Motivator: I've gotten into hobby modeling so my motivation is looking good for photoshoots. Plan: My plan of action is to go to the gym every weekday and stay close to my calorie goals. Help: Lately homework and social events are leading to unnecessary snaking. Getting encouragement from friends to meet my calorie goals…

Those side effects are rare: http://www.livestrong.com/article/54059-glucosamine-chondroitin-side-effects/

One thing you might try is glucosamine chondroitin. It helps with many joint issues. Poor quality or worn out shoes can also make your knees hurt. Maybe look into new shoes. You may also consider running on a treadmill. Treadmills absorb more impact than pavement.

Try non-sweetened flavored sparkling water. Yum! http://www.lacroixwater.com/

I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes.... I miss you potatoes. :-(

Actually.... I'm pretty sure this counts as harassment and you don't have to take it. If you have the time and money you could probably get a lawsuit going against the company. In the mean time you might just bring it to HR's attention that you *could* get a lawsuit going.

Got my results today. They did a fasting test and my Hemoglobin A1c was 5.8 H. My doctors current plan is just to test it again at my next years physical (I'm not sure if the is an insurance thing). Fluke or not, my test result is low enough for me not to freak out terribly, but high enough to start watching carbs and…

5lbs would put me at 125lbs at 5'8". :-S

Thank you very much for sharing! After I told the receptionist that I work out 5-6 times a week she said "Oh, would you like me to send you some information on Prediabetes then?" To which I replied "YES!" and then she said, "would you like me to send you your lab results to?" *facepalm* After I get my results I'm going to…

Thank you so much for chiming in and for the advise!

I thought whole grains were good for a diabetic diet...?

Thanks everyone! It's good to hear that a 1/2 hour of weight training has benefited others. I've gotten some excellent tips and I should keep in mind I don't have to limit my strength training to the gym!

As I understand, the the heart needs to be at an increased rate for at least 20 minutes to work that muscle. My dad had heart disease so I want to make sure my heart stays healthy. I don't think switching back and forth between weights and cardio would be very beneficial to my heart....?

Strait black tea and green to upset my stomach. Thankfully there are tons of flavors of herbal tea all with 0 calories. I also recommend chewing gum.

I don't think you need to pay more to be allowed to grunt when you work out. I pay $10/month at Crunch Gym and their rule is "no judgements". Lady would be the one breaking the rules there. Get *yourself* some head phones and that will probably discourage people from complaining at you if they don't think you can hear…

Thank you for sharing. I've just gotten to my goal weight and I'm trying to switch to maintaining instead of loosing. I'm trying not to freak out when the scale says I've gained a pound or two. Any advise on how to make sure you don't backslide with out obsessing over it would be appreciated.

Brilliant idea! My jeans started falling off my butt, but I was broke and had to wait a month to get more. :-(

Thankfully I only need to worry about feeding myself and my BF and not a family of 4... but we are still on a budget when it comes to food. I save money buying frozen fruits and veggies when I can. Frozen foods have pretty much the same nutritional value as fresh and also are pretty sparse on the preservatives too. If I'm…

I find when I'm cutting down on calories I take a lot of dairy out of my diet. When I'm looking for a tasty snack to add a few more calories I grab some yogurt. Greek yogurt has even more calories and more protein. To save on $$ I make my own yogurt cups for work. Yogurt + Tupperware.

I hear you. I was a 32 B and I need to get new bras to fit the smaller me and I'm a little afraid at what size they come back with :-( .... But hey, I can always wear push-up bras to change my look! But there's not much I can do to change the shape of my tummy. ;-) If I had to choose.... ;-)

My boobs. I didn't have that much to start and now I'm down a cup size. :-(

Grab a fat-free yogurt, a banana, and some grapes before you run out the door. All the things are healthy and easily transportable. Make sure to grab a bottle of water and drink it all to make you feel more full in the morning.

Thanks for sharing! ... have you tried any other brands of lycra headbands?

Sounds like you're a belly dancer too! Welcome!

If I'm not dripping in sweat by the time I'm done working out I feel disappointed. At the same time I'm annoyed when sweat drips into my eyes. My solution? Sweat bands! I got some cheap ones here: http://www.3rdpoweroutlet.com/solid-green-sweatbands.html?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cse but they are starting to…

I think you have a good point about adding more healthy fat to my diet. I'm thinking I may start adding some avocado to my salads I make for lunch. Thanks for the tip! :-) I will disagree with you about the real butter though. margarine is bad for you because it has partially-hydrogenated oils (AKA trans-fat). Butter is…

"the stereotype that fat people have better personalities. We can't rely on good looks, we have to actually develop a personality and be a fun/nice person to be around!" As with all stereo types, this is not always true.

I'm eating ~2 apples and a banana every day.

But don't almond butter and peanut butter have the same amount of calories? Should I just give in and eat peanut butter?
