  • I am no expert, but I usually eat back most of my calories on regular workout days, and if I go all out and burn more than a couple hundred, I take advantage and eat BBQ ribs or something. ;) Alternatively, it's always nice to have a big fat green number on your diary at the end of the day, and it really can't hurt your…
  • I picked October 1st as my date because I want to get a Versalette (which is my reward for meeting my goal) before I start my year of travel! =)
  • Ditto that my friend! ;) I really like the Franz San Juan Island bread. I used to use Safeway brand whole wheat bread but it's super dry & crumbly. I love Franz & Open Nature breads.
  • Sounds like you need new friends... it's amazing what a good relationships can do for your confidence! I would like to give your parents a good talking to and probably slap around your friend a little. I hadn't worn shorts since I was a kid until I got married, and I still wear them even though I'm not at my goal weight…
  • And/or use common sense! You really can't go wrong with a well-balanced diet, lots of water, and some activity every day. That has never gone out of style. All extremes should be avoided because unless you are one of those rare individuals whose lives revolve around fitness you will not be able to sustain it.
  • Also a good plan. I like to keep cherries or apples on stock depending on the season. I try to cut up & prepare my fruits and veggies for easy access as soon as I get home from the store so I always have something good to snack on.
  • Some days are worse than others for me, but the first thing you need to do is DO SOMETHING!! =) Don't do something passive (don't read, don't sit at the computer, don't watch tv/movies, don't sit around). Go out and distract yourself. Take a walk! Hang out with friends! Get a hobby that requires all of your attention and…
  • NOO! Speak no such evils! I am an avid letter-writer, postage stamps are wonderful! =) I try to use cash as often as I can. It's simple and it's easy to keep track of (for me, anyway). It's far too easy to overspend with cards or electronic payments, though I use those just as frequently for online bills, purchases, and…
  • Bump! This is good advice!! I'm just starting the C25K and I'm glad I found this thread.
  • Awesome!! That's a good little test to see if you've really met your goal! I have a little goal to be able to touch my toes (just for flexibility's sake) and I can after 6-8 stretches so it doesn't count yet, haha. I guess that works a little bit the same with weight!
  • That's great! I have a similar goal, to get into a healthy BMI. Even if I never meet my weight goal but remain in a healthy BMI I will be happy. =)
  • That's ridiculous... I eat a banana every day! The sugars in fruit are GOOD for you. =P I wish MFP had a way to differentiate between sugars found naturally in fruits vs. white sugars in bread and processed foods... I took off my sugar counter on my diary because besides the 15-20 grams I get from breads, I keep going over…
  • Stone Cap is my ultimate favorite so far! They are a Washington State winery and I've had their Riesling and their Merlot, love 'em both. They are less than $10 at World Market & we always grab a few when we go down there. =)
  • That is SUCH a good idea for eating out!!! I'm doing that from now on... Also, ya'll have inspired me. I'm going to use the upstairs bathroom & do squats from now on! XD
  • Dude, that's nothing. If all I drink is water that's my average. ;) If I have anything else to drink I have to pee every half hour. I would be in great shape if I did that, though my co-workers would think I had lost my mind, haha! TINY BLADDER PEOPLE UNITE!
  • Awesome!! Good job removing yourself from the temptation of Little Debbies, haha XD

  • I believe #2 to be true from personal experience... I really enjoyed my (short) run on the beach and part of it had to do with my state of mind and the spontaneity of it. If I can figure out how to recapture that I'll be golden (maybe I need to move to the coast). ;)
  • It's not too late to start the crock pot! I'm making Doro Wat, an Ethiopian chicken stew, with brown rice & steamed asparagus on the side. =) I can't wait!
  • I was walking laps & running bleacher stairs at the track near my home so I just made the switch to that, plus when my sis in law works out with me we can stay in the same area and keep an eye on each other while doing our own workouts, so it's convenient. So that's why I use the track, but if I really want to get over my…
  • Thanks everyone!! I am encouraged... and looking forward to tomorrow's pain & misery knowing I'm not alone. ;) I do love to walk... and I even enjoy running stairs and running on the beach (I ran 4 minutes straight one day on my vacation, a huge step for me, so I know I can do it). It's just running on the track I hate! XD…
  • I've got one of those! XD http://pinterest.com/catsandscales/healthy-weight-role-models/
  • Butter & olive oil! I even use olive oil to spray down my pans (you can get fancy pump-sprayers from lots of places). Margarine is fake, and fake is always evil when you are trying to make clean & healthy your lifestyle. ;) You can easily make your own fresh butter with a blender or food processor. You can't make margarine…
  • Haha!! My boobs are definitely gonna shrink when I lose my lbs! Luckily my hubs doesn't seem too distraught... ;) Yay curvy buddies!! :)
  • Preach it!! ;)
  • KISSING DAY? Hot dog! I've gotta tell my hubby. He stopped by to say hi about an hour ago, I'm pretty sure we kissed goodbye... but it wasn't memorable, obviously. XD Gotta make up for lost time tonight!
  • I am. I try to eat simple, whole foods whenever I can... Someday I hope to have my own homestead where I can grow my own veggies and raise a few animals as well so I know exactly what I'm eating. ;)
  • I do the same thing unless I have a really big "carrot" to work for. ;) The last time I was able to maintain my healthy weight (150-155) was before my wedding. I walked every day and it was easy to keep it up. This time it was because I tried to make a big hike to the river and just about died coming back... I decided it…
  • I discovered this in the database today too while I was perusing possible exercises to do on vacation... tonight I'm cleaning the house, so I figured why not make it count? ;) You can add it to your cardio the same way as any other activity, just search cleaning. =)
  • I LOVE the calorie counter on MFP. I've never tried counting calories before now and it makes sense and is adaptable to any diet. I use it to budget for the food I love, and it makes it that much easier to turn down the second cookie or a surprise temptation in the form of leftover cake, because I know I get a treat later.…
