Just wanted to thank everyone for the great ideas!!
-
^^How did you make it?
-
HURRAY!! Go you. So awesome.
-
Edited to add: feel free to look at my diary for ideas, since I seem to have no problem eating enough. Ha!
-
Sincere curiosity: why? I am always over on protein, by a lot.

Does your husband cook or grocery shop? I ask because my husband does neither (which is fine by me!) Anyway, like your husband, mine is not exactly on the Paleo bandwagon, but since he doesn't cook or shop, he pretty much eats what I eat, which is Paleo/Primal. Even though he still mocks me a bit for the lifestyle (to…

^^Which sleep mask do you use? I have one from when I delivered in the hospital. It helps a little when going to sleep, but it seems to fall off in the middle of the night. Another one I bought was totally uncomfortable. Any brand you recommend? Also, thank you everyone for all the suggestions! I am seriously going to try…

Thanks, Clutch! I actually tried using a homemade coconut milk soap & shampoo today. We'll see how it goes tonight. Anyone else have a suggestion? Am I the only one who struggles with sleep or do most just kind of suck it up and deal with sleep deprivation? Edited to add that in the meantime, I'm weaning myself down on the…

It was a hybrid of this: http://popularpaleo.com/2013/12/17/twice-baked-cheeseburger-spaghetti-squash/ And this: http://paleomg.com/almost-5-ingredient-pizza-spaghetti-pie/ I used all the ingredients in the first one. What I changed is that I used beef ground with bacon. I used two eggs and about 3 oz of cheddar cheese to…

Hi! I eased into it super S-L-O-W-L-Y (like, I would say a month before my diary started looking really clean), so I didn't feel very deprived of stuff and didn't feel a great need to eat all the food. Ha! Anyway, I just did a super strict, almost Whole 30, but not quite because I ate bacon, cream, and butter. Anyway, I…

1450 doesn't sound like a lot to me. 1200 is the minimum requirement for any adult. anything below 1200 your body starts going into starvation mode.
-
Oh my God, I almost had a heart attack when I read you are BFing and only eating 1200. How have you survived 6 months? (I'm only partially joking.) I can't see all your stats, but I'll tell you that when my son was 6 months, I'm sure I ate at least 2500 calories. I didn't lose a pound. I didn't gain a pound either. In…

100% agree. I used to live on everything artificially sweetened. I actually ended up going cold turkey off it when a fertility doc told me it may be keeping me from getting/staying pregnant. One month later (with no medical interventions) I was pregnant. I'm not 100% sure that was the reason (giving up artificial…

My goal is 60% fat - 20% protein - 20% carb. After struggling for a year to lose the baby weight and not losing a darn pound, I ended up losing 15 pounds in 3 months going very gradually into Paleo/Primal eating. I have a little less than 10 pounds to lose now to get back to pre-pregnancy. Of course, I think what is even…

The only thing that really jumped out at me was the flavored milk and the creamer you're using. It's hard to believe one thing (well, two, technically) could have such a big impact on how you're feeling, but I bet the back label is a ****storm of chemicals. Could you try replacing the flavored creamer with heavy cream or…

Well, you look cute in your photo, and that's what counts! Ha! I'm 5'9 and always had a goal weight of 135, but never got lower than 142 (and I felt like I was starving myself to be there)--150 was my happy weight. That was before getting pregnant. Now my goal is 150, and I'll re-evaluate when I get there. Anyway, I feel…

If you open your diary, we could give you more specific suggestions (I just said this on another thread, so now I feel like a nosey MFP'er, ha!). But from my own experience, I found eating things like a banana with almond butter or a sweet potato with grassfed butter really helped me avoid that detoxing feeling. Frozen…

I agree that 3 pounds a month seems like a sustainable loss. I also think, like you, that you probably could be losing more if you're eating strictly primal and have a significant amount to lose. (I might be shooting for 4-6 pounds a month if I were you.) I went to look at your diary to see if anything stuck out to me, but…

I agree. Just do YOUR Whole 30. The Hartwigs aren't gonna bust in your house and arrest you for taking medication with trace amounts of corn in it! :-)
-
We just made this the other day. I used unsalted grass fed butter and virgin coconut oil. The idea above about adding cream and unsweetened cocoa sounds like a heavenly treat! I may have to try it. PS: We blended it. I think blending is a must otherwise the oil just floats around in your coffee in pools that look gross.

Another thing (to add to what everyone is saying), and this is kind of my mantra right now: Don't let perfection get in the way of progress. If you have events that you imagine deviating from plan on, maybe, right now, you could give yourself permission to do so, but just be on plan the rest of the time. The way this works…

So far so good. I've noticed a lot of my strong cravings have lessened. The strongest craving has been for a margarita, lol. As we ease away from Cinco de Mayo, I'm sure that will pass.

This is the other reason I can't go "Whole" 30, but, like, 95% 30. Haha. I am doing a 6 month DietBet (on month 2 now), and I have to weigh myself for the game. I've actually told myself I'm going to do Whole 30 (100%) when the DietBet is over in September. Hopefully by that point I will have figured out where to buy…
-
Yeah, looking over your diary, I wouldn't really call it "Primal." Please understand, I'm not criticizing at all. I am totally taking the slow and steady approach myself (months easing into it). So there is nothing wrong with it at all. I would just say it's probably more likely the sugar and the grains than the "Primal"…
-
I'm also doing the Whole 30 with the following exceptions: butter, heavy cream, bacon. I'm also allowing myself the possibility of drink/dessert for my hubby's b-day. If you're ok with those breaks from the Hartwig's, I'm in!
-
I agree with just about all the advice given, so I won't repeat it, except for this: 1400 calories seems REALLY low to me. If I were eating there, I'd be hungry all the time too.

I love cauliflower rice! I was really intimidated to make it at first, but it was easy. You can google around for different takes on it, but this is the one I use: http://relishscd.blogspot.com/2013/05/how-to-rice-cauliflower-in-vitamix.html After the cauliflower reaches rice consistency, I get out my wok, put in some ghee…

Also, just wanted to share this recipe for Paleo General Tso's, which seems like it would be easy to freeze and very tasty on some cauliflower rice. To be Whole 30 compliant, I'll probably sub in some pineapple in place of the molasses. Will also probably leave the sunbutter out and add in a bunch of veggies.…

^^^That sounds great. Will definitely try with the beer after my Whole 30. I also wanted to share this beef stroganoff recipe: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/beef-stroganoff/#axzz2zdBw0yOO I have made this several times as is, but made it whole 30 compliant today by using a can of full fat coconut milk instead of heavy…

http://www.tastesoflizzyt.com/2013/08/02/healthy-homemade-spaghetti-sauce/ Just wanted to share that I made this yesterday. I doubled the beef. Didn't add water or lemon. I also doubled the garlic and the red pepper. It made 10 1-cup servings of a very meaty sauce. Yum! And I think it will freeze well.
