  • I would definitely call the doctor about that. But to me (and my non-med school trained mind) it sounds like an allergic reaction to something you're putting on there.
  • I have to admit that I was actually afraid to look at this discussion thread for fear of what it might do to my mental state. Anyway, here are my stats: Height: 5'9" Pre-pregnancy: 150 Delivery at 41 weeks: 195 Two-weeks PP: 175 Now my son is 7 months old. I am EBFing, trying to lose weight by watching what I eat and…
  • I wonder if it could be the early teething. I think I mentioned I know a woman whose 9 month old son still wakes up every 2-3 hours each night. He's formula fed, and a bog boy, so I'm sure he's getting enough calories. Anyway, he was an early teether. I think at 2 months. Just an idea. Gideon still doesn't have any teeth…
  • Wow! I absolutely do not have this issue. I could easily eat 3000 calories a day, but have been "watching it" at around 2000 net. Feel free to look at my diary for ideas. I may not be an expert on losing the weight, but I seem to be quite good at eating enough! :-)
  • ^^This. Edited to add: But I do often time it. I try not to go in before 5. Never let it go longer than 10.
  • I feel like Mother's Milk tea has been helping me (I too felt like my supply was diminishing, but at around 7 months for me). I drink two cups a day. One first thing in the morning, and then one in the evening. I pump first thing in the morning, and just started pumping in the evening. I hate pumping, but I do think it…
  • This is pretty awesome! I have to say the judgment (no matter which choice you make as far as feeding goes) is so crazy to me. Before my son was born, I was pretty sure that I wanted to breastfeed, but stop at 6 months. Whenever I told some people that, they would look at me as if I was a monster (already having made the…
  • My strong feeling is that if you are committed to EBFing, you shouldn't FF at night. Like you said, it will screw up your supply. My son, who had been getting some formula for the first six weeks of his life (not my choice), switched over to EBF at 6 weeks (my choice), and started sleeping 7-9 hour stretches through the…
  • Just got mine right around the 7 month mark. I was hoping for longer! Good news is it was super light and half the length of a regular one. Was gone in less than 3 days.
  • Hi. I just joined a gym with childcare and that is the only way I could get exercise in. My husband is often gone from 8-8 (or longer), and we don't have family in the city. Short of paying a babysitter $15 an hour (the going rate here), there is no way I could get off to the gym. Also, my son doesn't have any set…
  • I do the same with my dog, who also weighs 65 pounds. I also take him to the dog park and let all the dogs come up and lick his little fingers and toes. I am the only person I have ever seen at the dog park with a baby. Some of my mom friends with dogs have said, "Oh, I would never do that." Whatever. I think it is smart…
  • Lol. Lol. Lol. My husband has a beard too. Although he has had it for the past 20 years. I like it. (It's funny, I had never dated a guy with a beard, but had a dream I would marry one...so bizarre...so when I first met him, I was like, hmmm...) But, anyway, I would really like to see what he looks like without one. No…
  • My son is 7 months today and I have fed him a total of 5 solids. Why? Because breast-feeding is just easier. My husband (sort of) jokes that I'm going to be EBF until Gideon is 3. I'm not, but oh-my-god I need to get off my lazy butt and make my baby some food (he has rejected stuff in a jar).
  • We had our big breakthrough at 3 months when we were on vacation. We were outside at the beach. Gideon was on a chair, and I propped him up on a rolled up towel. I'm not sure if it was the total change in location, the towel giving him a big boost in vision, or just that he had finally reached a point where he was ready to…
  • Because of my health issues, in the beginning, we had a baby nurse, who insisted that G be on a schedule (of pumped milk and formula). He slept 3-4 hour blocks but never longer. Once I got him back to EBFing (around 6 weeks), I noticed he would cluster feed in the evening (6-8pm), but then sleep until about 3 or 4 AM (so,…
  • I had to EP for a while and absolutely hated it. I decided that if I couldn't just breastfeed, I would probably go to formula. As it happens, I got lucky and managed to get Gideon to nurse. Now I just pump once a day to build a small freezer stash for when I'm away from him long enough that he needs to be fed by someone…
  • Hahahaha! No, just kidding (sort of). My son is 6 months and I am only now just finding the time as he gets on a regular nap schedule. I make things in the slow cooker, so I can put it all in there when he takes his AM nap. Then we have dinner for that night and leftovers for lunch or other dinners. I also just joined a…

  • My son is only 6 months, and still pretty much EBF (we only started introducing solids last week), but I just wanted to chime in to say that I am not losing weight either (despite watching calories/exercising). I do notice that my clothes fit better and people ask me if I've lost weight, so I'm trying to be chipper about…
  • Also, according to my experience, you will definitely know when your milk comes in. I was insanely engorged. My husband was like, "WHOA!" I think it might have been a bit painful too, but it was competing with other pains at that point (nipple soreness and C-section stuff), so I can't really remember exactly what it felt…
  • When all was said and done (2 weeks after milk came in), I actually went down a bra size. But I had increased a lot during pregnancy. Pre-pregnancy, I was a 34D. After the first trimester, I was a 38DDD. And two weeks after delivering, when I got measured for a bra, I was a 36DD. I was super-duper happy, as I was afraid I…
  • I can't stand Guiness (which makes my husband sad, he loves it, but, hey, more for him!), but I find that drinking any beer (I drink Stella) does boost my supply. They say it relaxes you and helps with the let down.
  • My son's pediatrician said 1-2 glasses of wine each day was fine. I don't drink that much, usually. Maybe 1-2 days out of the week. Also, even though the doctor said it's fine to have those drinks whenever, I usually wait until my son is down for the night, so I am 100% sure it's out of my system before the next time he…
  • This pretty much summarizes why I stay at home. I think that, eventually, when my child(ren) are in school, I will want to go back to work, but for now, I want to be at home for all of his milestones. Right now, I have a babysitter come one day a week, just so I can go out, run errands, etc. And, honestly, I feel so…
  • I didn't even know you could do this. My doctor prescribed Zantac for my son's reflux. It worked (although I was really unhappy about giving him medicine so young). He has been off of it for a month though, as, at a certain point, their systems become more mature and the problems go away. Anyway, I would try the…
  • Wow! I would be so hungry. Hangry. I usually net 1900-2200, and when I eat below that I. AM. NOT. WELL. But I'm also not really losing weight either, so there's that!!
  • You will totally lose the weight and wear adorable dresses again! Give yourself a bit of time, and don't stress too much about it. Easier said than done, I know. I still have my moments (like today when I noticed back fat squishing out of the Baby Bjorn) where I'm like, damn, I miss my svelte body. But I know I will…
  • Oh my God, thank you for writing this! It's so true.
  • Yay! Awesome advice. I second the recommendation to buy clothes that fit. I have to admit that while it bothered me to buy clothes that weren't the size I was "supposed to be (dammit!)", it is nice to open my closet and have cute clothes that fit. Right now Target has a lot of cute and inexpensive pieces that are stretchy…
  • Right there with you, ladies! I think breastfeeding, which my ob says is like a mini-menapause, is partially to blame. Oh well. I'm not stopping any time soon. In the meantime, I will give you some advice a friend of mine gave me--use KY Jelly--lots and lots of KY Jelly. Sorry if that's TMI, but it seriously does help. Oh,…
