  • Wow, what a transformation. You look so healthy now. Like you've been that way your whole life. Your doctors must be amazed. Your story is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
  • I had never seen these before this post. I made them tonight and they were terrific. I made a few changes. I used pastrami for the meat. I also added 2 individual packets of Philadelphia cream cheese to the mix when the meat was added. It adds calories but if you can spare them try it out. Also if you don't have time to…
  • I'm also a long time binger. Since being on MFP it's been fairly well controlled. Here are the 2 things that helped me the most. First, log it...all of it...100% accurately. Face the demons head on. Set your diary to private if it keeps you honest. Skipping this step you are only cheating yourself. Doing this allowed me to…
  • Welcome :) What physical results are you looking for? I'm unsure after reading your first post.
  • Not sure what I can add that hasn't been said. I just want to offer you some encouragement in what is obviously a time of turmoil and stress. Just keep reminding yourself "this too shall pass". Personally I wouldn't worry so much about hitting a calorie goal right now. But focus on something small that sets you up for…
  • So true! I'm just the exact opposite :) I've lost 20 lbs and still wear a size 12 which are unflatteringly baggy in the butt/legs and tight in the stomach. Looking forward to the day a pair of pants fits properly.
  • I'm 5'4" and hit my first 20 lbs loss this morning (178>158). It feels great and my clothes are definitely better. But I wouldn't say there is the huge difference others have noticed. I'm apple shaped and have a large muffin top/paunch. Because of that clothes are still hard to fit (tight in the stomach and baggy in the…
  • I'm 5'4", 160lbs and MFP gives me 1250 cals/day (deficit of 730). I have it set at light activity and 1.5 lbs a week loss. I've been losing 2-3 lbs/week so I'll probably change my activity to "active". I was being pretty conservative when I chose "light".
  • I've had Mirena put in after both my kids. I had side effects both times including pain with intercourse, rubbing nerves and difficulty losing weight. There was an ultrasound after it was put in to make sure it was properly placed. The end of last year I weighed 178 lbs and started working with a personal trainer 2x-3X a…
  • Costco is a dangerous place if you like convenience food. I only go there when I'm in a frugal mood on a full stomach. If you like deviled eggs have you tried making an egg salad sandwich (same ingredients just chopped up)? There are a few changes you could make to really reduce calories. Using low cal mayo or plain greek…
  • If you have a Costco membership they sell their rotisserie chickens broken down. Lightly shredded breasts or legs/thighs. It very moist and tasty so I'm guessing it probably has a lot of salt, if that's a concern. When I buy it I break it down within a few days into family sized serving (single size in your case) and…
  • My dad does this sort of. When I get to maintenance I hope to use his advice. "When your pants start getting tight it's time to lose weight."
  • Of all the things you've mentioned this and meal planning can be the biggest pitfalls. I deal with these issues as well. A husband who says he's not picky but really is, and 2 and 3 year olds who won't try new things. It quickly becomes almost impossible cooking for this many people. Here's what I've done to make it easier…
  • I get headaches when I'm dehydrated. I would start there while you search for a second opinion. But I also must mention carbon monoxide poisoning causes headaches. If you don't have a CO tester please get one. Hope you feel better soon.
  • Another shorty here :) I'm 5'4" and currently 164. My goal is to be an honest size 5 with my BMI around 20%. I'm pushing to be 130 lbs by my oldest child's 4th birthday in early September. I'll then see how I'll feel at 130. And maybe go for 120 as an I'm-too-sexy-for-my-shirt ultimate goal. Loved reading everyone stats…
  • I wish I could give you a big hug. This was quite a wake up call you had. But we've all been there. Personally I have a CD of pictures from a wedding I attended last August that I've never been able to open. I just know I looked horrible and was the heaviest I've been since having kids. That was one of my wake up calls.…
  • This is some wonderful advice and I hope you take it to heart. Whenever my kids start demanding anything I simply stop buying it. So far I've done this with two foods. You have a rough road ahead of you. Food issues are difficult at best, even for adults. But hang in there. Your son's health is worth it.
  • I have this cringe worth quandary too. When I measure hips I go under the belly. But you should measure your waist at the navel (widest part). I'm 5/4" and when I measured on 5/4 I was 167 and 37.5, 40, 36.6. At my heaviest (non pregnant) I was in the 190's. Unfortunately I've heard the belly fat is the last to go. That's…
  • Wow. You probably look amazing and these people are just jealous. As far as advice I would recommend taking up a hobby or pursuing a passion of yours. Something you really enjoy. That would bolster your self confidence and help any future petty comments from "sticking". You're made of tough stuff to have come this far.…
  • I'm the same height and been at similar weights. Currently 167 but was stuck at 178 for a looong time. My heaviest was in the 190's. I've had a few false starts and weight fluctuation over the years but this is IT. My wake up call came during a desperate attempt at the master cleanse. It made me extremely ill but cause a…
  • I'm a SAHM with 2 small kids, work out 5 days a week, and live on a small farm. I count myself as "moderately active" and don't log any extras besides workouts. I would say lightly or moderately active if you work out. Sedentary is someone with a desk job 8-10 hours a day.
  • I'm new to this but it sounds like your body is in survival mode...big time. The importance of eating enough calories is covered in this link and includes why the "last 10" are the hardest to lose. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10589-for-those-confused-or-questioning-eating-your-exercise-calo Hope you can get…
  • You look fantastic. I've just started my journey to health and happiness and find this so inspiring.
  • I added you. My youngest will be 2 June 1st, oldest is 3 :/ I returned to my pre baby weight (160's) pretty quickly but that's still 30lbs overweight. It's taken me this long to have enough energy left over to take care of myself. Which is exactly what I plan on using MFP to do.
  • Hello. I just "re"joined today as well. I've been going at it alone but need that extra push accountability provides. Would like to start Couch 2 5k (C25K) when weather permits. Weaknesses: Never meet a pastry, cake or cookie I didn't like. Lack of free time. Strengths: I'm very strong despite being overweight.
  • I've just tried to add everyone ahead of me on this thread. If I missed you it was an oversight. Looks like I originally signed up for MFP in 2012 and haven't used it since, yikes. I'm committed to getting myself healthy this year. I'm 5'4" and 167. Over the last 2 months I've lost 10 lbs on own. I aim to keep this…
