Ah...the good old scale. Trust me when I say that there will be days and sometimes weeks when the scale won't move. I too was a daily weigher at one point but gave it up as I just drove myself insane with it. Now, I weigh every week or two weeks. Your body will retain water and respond in different ways to the surgery. Two…

For the first couple of months, I struggled with getting all my fluids. For me, I stop at Sonic in the morning and get a 44oz ice water with lemon. After a bit, I started adding blackberry flavor which I believe is Stevia sweetened. At home, I use one of those little packets of sugar free Crush or Hawaiian Punch flavor. I…

At 42, my wife and I have conceived our first child together. I figured after 25 years of being sexually active along with periods of actually TRYING to conceive that it just wouldn't ever happen. Waddaya know?!

Been on Zoloft for years myself and it hasn't hindered my weight loss in any way. I actually started off on 200mg (100mg twice a day) and have widdled myself down to 50mg in the morning only. Exercise and weight loss has improved my mental health more than the medication did. I'm not saying that your results will mirror…

I've had various issues. The app automatically sets my calorie goal to 1500. It used to be set at 1480. Now, it bounces back and forth between the two. Some days, it says one, some days the other. No rhyme or reason to it. I've also had issues where the amount of weight I have lost changes. One day, I had lost 60lbs (I…

I didn't have to drink any magnesium citrate, so I am afraid I cannot be of help here. But I did have a question about protein shake consumption pre-op and called my surgeon's office to confirm the directions. I would recommend that. You are going to do just fine by the way! Like @cabennett99 said, post-op you aren't going…

I don't worry about my macros. I go for at least 80 grams of protein daily, avoid carbs as much as possible and have found that with my limited food intake I am naturally limiting the carbohydrates I consume by focusing on the protein.

@garber6th I guess it's a good thing I've never really liked coffee. LOL. My wife who had the surgery 4.5 years ago never stopped drinking caffeine. She's a Starbucks fan too! :p She gets them and always tries to get me to try them. Bleh! :s As for me, I've always had different reactions to sugar and caffeine. As a child,…

I didn't try adjusting my percentages on the site/app. I just go for 80 grams of protein and keep my carbs and sugars low. It's worked fine for me so far. Good luck!

100,000% agree with you @Aztec4Life. I've been reading more and more studies about (refined) sugar and how detrimental it is to your health. No surprise that the "soft drink" makers contribute donations toward questionable studies on the effects of sugar. For decades, fat has been the target for obesity when in fact, sugar…

My surgeon recommended 70 for women, 80 for men. Once you are eating solid foods, it's not too hard to get your protein. Just remember to eat your protein first. I supplement my protein every day with a Premier Protein Chocolate Shake (30 grams) and an protein bar some days.

Thanks for the replies!

Hi Sara and welcome! I'm a corrections officer (prison guard) and my surgeon released me back to work after 3 weeks. My particular job has a list of essential functions such as lifting a certain amount, running, etc. I would definitely suggest working on better habits pre-op as @Aztec4Life suggests. I followed all of my…

The bariatric vitamins are all the right combinations of what is recommended post-op. Some insurance companies cover them, others do not. My insurance is the latter. So I just went with generic where I could and saved myself a tone of money. And a question for the coffee & tea drinkers on here. Did your doctor recommend…

I definitely wouldn't stock up ahead of time. Like others have already said, you might be surprised how your tastes change. I used to love the Premier Protein Strawberry shakes pre-op. Afterward, I couldn't gag a single one down and let my kids drink them. The bariatric vitamins can also be super expensive. I buy mine at…

Welcome @Lisidy! I think everyone knows the feeling of being afraid that the surgery won't work. Sometimes you will lose weight fast each week. Sometimes you will stall. Trust in the procedure, follow your doctor's recommendations and stay strong. The pounds will keep coming off. I've had the same feelings and thinking…

Good luck @NicoleL874!

I really like the NatureMade Vitamelts B12. 1500mcg each, they dissolve under your tongue fast and they have a pleasant berry flavor.

@DizGal, I'm so sorry for the way your husband treated you. When my wife and I started dating and subsequently married, she was around 280lbs. I loved her for who she was and still do just the same at 145ish lbs (I'm guessing because she keeps it secret!). I will love her the same if not a great deal more as our baby grows…

Thank you everyone! My family and I have been truly blessed. o:)

@chubby_checkers thank you!

Thank you! One of the biggest reasons for me having the wls was so I could be active with my girls and live a longer life to spend with my wife & them. I think the only downside is I won't be retiring from the prison anytime soon. :s

Everyone is different. Post op, some people are not hungry, others are very hungry. Some people are always sick, others are never sick. If I were to try to eat 800 calories or less per day, I would fail. I would also make myself feel like I was starving and thus more prone to relapsing into bad eating habits. I didn't put…

I'm curious about how I will work maintenance once I get there. I figure I will continue to eat healthy, stay within the calorie range for my weight (if I can eat that many calories!), take my supplements and exercise. I don't think weight fluctuations will bother me once I reach my healthy weight range as I don't think…

Congrats Dre and welcome to the group!

A tattoo sounds like a good reward. Funny you mention that. Back in 2012 when I went in hardcore diet mode (sadly alas, I gained it all back and then some) I got my first tattoo. Right after my surgery in August, I got another tattoo. I have two others, but I think I will mark my breakthrough of under 200lbs (hopefully…

The trend weight is pretty cool, but personally I have tried not to stress myself about weighing very often. I find that personally when I weight daily or every couple of days, upward fluctuations or even a stagnant measurement really piss me off and make me feel like I am busting my hump for nothing. I've even gone from…

Yeah. The other night, I wanted something sweet. My wife had a Payday and I went for broke. About two minutes into that, I deeply regretted it. Didn't puke or get "dumping syndrome" but my stomach let me know I was never to do that again. :s
