It's going to be fine my friend! And from one guy to another, the smaller you get while losing weight, the bigger your junk will look! :D

To hit the "teens". That is, to drop under the 220's which is where I am currently slumming it.

Hello and welcome to the group!

I was in my early 20's when I was hospitalized for kidney stones. It was the most agonizing experience of my life. I was told basically anything you drink with "sediment" in it can contribute to stones and I was now more likely to have them again. Sediment can be anything from calcium in milk to the syrup in soda to the…

My first eating out was about 4 weeks post-op. My wife and I took our two daughters out before a band concert to Steak & Shake. I had a cup of vegetable soup. Filled me up and didn't cause any major issues. I'm not sure what your doctor has ordered, but mine wanted me to stay away from caffeine for at least a month because…

Don't think of it as selfish. Being healthier will keep you around for your family for a longer time. So in a way, it's one of the most selfless things you can do for them. :) There is an adjustment period where your family is eating different foods than you, naturally. Honestly (and I think most people here would agree),…

1. Made it through FOUR separate Thanksgiving meals and lost around 2.5lbs for the week. 2. Instead of punching yet ANOTHER hole in my belt, I got a new one.
-
Awesome news! Don't freak out, it's going to be a-ok. Like has already been said, your surgery team and the people on this forum are here for you! I've lost a hair under 60lbs in 3.5 months and feel better than I have since I was in my teens! Keep us updated on your date and how everything is going!

Congratulations on getting your surgery! Stick with your doctor's plan he has laid out for you and you will see results!
-
Dude! Fantastic progress! Don't give up.

Aldi's rocks! We've had one locally forever now. The only downside is when you forget to bring a quarter to pop the shopping cart loose. :s

1. Hit the "220's". Should be easy seeing as how I am only two pounds away and today is 12/01! 2. Hit the "teens." Possible, if I work on #3. 3. Walk more. Every. Single. Day. 4. Survive the holiday "junk food bonanza." I made it through FOUR Thanksgiving meals, should be able to do this too! 5. Get busy with the strength…

Had my surgery on 08/18/16. Feel free to add me!

You are awesome! I cannot wait to make my own pic fitting my whole body in one leg of my old shorts. LOL! Seriously, congratulations and thanks for the motivation to keep plugging along!
-
@anbrdr, nice profile pic. Though I miss the old one. You looked like you were going to kill somebody. LOL! >:)

I weighed in this past Sunday and officially weight less than I have since 1999! Also, chalk it up to different body composition than in the past and different brands, but I am wearing smaller pants than I have since....as far back as I remember paying attention to my pants size. :D

You guys are all fantastic! Be proud of all that you have accomplished!

You definitely don't want to cheat. The liquid diet pre-op is to ensure your liver shrinks. This helps avoid nicks which can be very serious/life threatening. How long is your liquid diet? Mine was 3 days. Every doctor is different. I have co-workers going through the process and their surgeon won't allow them to drink…

There really isn't a "wrong" time to get your approval. Hope you get some good news!

Everyone reacts differently to the surgery. I was fortunate enough to not have any dry heaves or nausea afterward, just the usual pain from surgery, incisions, etc. Sounds like you are progressing along pretty much accordingly. Be sure to drink enough protein (sips of course). It will help your body to physically heal and…

I log every morsel, every day. If I eat a single, tiny Hot Tamales (candy) I log it. If you don't, it's waaaay to easy to eat a bunch of junk in little bits, not even think about it and before you know it you've taken in hundreds of extra calories.
-
I'm not sure my friend. Each insurance company/HMO/whatever is different with the hoops they make you jump through. I hope you get your answer and an approval very soon!

Of course, this is a huge life change so jitters & second thoughts, etc. are normal. I can't speak for everyone, but regardless of what anyone else thinks you are doing this for you. Even if the people right next to you aren't all that supportive, you have the MFP community and you friend across the country. Don't feel…

I haven't been on the dating scene since 2006, when my wife and I got together and even then, it wasn't really that I was dating. My first wife passed in 2004 and I moved to a different job location and met my current wife there. We got to know each other, after several months went on a date and it clicked. We saw each…

My wife and I were hugging. Just because we love each other, standing in the kitchen. She wrapped her arms around me and said "I can get my arms all the way around you now." I love her so much!

Spectacular work my friend!

I've had a couple of moments where I "stress eat." It wasn't really a problem until the kids came home and filled two giant bowls with their Halloween candy. I know it's there in the kitchen and it's hard to resist. The only other time I can really think of was when my wife brought home a slice of caramel covered…

I hope they call you. In my personal experience with UMR insurance, I played hell getting my date set. After I had completed all the prerequisites, the insurance company kept refusing to give an approval because the surgery center wouldn't give them a surgery date. The surgery center wouldn't give a date because they…
