I don't know if you are lacto ovo, but I get a lot of protein from Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, and cheese. Beans and lentils are a staple for me. I prefer tempeh to tofu, but they are both good protein sources. Protein powders can be incorporated into smoothies, muffins, bars, pancakes, and a lot of other recipes.…

I agree that thrift stores are a good option but also look at the Ross/Marshall's/TJ Maxx type discount stores. I currently have no trousers that fit because I am very picky about good work clothes that I want to spend a lot of money on so I am going to Ross and Marshall's to get something that will work in the meantime.…

1. Find a form of exercise you actually enjoy. I suggest trying weight lifting. 2. Download podcasts or audiobooks in which you are interested. 3. It's only 30 minutes.

I've been a bridesmaid four times when I was a little heavier and weight was never mentioned. But the brides were my sister and very close college friends. One of the brides later told me that if one of our friends had been as big as she is now (50 lb heavier) she wouldn't have had her in the wedding. I think it had more…

Have you tried half & half for the cream? Honestly I wouldn't mess with it too much, just have less of it.

We stocked up on some for a bachelorette party to help with hangovers. I think I managed to drink half a can before passing it off. Terrible. I've had fresh coconut water which is delicious, so this was extra nasty by comparison. Never again.

I cook most meals (I don't buy packaged meals and go out 2-3 times a week) and my diary is open. It's a bit boring at times, a lot of beans, vegetables and rice.

Let them know that's not what you need from your friends list. Some people do want their friends to call them out on any little slip in their food or exercise program. If you're not compatible, DELETED!

I will definitely check out the food on other tables at restaurants so I can see what looks good. I want that one! I don't check other carts when grocery shopping. I know that my grocery purchases may seem like a strange combination and I don't know or much care about other people's grocery stories. I get most of my…

My diary is not exactly awesome, but it is open for perusal. This weekend was a bit rocky but Monday and Friday were pretty good. Average 1800 calories, 50 g fat, 90 g protein, 35 g fiber

Stir fried vegetables and tempeh/ tofu with brown rice/ soba noodles Homemade pizza (WW crust + olive oil/ garlic + a few veggies + meat or anchovies + good cheese) Roasted sweet potato chunks with lentils and sautéed greens topped with a fried egg Baked sweet potato topped with chili Frittata with vegetables, cheese, and…

I used to keep a big jar of almonds in my desk at work and would just grab them by the handful throughout the day. I'm sure there were days that I ate 600 calories worth of nuts. I have to portion control now. I weigh out 100 calorie servings and put in little plastic containers or bags to take to work. I do the same with…

I make my own. Just shell some freshly roasted peanuts and add a bit of salt or honey as desired. I don't have a Vitamix (one of these days!) so my food processor works just fine. It takes about 5 minutes. I haven't branched out to almond or other nuts yet.

Exactly. I use scales for most things just because its easier, but it's the only way to get consistent results.
-
Nuts, dried fruit, wine, wasabi peas. I have to excercise tight portion control of nuts and dried apricots with my food scale and limit wine consumption. I just don't buy wasabi peas in more than a single serving size. I will eat them until I cry. Baguettes are risky, too.

Thanks for posting this and continually bumping. It's been on my mind this week since I keep seeing it on the message board and realizing that it starts tomorrow reminded me to finally sign up. In for learning!

Too long! Probably a couple months because they're not really in season. I can't wait until the fall so I can roast a big pan or fry some up with bacon

I forgot the Wetzels Pretzels a couple weeks ago! Shared a couple bags of pretzels bites with friends, one cinnamon sugar and one garlic butter. Wonderful and terrible at the same time. But no regrets.

It depends what you consider "fast food" to be. I grab a quick lunch around my office about once a week or two. Every few weeks I go out for a burger and fries at a local burger place. I had some fantastic boudin balls and gumbo at a little lunch spot in Louisiana a couple months ago. Order in delivery once or twice a…

I often bank calories to save up for a big dinner or party on the weekend. It actually kind of happens naturally that I eat 50-100 calories under during the week and end up with room for more wine or steak or gelato on Saturday. It's worked fine for me so far, but I haven't done any drastic cuts to bank for later.

I've been getting away with several. I've cut it down a lot but I typically have 3-5 drinks a week. I fit it into my calories and make sure that nutrition from actual food takes priority.
-
I like to load up my salads with all kinds of different things. Spinach is my favorite base but I'll do kale, leaf lettuce, or mixed greens. I'll use whatever fresh veggies I have, garbanzo or other beans, chopped boiled egg, cheese, avocado and some kind of nut or seed. I usually do a simple oil and vinegar dressing. I…

You should actually try to balance potassium with sodium in your diet. I think the preferred ratio is twice as much potassium as sodium. If you just want to counteract a high sodium day or meal you should drink plenty of water, but I'm not sure what quantity "plenty" is.

I bring cottage cheese and a homemade protein bar to work ever day (or a store bar if I've been too lazy to make my own - Luna, Cliff, Lara bars.). Dried apricots, almonds, apples, and bananas are also regular snacks for me. Jerky would also be good, but I don't eat a lot of meat.

My simplest bread recipe is flour, water, salt, yeast, honey and a little bit of oil for greasing the rising bowl. It works out to about 200 calories for 100g. I cut my slices around 40 grams which is only 80 calories, even a thick slice is only 100. I agree that homemade bread is much more satisfying than store bought. I…

Me too. It's the only food I can think of that I flat out do not like.

Great suggestions from wolfman. I get a lot of fiber from lentils and beans. Sweet potatoes, broccoli, greens, avocado, bananas and whole grains all give me a good amount of fiber.

I have been running in the evening recently but will probably switch back to mornings with the summer heat coming on. I typically don't eat anything before a morning run. I only run 2-3 miles so don't need to fuel up. I tend to get hungry early, so if I wake up hungry I will have something small like a few dried apricots…

I make a lot of vegetable-heavy soups and stews and they need a lot of seasoning. I would use at least a whole large onion sautéed with garlic. I would probably use oil for this, but I'll use butter or bacon fat instead if I think it works better. Salt makes food taste better. Unless you have a medical reason, don't be…

Banana bread/muffins Freeze for smoothies. I don't peel them before freezing. If the peel sticks, just run it under water while peeling and the strings should come off pretty easily. Protein bars. Oats, 2 mashed bananas, protein powder, 1 egg, chopped walnuts, chocolate chips, honey, salt, milk as needed. I just started…
