"Which bike?" Love the obsession.

Tried and true: Loosen ALL three straps, or all straps if you have fewer. You've loosened them some, try a bit more. The strap that crosses the toes should not be tight at all. It should just lay gently across the velcro. No pulling or tightening. As long as you are able to get out of the cleat (meaning your foot doesn't…

Hello Cyclists, I practically work at a bike shop (sort of an exaggeration), but I would not buy new for $500. The quality will be lacking and your components will have issues. I'm more fan of scouring CraigsList, etc., looking for a higher quality bike, that someone just isn't using anymore. Just make sure it fits your…

When I was in college, I was recruited to work at one such business. I knew the owner, and simply couldn't say no. After working a short time, I had been taught all the "right things to say", including "oh, yes, I use them all the time". (Actually, I was training for a triathlon, and had just finished a season of rowing.)…

You were at the NC High School Championships?? I didn't see you.

I'll respond to that, after I stop gloating about being able to find this thread, again.

If you lived around here, the meetings would be about basketball, if there were any meetings scheduled at all. No one goes to work, during March.

You missed a recent forum circus, about the evils of sugar. I'm wondering how long it'll take, to revive the battle. Sugar has 16kCal per teaspoon. Seems pretty innocent, to me.

I do well with monotony. When off the bike, I'm on the trainer, riding a steady state 90 rpm for 60 minutes. Music.... good music... essential element.

Didn't Cannondale go through some changes lately... similar to Schwinn??

I'm a supporter of "freedom of the press", but it seems to me that the press operates "too freely" these days. Reporters have become lax in fact-checking, proof-reading, and scruples. Maybe it's a mirror of society. I'm slow to anger, and I don't think I'd care at all, if someone is texting during previews. I hope I…

Hmm. How do I add the photo??

Sugar is the reason I exercise, and it creates a 1:1 ratio. The more exercise I manage, the more sugar I can eat!

Will be traveling to Ft. Lauderdale a few times this spring for work. Do any shops rent road bikes, for a day or two? Are the roads cycling friendly? Y'all sure have traffic down there.

Carolina cyclist here - riding year round through rolling hills.

Only way I can do it is... excessive amounts of exercise!

Higher cadence burns more calories. Counter-intuitive, but everything I've read supports that. One example: http://www.livestrong.com/article/454690-road-cycling-lose-weight-cadence/

I don't understand your topic title. If it's funny, I've missed it. But, that's half the amusement. Thank you, for your well-stated dose of common sense. The long list of excuses and weird remedies boggle the mind, these days. I hope many read your list, and smile sheepishly, and admit, "maybe I've been a bit…
