I was just given one of these to participate in a research project. Pretty fun to do and I sweat after a couple of minutes.

water aerobics is listed in the exercises on MFP - I imagine water Zumba is about the same as other water aerobics for calorie burn.

It's painful the first couple of weeks, until your body gets used to it. I agree that it makes a lot of difference to have everything you need packed up and ready to go the night before!

My water aerobics class is popular with people who have knee and feet issues. The water takes so much of the stress off.

I've used the Zip for about 18 month and have loved it. Initially I got it because it was all I could afford, but now I think if I had it to do over again and somebody gave me $100+ I would still get the Zip ($50). It is discreet - I wear it on my waist, pocket, or bra (and on a headband during water aerobics). Nobody…

I started out over 50 years old and over 300 pounds. The first time I walked two miles it took me an hour and I was absolutely exhausted when I got home. I started out just doing half an hour to an hour of something three days per week. After two years I now work out every single day doing a variety of thing; including…

I still have more than 75 pounds to lose, but go to water aerobics. In fact I now teach the class - and I"m not exactly rocking a bathing suit! Don't worry, everybody is so busy worrying about how THEY look that they won't notice how you look. Go to water aerobics, it will help tone you.

Down almost 90 now, all of it lost through nutrition and exercise. No drugs, no surgery. It has taken two years, and I still have a lot to lose, but I feel good physically and emotionally. It's been worth it to do this "the right way"! BTW I am post-menopausal, which can make weight loss more difficult, but it's obviously…

Ah, I love my little FitBit Zip.

In June I did one in 43:13. Sounds seriously slow compared to most here, but it took me almost an hour to do my first 5K eighteen months earlier. I'm 53 and still have 75 pounds to lose, so I am proud of my progress so far. Eventually I will do more running than walking and shorten my time further.

I use the mapmywalk app. It tells me my pace at each mile, and the average pace at the end. And syncs with MFP. I really like it.

I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to work with weights. I started out with weights and weight machines at the very beginning, when I had more than 160 pounds to lose. Still going at it with 75 pounds to go.

I've had two personal trainers. The first one really got me started with working out consistently, and guided me through a lot of my weight loss. He had me do circuit type workouts, a new workout every week (which I would repeat on my own between our sessions). He got promoted into management at the gym and dropped a lot…

I lost a good amount of weight on "calories in, calories out" , I did not want to give up my treats and just fit them into my calorie budget. But after months on a plateau I cut out the sugar and started losing again. Although these tips aren't necessarily proven, it doesn't hurt to try one of these things if you get…

Fantastic!

I like the taste of GNC Lean Chocolate Peanut Butter (mixed with almond milk and blended with my immersion blender it tastes a lot like a Frosty - yum). This summer I'm using the Orange Creamsicle flavor Core Vantage from Complete Nutrition. Also mixed with almond milk it is yummy and refreshing. At lest - I like these.…

MFP is a great tool for healthy weight loss. You won't lose at "Biggest Loser" speeds, but tracking food and activity will allow you to gain health as you lose weight. Enjoy the journey!

I would just have the cake OR the ice cream, not both (choose the one that looks best!)
-
You could just consider that your treat for today :)

Maybe try again to link mfp to fitbit. You should definitely be seeing "credit" for fitbit. With the latest app update I even see my total steps show up and get updated when my fitbit syncs. Something isn't working quite right for you.

This is beautiful. Thanks for writing it!

If you watch your calories and exercise you will lose weight, Phen or no Phen. :)

I have liked doing a shake for breakfast (the last few months it's been GNC Lean 25) because I'm usually crunched for time and need protein because I exercise in the morning. But a multivitamin and fish oil are probably the only supplements you really need. And you do need actual food :)

Heavier people burn more than lighter people, younger people more than older people....the website takes all your stats into account so your calorie burn for a certain number of steps may be different than someone else's.

Does your gym have any personal trainers? Most gyms will give you a free session or two when you join, it's definitely worth looking into to have someone teach you to use the equipment.

I have a FitBit Zip. It's very reliable and discreet (I can wear it on my waist or bra, nobody knows I have it on, unlike the wrist worn models). It doesn't track sleep, but that's not an issue for me so I didn't see any reason to spend twice as much money on the other types. I love to see how I'm doing throughout the day,…

Try Leslie Sansone walking DVD's. I used them during the winter in my tiny family room.

I invite my parents and in-laws (just mother-in-law now) to come to my house for a homemade dinner every Mother's Day and Father's Day. I have seven children, six of them on their own now, and I invite them as well and hope to see as many as possible. It's a wonderful FAMILY day. I say the more the merrier.
