I find it is the easiest way to eat for life. The problem is that there is so much junk food in our path that will derail us and send us back to the starting line! Taubes isn't just a reporter, he lives the low carb lifestyle and is a healthy member of the low carb community!

I drink it in my morning coffee with heavy cream and sweetners. Yummmmmm. It is good for my joint inflamation so that is why I started to use it.

I thought that was cleaver! Atkins, Traditional low fat, Ornish and the Zone were the diets that were used in the study. They covered up most of the graphics that had copyrighted covers of books.

Being in ketosis is like being pregnant, either you are or you aren't. Higher levels of ketosis mean nothing except you might be dehydrated. You should shot for any level that turns your stick pink.

I have noticed in the past on Atkins, when I am having a hungry spell it is because I am getting ready to have a Whoosh on the scale!
-
Make sure you set your food diary to reflect your low carb eating. I do Atkins and my numbers are set to: 5% carbs, 25% protein, 70% healthy fats. If you watch your carb percentage (about 20 grams a day NET carbs) the other numbers will fall into place. DO NOT try to eat low fat! It will make you sick on a low carb diet.…

Atkins plan here with intermittent fasting. I am trying to follow my hunger signals and not the clock.

You don't even look like the same woman! Congratulations and keep on shrinking!
-
Yep. As soon as you start to feel like crap from eating it, you will finally understand why eating LC and healthy is better then any ol' bowl of cereal!
-
I have noticed that you are keeping your carbs well below 50 a day! :flowerforyou: That's a good little Atkins gal!
-
If you go to my home>goals>set goals>custom you can set the food diary to reflect an Atkins ratio! Atkins is based on 5% carbohydrate, 25% protein and 70% healthy fats. If you have your numbers set in this manor you will soon see that the numbers will fall into place without you having to obsess about grams.

Buy your own protein powder (whey protein or egg) added to coffee or half cream and half water and mix ! You don't have to worry about junk ingredients! I love the creamy chocolate! I of course add it to my coffee when I need a "snack" and make a great mocha! I could add ice and rrrrrrrrrrr it in the blender for my own…

I have over 100 lbs to lose and was told by my physician to keep my numbers at this: 5% carbs 25% protein 70% healthy fats It has really curbed my cravings and upped my energy levels! I have gone from sleeping 9 hrs a night to falling into a deep sleep quickly and jumping out of bed after 7 hrs! I love this life style!

Just for those of us who are Low Carbers, there is a way to customize your food diary to reflect your lifestyle eating and track it more accurately. Go to my home>goals>change goals>custom and reset the micro nutrients to reflect your personal goals. I do Atkins so these are my personal goals: Carbs:5% Fats:70% Protein:25%…

It is so hard for us to listen to our bodies when we have been conditioned to eating around the clock! Now is the time to listen to your body! If you are hungry, eat! You are now at the place in your regime you know what your go to foods should be. Make a 5 lbs bag of chicken wings up and keep them in the frig! Cook up…

I would think the difference is in carb counts. Ground almond flour is higher in carbs-fiber then flax meal.
-
Yes you can have these in induction the carbs-fiber for flax is zero! So you only have to count the other ingredients which are mostly induction friendly. I would skip the chocolate or other varieties until week 3!

All they need to do is educate themselves about PCOS/D. The number one treatment is to lower your carbohydrates! Duh.

My sister is a kidney recipient...(froma live donor/family member) over 25 yrs post-op. Her nephrologist (kidney doctor) placed her on a low carb diet to help her not gain weight from her steroids she has to take every day. Being overweight is the cause of kidney failure, which is actually caused by high blood pressure,…

I started to tell people that I have food allergies. Sugar makes be break out in fat.

Since you are doing such high intensity exercise, you might want to take your measurements to gauge your progress. It is a much more accurate way to track your body then a scale which can only tell you the combined weight of your total body make up = bone, water, muscle and fat plus all your internal organs! The tape…

If you are feeling sluggish, it could be you need to add some sodium! Since LC is a natural diuretic you lose a lot of water the first week and can be sodium/potassium depleted very quickly. Drink some salty bullion broth! It will do wonders for your energy levels!
-
You are right.
-
Your curious way of asking a question was a bit "nasty" or condescending in tone. That is why I reacted the way I did.
-
Well said.

I am a low carb lifestyler (making it back on track) who isn't interested in calories as a marker. I am on this site because I don't want to do it alone. I need encouragement and a "high five" every once in a while. We are all on different journeys and arrive here on MFP for a variety of reasons. Why be such a putz?

I watched a show about Weird Eating Habits....A woman was only eating candy 24/7 for years and years and years. Her family was concerned for her health and convinced her to go see her doctor who in turn sent her for tests for chemistry/ blood levels. She had the "appearance" of healthy from an external view. But her…
