  • Last week, I dropped back under 200lbs. Only the second time I have seen "onederland" since I was a young teen!
  • @crosbyp12003 don't fret because you didn't lose a "magical" number of 100 in your first year. You lost 61 which is nothing to scoff at. Don't ever feel like you failed. You keep going and that is what is important. Keep plugging away and you will get to where you want to be. Don't feel jealous of other people who lost…
  • Congratulations @HLaR79! I've not had a single regret from my surgery!
  • I was given 80 grams by my dietician. I usually hit right around that. Some days less, some days more but on average, I'm right around the 80.
  • I'm not really sure about the administrators taking suggestions. I think they just base the minimum calories on federal guidelines. I've just learned to live with not completing my diary when that was the case. Even now when I eat on average & log 1500 calories, I usually don't bother to finish out my diary as I am so used…
  • Welcome @littlegibbs62! I don't think there is any way to close out your daily log if you don't meet the minimum calories, regardless of free or paid versions of the app.
  • Congrats on the surgery @lindanewland37! Glad everything is going great for you! Like @HappyKat5 said, relax and enjoy the bad tv. I did and found I was glad not to be hungry since it seemed every commercial was for Burger King, McDonald's Arby's or some other fast food joint.
  • Awesome work & dedication! Keep going, you look great!
  • @Stephaniev51697 That's awesome! Another problem I have is being able to meal-prep. With our 8 month old little man, there isn't much time for anything else. I've been spending between 60-90 minutes every evening lately raking huge piles of leaves (large yard surrounded by 11 acres of woods) while he takes his evening nap.…
  • @Stephaniev51697 I feel your pain. I start out every day on the right track. I take a protein shake, protein bar & sensibly-portioned lunch to work and do fine. After work, it's a struggle to not "fall apart" and eat whatever. I've found that doing yard work or some other laborious activity takes my mind off of food and…
  • Welcome to the group @lindanewland37! You've come to the right place for judgment-free support!
  • I still enjoy eating food! One of my favorite indulgences is Black Label Mtn. Dew for my sugar fix. I still eat pizza, but instead of half a pie, I eat one slice and feel satisfied. If I want an Oreo, oatmeal cream pie or whatever, I just make sure it falls within my daily caloric allotment. I don't eat for the joy of it…
  • Welcome @jenniepriebe! You've come to the right place for tips & support! I had the sleeve done in August 2016. Feel free to ask me anything!
  • @jcavanna2 I know all about life being insane! I'm constantly picking up and dropping off my two daughters from various school activities, soccer practice, band practice, etc. I have my little 8 month old buddy that keeps me busy just about every waking second. A cat & dog, going to visit family, work (with mandatory…
  • Happy surgeversary! You look great! Definitely not the easy way out by any means. Every day is still the routine of counting calories, measuring foods and trying to stay within my limits....all while trying not to feel deprived. Some days I have a frozen Coke from Burger King, sometimes I drink straight water all day long.…
  • I think that no matter what, as long as you are using a safe method to lose weight nobody should have a problem with it. After all, the goal is to make yourself healthier. Whether that's losing weight "the old fashioned way" or surgery, you are working to make YOU better. If anyone has a problem with that, screw 'em. My…
  • I've heard more times than I could count how surgery is the "easy way out." The main forums here-particularly the success stories" section-usually includes comments like "I did it the hard way. No pills, no surgery, blah, blah, blah." And hey if that's how you feel, cool for you. I've never personally been discriminated…
  • I guess I am what you would call an "emotional eater." I've lived with depression & anxiety disorder for as long as I can remember. My depression usually manifests in me getting angry. Zoloft has kept me most in control for a long time now (as well as other meds since my official diagnosis 18 years ago). I still get angry,…
  • Sorry, haven't been on the forum since last week. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!
  • @Slimthickumz I'm glad I could give you some insight. I had never had ANY surgery prior to this procedure. While in pre-op, they put a shot in my IV they said would help me relax. Well, I was out! I next woke up after the surgery feeling sick to my stomach like I had to throw up. I fell back asleep and woke up when they…
  • @brendajean316 @mmary925 and @sskulltulaa all I can tell you is that it is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. My BMI was around 41 when I had the gastric sleeve surgery in August 2016. Here's the pros & cons I have experienced. Pros: Knee, hip and back pain have gone away Blood pressure which was borderline…
  • This made me LOL. My tiger stripes are faded out now too!
  • @AlbertaB2018 don't be scared. I never had a surgery prior to my gastric sleeve. I remember...not much really. I was in pre-op sitting on the bed. They gave me a shot into my IV that they said would make me drowse. The next thing I remember, I woke up with an upset stomach with the nurse by me and told her I had to throw…
  • I know that people who have RNY have absorption problems getting their nutrients. I had the standard sleeve and after I could start eating protein rich foods, they told me to taper off on the drinks, bars, etc and try to get as much as I can from regular foods.
  • Hello! Sleeved August 2016. HW 293 SW 287 LW 193 CW 210 (haven't gotten weighed in several weeks) Had a weight gain while my wife was pregnant and we were traveling 120-130 miles round trip twice (or more) a week to see the doctors (high risk pregnancy), then two weeks straight while the little guy was in the NICU. All…
  • They are probably recommending it from the protein drinks specifically because they are the easiest source of protein for you to digest after surgery and before you start introducing protein-rich foods like chicken, tuna, etc.
  • I had the sleeve done August 2016. My nutritionist wanted me to get 80 grams of protein daily from all sources combined. Some days I have less, some days more. I believe I average out at around 75-78. As @Samquentin stated, follow the guidelines your surgeon gave you.
  • Not a real biggie, but I had to tighten my work belts up as they were starting to droop. Between my regular doctor appointments on February 1st and March 1st, I also lost 14.5lbs! @Samquentin, my wife developed gallstones and had to have her gallbladder removed last year. She was sleeved back in 2014.
  • A large portion of it is probably water weight. 8lbs is no big deal. You will have it off again in no time! ;)
  • Oh yeah, I was pretty much shocked. I knew I was gaining because my shirts weren't fitting so nice and my work uniform was getting tighter. I was afraid to step on the scale. During that timeframe when I was eating junk, I was also not logging my food. I went back and did some calculations adding in what I ate during a…
