What an inspirational thread! I don't have photos but I'm 5ft 4.5 and started at 210lbs last year. Am now 146lbs. My goal is 145lbs but may shift that to 140lbs. Am very happy with the way I look now but just want to shift some flab on the tummy (I blame my 4 yo daughter!). Lost the weight primarily through eating at…

Monday - Weights (mix of machines & free weights - goal is to lift heavy) 45 mins & 45 min walk Tuesday - Cardio (running on treadmill & stepper) 45 mins Wednesday - As Tuesday Thursday - As Tuesday Friday - As Monday Weekend - Rest but as we go out we tend to walk loads
-
I think daily cardio is fine but if you're doing weights heavy enough to make your muscles sore each time then you need to insert rest days between your weights sessions.

Hi. This board is very quiet. You may get more responses in the Intermittent Fasting board/group. Lots of people doing 16:8 (aka 8 hour window) there :-)
-
Absolutely! I lost the bulk of the weight on my ticker without doing exercise. I did 10-15% cut of my TDEE.

I can only eat more intuitively now I'm close to goal. It's taken me a year (on and off) of logging every mouthful on MFP to learn what a healthy, normal portion should be. I don't need to log anymore. I eat more "intuitively" and am still losing. But I couldn't do this when I was overweight.

This thread is incredibly inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm too shy to post mine but if I can manage to blur my face out I'll have a try.

Some great stories on this thread. I'm 43 this year, work and have a 4 yo dauger who keeps me fit :-) I've lost most lf my excess weight since Iast year and to be honest have not found it difficult at all. I just keep chugging away - sometimes I gain, sometimes I stall, sometImes I lose, but I keep on getting back in the…

As soon as MFP told me I'd need to eat 1200 cals to lose weight, I burst into tears and knew I'd not succeed for long. It was simply too little food for me and I didn't want my body to get used to eating so little. So I Googled TDEE calculators, worked mine out and ate at 10-15% cut of it. 1800-2000 cals a day. Boom! I…

I tend to eat all my temptations  but just account for them in my daily/weekly calories. I also try and fill up on the healthy stuff first when I get the munchies but if I still am "hungry" for ice cream then I eat it and modify my eating another day.
-
Kiwidrop, no judgement from me, just my stats and how I'm doing it. Been doing 5:2 for 6 weeks, have lost 9 lbs. Am eating 500 cals in a single sitting (dinner) Mondays & Thursdays Am eating to TDEE (around 2200 cals) all non-fast days (though tend to go over on weekends and a bit under on weekdays) Am trying to eat withn…

I don't do alot of strength at the moment but like you I want to increase it. My plan is to run/speed walk to the gym (which is about 30 min run/walk away) then do my weights workout then run/walk back 3-4 times a week. I agree that you don't need to exercise to lose weight. I lost loads of weight just focussing on food,…

I'm a night eater too. I plan for eating more calories at night (eating less during the day) and it works out fine. No guilt. Another thing that might work for you is intermittent fasting - there are lots of different types, but 16:8 fasting requires you to eat only within an 8 hour window. I often do this and my eating…

Fantastic!

ahockenbrouch do you have a link to this article. Would love to read it.

Me. I must admit I've never "undereaten" so when MFP put me on 1200 cals I saw red. I worked out my TDEE and ate at 10-15% cut of that - around 1800-2200 cals on average, often more - and lost weight (see my ticker) even when MFP told me daily I'd put weight ON with the amount I was eating LOL.
-
Increase your calories but very slowly - say 100 cals more for two weeks, then another 100 cals for another two (or more) weeks.... This may be a less scary leap up to eating more :-) Best of luck.
-
Yes, most defnitely in my case. See my ticker - majority of that lost by eating 1800-2200 cals a day, often much more. I averaged 10-15% TDEE cut to get those results in 12 months but a large chunk of that time I ate way more due to forgetting to log/monitor/life events. Go for it, it works!
-
Yes, I've lost the bulk of my weight (see ticker) on EMTWL. But I never had to do a reset because I'd never undereaten so my metabolism was in fine shape. So I lost immediately doing 10-15% cut of TDEE (with long periods at and just over TDEE when I couldn't be bothered to log and monitor calories). Never less than 1800 to…

By the way, I agree that cardio can eat into muscle as well as fat (from what I've read) which is another reason I want to focus on weights soon. I currently do cardio (since January) as I am learning to run but that's purely for endurance and fun rather than weight loss (the bulk of which occurred without exercise).
-
Well, I've lost all the weight on my ticker without lifting a single weight but by simply EMTWL. But my plan when I get to goal is to start a weights program purely because I would like to be stronger than I am, to develop a toned physique and also because I know that muscle burns more calories than fat. This is my plan…

Hello, I'm in London, feel free to add me (and anyone else on this thread). You can see how much I've lost in 12 months on EMTWL. I'm on a slightly different path now - I am doing 5:2 fasting for the health benefits - but I am eating 100% of my TDEE 5 days out of 7. Have lost a further 6 lbs in the last 3 weeks.

Hi Double :-)

Well done on the loss. But next time please consider how your post might come across, especially if it's marketed as a "tips" post.

You need to eat more. Eat back all your exercise calories or work out your TDEE (which will include strenuous exercise if you tick the option) then eat at a % cut of that. I think your body is holding onto lbs as it thinks you're not feeding it enough (and never will). TDEE calculator here:…

145lbs. But I'm 42, have a medium frame, am curvacious, don't want to look skinny and gaunt so I will start assessing via the mirror once I get to 150lbs.

Well done!

Hello. I thought I'd join, even though I've been EMTWL since February last year. You can see from my ticker how much I've lost eating at TDEE -10 to 15%. Though 5 lbs of that is due to fasting twice a week which I've been doing the past fortnight for health benefits. I now have to eat bang on TDEE five days a week as a…
-
I have a similar problem - made worse because I fast twice a week (for health) so have to eat my TDEE the rest of the time (currently 2240 cals as I exercise alot). What I find helps is making sure everything I eat is full fat, snacking on unsalted mixed nuts (just 50g can boost my cals by 200+ cals), not scrimping on…

When you increased your calories did you determine the maximum calorie intake using a TDEE calculator? If you did then the calculator would have accounted for your exercise level. You should definitely be eating much more than BMR daily. My BMR is 1600 and my daily calories are 2000 which includes moderate exercise daily…
