Hello and congratulations on your surgery! To answer your questions: 1) "No straws" is a guideline. To my understanding, drinking through a straw makes you suck up excess air. I've just accustomed myself to taking the lid & straw out of my daily Sonic ice water with lemon. 2) Check with your surgeon for clarification. Best…

The protein drinks are rough. The only one I have found I can consistently stand to drink is Premier Protein Chocolate. Which is odd since I always preferred the strawberry flavor before and now I nearly gag when I smell the strawberry drinks! Muscle Milk's chocolate isn't too bad either.

Had to pull my belt in to the next hole which I haven't used in nearly four years. I've also been "sugar free" since my pre-op liquid diet. No soda or other sweets except the 1 gram or so in my protein bars & drinks. I don't miss it and never plan to go back to ingesting it.

I'm a hair over a month out and consume anywhere from 500-800 calories daily. MFP says my weekly average is about 690 most of the time. As others have said, concentrate on getting enough protein and water/liquids. As time goes by, your stomach won't be as sensitive and you will be able to add different foods that are…

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I have seen advertisements for a Starbucks cold coffee (the ones that comes in glass bottles) that are high in protein. You might want to look into that.

I was dying for something...ANYTHING solid after the first week! Hang in there, drink your liquids (water, broth, protein drinks) and try to be patient. I avoided and still avoid almost anything sweet or artificially sweetened. If it has more than about 4-5 grams of sugar in it, it will make me feel like crap. Every…

I use the Premier Protein premade drinks. Post-op, I can't stomach more than a half at a time as anything sweet tasting has become repulsive to me. So I usually drink a half in the morning with my morning vitamins and then the second half I drink around 7PM.

Hello rosannamo! I'm new here and also just had my surgery 0n 08/18. At a month out, I was down to 257 from a starting weight of 289. I really need to put a more current pic up as this one is from about four years ago! My best advice for you now is to follow your surgeons guidelines and not try to push to eat foods earlier…

Had my sleeve done on 08/18. Loving life again and feeling better than I have since my early 20's!

Hello all! I'm no longer in the "waiting period" and had a successful "sleeve" surgery done on August 18, 2016. My insurance required a six month supervised diet as well as seeing a psychologist. I started the entire process back in October 2015 with my first seminar. November I met with the dietician to get everything set…

It all depends on how much & how fast you want to lose. Use the calculator, figure out your daily caloric needs to maintain your weight. You only need to eat 500 calories less per day to lose one pound per week. There are plenty of apps for your smartphone (asuming you have one) that will tell you how many calories you…

YOU are the success story. Doing exactly what you are doing, you will lose weight. A calorie deficit along with walking works. I started at the beginning of July and as of two days ago, the scale says I have lost 17.2 pounds. If you get a good pedometer or just keep time, you can measure how many calories you burn during…

I don't put much stock into these fads or questionable statistics that skew the information in whatever direction they see fit. I don't know if it is any help to you, but what I do is avoid (as much as possible) processed foods, anything with aspartame and any excess over my daily needs (proteins, sugars, carbs).
