I'm about to start a PhD program in Clinical Psych at Utah woohoo Feel free to friend me! P.S. Not going to be that active in the next month or so since I'll be moving and getting organized!

I recommend taking as long as you can--I've heard the recommended is 6 months and I'm pretty sure that's what mine ended up being... I took a Kaplan class and because of somewhat bad timing, I didn't get a TON out of the class (I took it the semester I was graduating, bad plan). So for me, the first 3/4 months I was taking…

I am very new to fitness pal (maybe 3 weeks). I lasted on the 1200 calorie/day for 2 days and then I changed to TDEE. I have lost 1.5, maybe 2 pounds. I also got changed to a higher dose on synthroid 3 months ago, so my body is still adjusting to that. Hopefully I can keep losing! I just like the TDEE because I always had…

Late to reply to this post, but oh well. I've done Bikram and Hot Hatha and Vinyasa. I practiced Bikram 1-2 times a week for about 10 months while I was in college and took a year off from any hot yoga for about a year (not a lot of studios where I was living). This past Oct I finally got back in to Hot Yoga and went with…

Ohh man! This is great, and reading everyone's goals makes it hard for me to choose! I'm going to go with unassisted tripod headstand and my dream pose is king pigeon... but I think that might take me years to get to with my hips.

I'm new to MFP and love yoga! 108 days of straight yoga is an awesome challenge... and one I hope to try after a trip this weekend. For those of you looking for videos/DVDs, I recently discovered some podcasts on itunes. Some of these are just audio, some have video. I just searched Yoga and I've downloaded classes that…

I am assuming there is a calorie difference between yoga that is done in a heated room (oftentimes 100-105 degrees + 40% humidity) and a yoga class done in a fitness studio. I don't see how there isn't! Personally, I feel like I get a harder work out in a hot class. And I obviously sweat more. It's also annoying that…

If I was to do vinyasa yoga at home though, so not in a heated room, I would probably say 250 an hour? I don't know, but practicing at home is definitely less of a work out for me.

I agree with the first poster--I burn way more than 145 calories at my hot yoga! I would around350/hour--honestly even more when the teachers really kick your but or the room is extra hot or stuffy. The classes are usually 75 minutes, but oftentimes the instructors go over.

I recently started actually using My Fitness Pal and am happy I found this board! I am 24 and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago. In these 2 years I have gained between 15-20 pounds and have found it basically impossible to lose this weight. I exercise regularly, but now I've come to the realization that I need…
