I just started going to Spinning classes a few weeks ago, and I really like it! I was nervous because in the past, most of the fitness classes at my gym kicked my *kitten* but I actually did it fine! Spinning is good because it's all about you setting the resistance level on the bike yourself, as opposed to you following…

I LOVE Br-inner!! "Scrubs", anyone?

MFP updates them automatically. :) Honestly, sometimes I'm motivated to work out by food. If I know that I'm going to be out for dinner that evening, I'll push myself extra hard at the gym so keeping the track of the calories later is less painful :P But I do honestly like the feeling of doing something healthy, and how…

You don't put the chest strap over top of the 'ladies' - you fasten it sort of underneath them. Right where the band of your bra sits. In fact, I tend to place my chest strap right underneath my sports bra band, just so it's extra secure and less likely to move about. If you are looking to get a HRM to track calories…

I say log it if you can so you feel accountable to it, but don't stress about it too much. I just logged a dinner at Applebees that brought me almost 1000 calories over my goal and I literally cringed as I did it, but I can't erase it. But I still gotta live (but maybe shouldn't have the cheeseburger next time  )!!

Omg, I would've eaten at least half the bag. I love chips/Doritos so much. I can usually go about 2 weeks without having any, but then I break down and buy a bag and spread it out over the weekend. It's my main downfall, lol, but I try to slot it into my calorie allowance.

If you put it into sealed jars, it will last for years (barring any problems with the seal and air getting into the salsa)! I love my grandma's homemade salsa!

I pretty much only drink water, coffee and tea. I log the coffee because of the creamer, but my tea tends to be herbal and caffeine free so it gets added into my water intake. Anything extra (ie. red wine and beer :drinker: ) gets logged.

My phone definitely does not have internet access on it. I think it might be capable, but I don't pay for that stuff. Texting is good enough for me for now. I do worry that I would be constantly distracted by Facebook. My cell phone in the UK I think can go on the internet as well, and as the rates there for browsing seem…

I had oatmeal - I find it really hard to get excited about breakfast and tend to eat a rotation of three things. I know I should be more into protein and all that stuff for breakfast, but I am very much a cereal/toast/oatmeal person.

Sometimes when I'm being a complete spaz and not paying attention, I can pull my jeans down without undoing the button or the zip. My belly is so much flatter than it used to be. I am still getting used to it and sometimes I find myself running my hand on my abdomen to feel the difference! Aeropostale had a 2 for 1 sale on…

Sometimes I just pick a random thing that shows up in the database if there's no information listed. Pizza tends to be fairly similar, but I don't stress too much about it. I usually leave a margin for error anyways in my calorie count. Enjoy the pizza - you've done great so far so enjoy it, guilt-free!! :D

Weight fluctuates throughout the day. Do not go to the trouble of buying a new scale, because any scale will do the same thing. Yes, it is feasible that the scale will read different weights throughout the day, depending on when you eat, how much your body has digested, how much water you're retaining, if you've gone to…

No, you don't have to be on the machine. I am usually, because I only take a minute to break from my set before starting another and use the time either to A) drink water or B) Type in the name of the machine. I work out in the Ladies Only section of my gym and it's never busy enough that someone is standing nearby waiting…

I generally give myself a day to be more flexible with my food and not stress too much about going over my recommended calories, but I've been noticing lately that I still will end up logging what I've eaten, even if the numbers aren't exactly awesome to see. I guess it's habit now? I did take a bit of a weekend off two…

I hope people don't think that about me! I have an ipod touch and I keep track of the machine/weight/reps that I do on the Notepad feature of the ipod :S So it probably does look like I'm on an iphone, texting. Uh oh.

If your treadmill knows your information (weight, gender, height) and kept track of your heart rate, then I'd go with the treadmill. MFP tends to estimate rather high and doesn't take into account these variables.

I don't know much about the effect of milk on weight loss, but I don't think drinking more water has created more water weight. Generally, an increase in water consumption has an opposite effect. If you are not drinking enough water, your body will retain more because it thinks it's not getting enough. If you do drink a…

Welcome :) Jessica Seinfeld's book, "Deceptively Delicious" looks really good and quite easy. I work at a book store and looked at it during a shift and most of the recipes seem quite easy. I didn't buy it because I don't have a food processor and can't be bothered with pureeing veggies constantly, lol. But from what I can…

The ones that I really pay attention are calories and sodium, for the reasons already mentioned. I try to keep everything else in line as much as possible, but I definitely don't freak out when my protein intake goes over the limit. :) I have heard as well that MFP has some absurdly low numbers for some of the categories,…

I live in Ontario and I go to the Athletic Club :) It's nice!

I use lucerne fat-free creamer (most of the time). It does the job and I think it's about 15-20 calories per tbsp. Sometimes if it's not in stock at the store, I'll use the Lucerne Half-and-half, which has more calories but it's not like 18% Creamer :S

I'd say do something 'easy' until your chest stops acting up. Nothing is worse than aggravating your chest, it will make you feel awful longer. Like you said, recumbent bike or just going for a walk just to get yourself moving a bit!

Well, Timmy Ho's is what we call Tim Hortons in Thunder Bay. Dunno if it's a cross-Canadian nickname or not. Probably equivalent to the Mickey D nickname. I just called it Timmy Ho-Hos to be silly, haha.

I was pleasantly surprised by my Wendy's lunch last week. I had a 5 piece chicken nuggets and a small chili, and the calorie count equaled roughly to what a Big Mac would be. Sodium was still high, but it was definitely a nice alternative! Even just going for smaller versions of what you'd normally eat is probably helpful.…

I think the TImFit menu is only in the States so far. I'm pretty sure Wendy's owns the American TH franchises so that makes sense. I do love Tim Hortons - had a muffin yesterday during my work break as my "dinner" - definitely had a full dinners worth of calories :S Just packed into a small muffin, lol. Be careful if you…

I've lost 9% of my total body weight, and I've completed 41% of my goal!

When I lived in the UK I rarely had to ask for the restaurant to pack up the leftovers! I think the portion sizes are a little less insane compared to North America, but I could've just been hungrier :P Does anybody else think that the portion sizes are different? I say, don't worry about what the restaurant staff think!…

I weigh normally every Wednesday (why Wednesday? I'm not sure why - recover from weekend slips, maybe? :P ) Sometimes I will do a mid-week check though. I use a regular dial scale - it works!
-
My first week I lost about 3-4lbs and then lost steadily 1-2 pounds for several weeks. Then I was stuck for 3 weeks with no progress (ugh!) And then I lost a final 2. And then it was Christmas. Just keep plugging away at it! Slow and steady is generally regarded as the healthy way to take off weight, instead of…
