  • I've never heard of a recovery week. I wouldn't take one, but not sure why your hrm says to. A week is a long time in the scheme of things.
  • your post sounds like you're selling something. you don't work in advertising do you?
  • Stop running. Seriously, they can take up to 2 weeks to heal. You don't want to push it as you can cause bigger fractures. You can try wrapping them to help alleviate pain/discomfort. Ice may help too. What causes it is taking on too much mileage too quickly. When I got shin splints I had gone from running 2 miles to 6…
  • Bruised my ribs in a dirt bike crash. Everything I did hurt. You can try wrapping them for support and ibuprofin for pain/inflammation. Not much you can do with the jarring though as you'll still feel some pain. I broke my wrist this past summer in a mountain bike accident. I ran but it hurt. The jarring. Wrapped it tight…
  • I used to. I had one that was not velcro and I would pull it on. Not bad but not really supportive. Had another one with velcro tabs on the side. Better but not great. Then there comes the one with velcro and long straps that you wrapped around. It would take half a minute to adjust it perfect but it was the best one I…
  • I went for my physical for my job. I got the results of all the tests and it shows me at a 32% bodyfat. It's only based off height and weight. Just like Wii shows me as a fat guy. Well the doctor was nice enough to include stuff about me losing weight and how detrimental to my health my body fat percentage is. I didn't…
  • I was reading Muscle & Fitness and remember them saying Creatine is one of the most studied supplements. Now with that, you'll need to drink more water and your body will be storing more water. You can also expect it to give your muscles a more smoothed over look due to this. However, it is the number one supplement to…
  • If you're entering your age and weight then it's going to be pretty close. It will know how hard you're working with those parameters and can judge how many calories you're burning.
  • I agree with lulusmom. You have an acceptable body fat percentage for the military so you're not unhealthy in that regards. As a male I'm looking at getting down below 10% for my abs to show. Muscle definition is a great thing on a woman, and I'm not saying you have to look like some bodybuilder. Just toned is good and the…
  • If you're having trouble with running you can try the elliptical or bicycle. They'll both work your cardio but it's a different type of workout. If you're dieting and running every day you are probably biting off more than you can chew. Your body is starving for fuel. You should set up cardio days, not everyday cardio. I…
  • When I train I listen to my body. When I race I tell it to shut the hell up. If you're experiencing pain you need time to allow your body to heal. The idea of stopping really does stink, but it's necessary. If you don't allow your body to heal then consider you're going to start doing permanent damage. It's better to lose…
  • When you're dead it's too late. That's it. The rest comes down to you. Some people have trouble sleeping after working out, so late night may not be for you. Early morning has it's benefits, but it's always better to workout late than not at all. I get off work an hour early 3 days a week (I get paid 3 hours a week to…
  • Army pt's :smokin:
  • I get like that after a long run. I can lift for two hours and feel awesome, but if I run for an hour I'm toast. Depleting your sugar's seems to make sense. I usually have a protein shake afterwards but it doesn't help. I'm just too whooped. I refer to it as "coming down from my runner's high". I'll literally be smiling…
  • agreed. better safe than sorry. If you overtrain you might lose a week or more. At least at this rate you're making steady progress. There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing".
  • calisthenics - vigorous sounds right to me, or at least in the right ball park.
  • Too bad bananas make me sick. I have tried rice milk ice cream before. I was surprised at how good it was. Not sure the nutrition info though.
  • I go every day, but I don't. Wait, what? Down time happens, don't plan on it. If it makes you feel good and you're not hurting then there's nothing wrong with it. The main concern is that you're not overtraining a certain muscle group. Now, I plan to go every day. If I don't I can't sleep at night. I'm jittery and packed…
  • World of Warcraft. The golden standard in mmorpg. Untouchable. Contra. Arguably the beginning of shooter games as a franchise. Mario. Around since dirt was new and still going strong. Can't deny it.
  • You have to assess how you feel. This site/app/whatever isn't just designed for people looking to lose weight. If I'm liftig regularly and calories are important to me I would want to eat them back to keep energy levels up. However, I'm trying to lose weight so I always make sure I'm under my calorie goal and don't…
  • He's such a quack and a rating's *kitten*. He's always touting the latest/greatest and not necessarily anything that's beneficial. One show he's talking about diet and another he's touting new plastic surgery procedures. Sure, lose an inch or two off your belly in 6 months by going weekly for injections into your gut and…
  • Ok, and now for a serious reply from a guy. Typically it's after weight training and not running. Coming down from a runner's high just takes everything out of me. Weight training leaves muscles swollen and sore. So off to the shower, right? It's called some special, not-so-run-of-the-mill soap (not Axe, geesh) but more…
  • Upright is probably what you think of when you imagine an exercise bike. They have all the electronic gadgets and maybe even the handles move. It's a traditional riding position. The recumbent has you sitting down as if in a chair with your legs out in front of you. This is the one I see the most people sitting at and…
  • Currently taking Liquid Clenbutrx Hardcore Six Star Whey Protein generic multi-vitamin N.O. Fury When the Clenbutrx is gone that's it as I'm pretty happy so far with my results. I'll also be starting Creatine after I lose a few more pounds. The creatine is because I do heavy lifting 3x a week. Protein shakes I do for…
  • Syntha-6 is probably the best tasting I've ever had. I can honestly say it actually tastes good with water if you can't get your hands on milk. If you don't want to pay so much for protein powder you can try Six Star whey protein from Wal Mart, Walgreens, Sam's Club, etc. It tastes good with milk or water and at $20 for a…
  • I keep it simple. One scoop of whey protein, usually Six-Star chocolate, skim milk, a few strawberries, ice, and voila!
  • I don't include it in my plan at all. I've really cut back to only drinking about 2 cups a day. I don't use anything in it other than a dash of skim milk, like a tablespoon.
  • Last year I was running almost every day. I was posting some fast 5k times, although I never competed. Well, I just got burned out. I really loved running but just couldn't bring myself to do it anymore. The runs were the same neighborhood, the same flock of turkey, the same herd of deer, the same traffic. I have to drive…
  • A year ago at NTC. Ft. Irwin, CA. Met the Monster Energy girls. Very nice and very beautiful if I might add.
  • You want some resistance exercises. That's kind of a tricky thing. I've maintained my weight but cut body fat, except I'm doing heavy lifting. I would say maybe focus on protein in your diet but do what you can for resistance training. There's a lot of things you can do with just your own body weight.
