine, I think if I'm to ride it more then the odd occasion then I might be tempted.

Hate to tell you this but it finishes on Sunday, there's always the Summer challenge though.

Now that is some stats.

My hope is for at least the fetch to run continuously now so at least it keeps on trucking while I'm away, it was just rather unfortunate for these new style connection issues to happen over the weekend, wasn't overly keen on spending a couple of hours programming on my day off work either but if it does the trick then for…

On the training Le Tour Triple Tour front it's not gone super smooth but it's still been some excellent training and prep for LeJog, two tours down (1087.52 km & 12430m climbed) and one tour up to the Lakes to go. Next up on Friday, bit apprehensive about this one: Day 2 will change a little to a straight 100 miles,…

Ok amendments have been made, it's logic goes a little like this: Spawn a Strava fetch thread, if it takes longer then 10 mins then kill kill kill and then spawn another. Wash, rinse and repeat. Test is running so lets see if it works for us.

Found that a new issue occurs with the Strava pull, sometimes when calling to fetch the data it keeps hold of the process so the routine effectively hangs with no timeout, it's a bit like starting a handshake with someone and the other person refusing to let go, I'm calling it the Strava death grip, a new glitch with the…
-
Yep if your closer to the 10th minute of next polling fetch that'll happen, pleased with how it's worked today, hopefully we will be good from here on in.
-
Thanks :), the new process is trucking along nicely, just remember to give it 10 before checking both CycLeagues and the Spreadsheet for any updates, the time delay could work in our favour regarding giving people chance to delete bad activities or duplicates. Down the line I'll add in a pull from Strava request on the…

I've spent a little time on a workaround for this, currently running every 10 mins, let see how it picks up todays rides. The difference is it does a complete reconnection on everything every 10 mins rather then keeping existing connections, also re-initialises the DB connection so this may well be the solution to all the…

I'm afraid we have a big issue to contend with, Strava have changed something, meaning it no longer allows polling in the same manor in which it did before, it looks like once you've made the connection to Strava it allows the fetch once, you then have to disconnect and connect again, at least what it looks like currently,…

Last gerbil wasn't exactly dead but had just gone catatonic .... staring into space and not even reporting an error, very odd and the first time I've seen that, adding it to the scenarios to cover when I add disaster recovery routines, in the meantime a new gerbil has been installed and the current one is off to seek…

Appreciate the comments Mark, I'm sorry for her team mates but she had to go, her miles will count upto the last import so as not to impact the team retrospectively, however automation wise her rides will no longer be picked up, if you wish you can add her rides in manually but thats your call. I'm not looking to ditch…

Regarding the member I referred to earlier in this thread, yes I may have stated her as a d..., but she bloomin well deserved it, over reaction, not from where I'm standing. As far as the Strava challenges league & CycLeagues goes shes certainly not welcome, slagging off a system that I've put my time, effort and money…

Sheez, at least nothing's broke body wise, driving without due care and attention is a serious offence, hope you reported them or they will do worse to some other poor cyclist :/

Bad mouthing a service that is there to help others and make life easier like you did in your status feed is a dick move, and you Susan are a dick, sling you hook, just wish I was near a PC so I could kick your *kitten* off the Strava and MFP groups.
-
Quite frankly use the door, idiotic comments about a free system set up for a community are not welcome and neither are you, thanks for being a royal pain in the *kitten* and putting me in the worse mood before setting off for a tour!
-
You know I don't know why I bother when people complain so bl&0dy quickly, this is a free sodding service, seriously I'm just setting off for a long weekends riding and I get these really annoying comments, it's a beta process FFS!!!!! Not happy!!!!

CycLeagues: Background Strava pull fell on it's *kitten* at 4:32pm GMT yesterday, only just noticed, now back up and running. Lovely Strava based error: java.net.UnknownHostException: www.strava.com at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at…

Oh and on a Cycleague note I've realised that some of the missing profile pics are due to them being out of date with Strava and not just private, I'll sort out a 'set profile picture' or 'get latest from Strava' in a profile settings page. We've been pretty lucky so far that the background Strava fetch routine has been…

Yeh like cycle up Mount Snowdonia in crazy weather conditions and nearly do a lemming impression off a cliff due to inept brakes .... don't do it people!

Haha what a loser!! :)

Looks like a well kept beaut, they were built to last.

Love the research and very cool to see the old reference material for the Majestic, my aim was to have an old style bike for that summer fun ride which as it stands fits the bill nicely, I think the only parts I'd look at changing are the saddle to match the old style tape even though the original was white and black, I…

My little project looked like it was almost beyond repair, had the look of something that had been left at the bottom of the sea for a hundred years: But it cleaned up quite nice: Before: After: Having given it a little test ride last night it rode quite well, not sure I'd want to do an epic century on it but still it's a…

Well that was a very quick year lol, decided to pull the old bike out the shed and start investigating, amazingly everything is in really good condition under the knackered bar 'foam' wtf, the multiple levels of muck and grime, cleaned up nice, frame obviously looks old n worn but no harmful signs of rust, I think another…
