Congratulations and welcome!

I'm impressed and just a tiny bit jealous. That is just 100% awesome.

1. I'm assuming that your concern is with trans fat from partially hydrogenated oils. Skippy and other major brands don't have any. Hydrogenated vegetable oil isn't the same as partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, which does have trans fat. 2. I don't know what you mean by "healthier." Some peanut butters have tiny…

What do you think you might get out of it or want to get out of it that you're not now? Serious question. I think maybe that's the way to figure out if its worth the extra money, since you're already logging your food.

Do they put a boat-load of sweetened condensed milk in the cafe con leche? Cuz if not, it doesn't count. :)

You can look at the sodium content of each ingredient to find out where its coming from. Eggs have some sodium naturally, and so does almond milk (not sure its added or comes from the other ingredients in the almond milk).

If its saying that you'll lose a pound over the next five weeks, that is based only on the amount of calories eaten and the estimate of how many you burned based on your height, weight, age, and activity. It doesn't matter if the calories came from protein or something else. Keep in mind that its just a little piece of…

If you have the flu, though, I hope you don't worry too much about it, and try to just get enough food and liquids to fuel your recovery. Worry about it again when you are better!

May all of your problems be on a similar scale :) Do they have Walmart where you are? Cheap staples are pretty much what they do.

If you haven't tried it, the I highly recommend a taste of pasture-fed butter. It will rock your buttery world. Not just grass-fed, mind you, which could be from cows eating hay in the barn in the winter, but pasture-fed, which can only be gotten in warm months in most climates. I don't normally "do" organic or any other…

whole wheat pita chips are dirty food?

Plenty of people stick to 1200 plus exercise calories. Plenty of people eat more. The NIH recommends at least 1000 for women, and 1200 is a number that appeared up in a popular diet book in the 1920's, and just kind of stuck in the popular mind. MFP calculates the allowance based on the height, weight, activity and weight…

But your enthusiasm for breakfast is very sweet :)

yes, the recipe builder is very useful for that. add all of the ingredients to the recipe builder, divide by the number of servings. I usually try to weigh my cooking pots/pans before I use them and then weigh the same vessel with its contents when I'm done (with a hot pad on the scale, usually).

Well, the good-ish news is that being on your feet all day does burn more calories than sitting on your butt! :) Yes, you can absolutely lose weight without exercise. It might be easier to keep track of your intake if you weigh and log all the food, but people do do it without. How much and how quickly really depends alot…

The only one that I know of that stores data is the the Garmin one for swimming (only syncs with 2 or 3 Garmin watches). But the Polar H7 device runs on Bluetooth and can sync to a device or phone up to about 30 feet away or so (theoretically, and assuming nothing is blocking the signal). Not sure if it can connect to the…

I'm going to guess that you have a fitbit synced with your MFP account, and that the combination gave you a higher number early in the day based on the burn recorded by your fitbit at the time of the earlier syncing. MFP logic takes the hourly burn recorded by fitbit and then makes a "guess" at what the total burn will be…

Polar devices only sync with Strava. Its possible to sync your Polar with Strava, and then sync Strava with MFP, but when I tried it I found that all the entries came across as cycling, and with different calorie amounts than indicated by the Polar device. I didn't like that, so I just kept entering things manually into…

16 inches shoveled in 90 minutes. I'm guessing another 8 to 12 to shovel tomorrow. Strength plus cardio, done.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Food Babe.

hmm. I thought you might know someone who has an automatic machine at home. Maybe somebody older than you. I have one. But anyway, I'd also say if it doesn't clear up, bring it up again with your doctor, and ask her if she could recommend a specialist if she has no other suggestions. It definitely isn't normal, but…
-
My first thought also was blood pressure. 1. Have you told your doctor about this? Did he or she have any feedback? 2. Do you have any way to take your blood pressure before and after working out? 3. How much cardio are you doing, anyway?

I usually lose about a pound after a night of moderate drinking. It dehydrates me.

Stubborn is a real asset in this game :) You're 6 years older than me. You're 2 years younger than my boyfriend. We're not old. We're well-seasoned. Its a good thing.

Short answer: No, the rules do not change. You burn fewer calories as you lose muscle mass. Most people lose muscle mass as they age purely as the result of not using their muscles much over decades. Even people who are very active in their teens and 20's often get less active as they get older. But gain muscle mass, and…

1. Don't overthink things. For weight loss, all you need to do is eat fewer calories than you burn. There is no magic formula of carbs/fats/protein that best supports weight loss, but the ratios that MFP gives you as a baseline will support overall health. Don't worry about being perfect at hitting each number every day.…

hey, me too! and my macaroni salad.

You can totally switch to Coke zero and cut out a TON of calories! No, there is nothing wrong with the sweetener and it won't stop you from losing weight. I'd be more concerned about the amount of caffeine, myself. I also used to drink a couple of liters of diet Coke every day. I can't take the caffeine anymore; it makes…

what did they do to the old recipe?

One good way to tell if something is probably false is if it makes you feel afraid to consume something that is very common, has been eaten by millions of people over many years, and is still on the market. If you think that is happening, then question the reliability of the source, and go read some things in the places…
