First off, most protein bars are absolutely terrible for you. Highly processed, with tons of chemicals, and containing huge amounts of saturated fat, carbs, sugar, and sugar alcohol. That being said, try Natural Quest Bars and pray you love the taste, because they have no competition in terms of ingredients, quality, and…

Whatever you don't like just juice it or put it in a smoothie.

I've found that protein powder is absolutely essential to getting as much as I want, but I am also careful to remember that it is not a replacement for real food. On the other hand, I've found that protein bars may as well be Outback Steakhouse Cheesecake in terms of their saturated fat, carbs, sugar, sugar alcohol, and in…

Personally I think if I ate that many carbs I would double or even triple my weight unless I was working out 3 hours a day minimum. I shoot for .8-1g protein in body weight, 25% of my calorie goal in good fat, and leave the remainder for low glycemic complex carbs. That gives me a range of 37-109 carbs a day.

I just put it in a smoothie every morning with protein powder and/or greek yogurt, and alternating fruits. Sometimes also either chia seeds or rolled oats.

Men should not take iron unless told to by a doctor. Excessive iron can cause premature aging and DNA mutation/cancer. The vast majority of men (99.9%) will get more than enough iron without trying. In general, men should ignore the iron tracker on MFP. Also, the best men's multivitamins will contain zero iron.

I'm no authority, but stores like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods will definitely have more vegan options. I would also advise you to ease into it very slowly, otherwise you run the risk of being deficient in a lot of different nutrients you took for granted in your old diet, especially in the short term.

Might be easier to run dessert portion control rather than trying to "replace" it. Also, you do need to indulge once in a while or you'll begin to hate your diet and/or the cravings will cause you to fail. Greek Yogurt with Fruit Any non-fat Yogurt really Frozen kefir Arctic Zero (low calorie ice cream made from whey,…

One of my favorite iPhone apps is Fooducate, which tells you about all the bad (or good) stuff in a particular food item. Slim Fast Shake: 4.5 tsp of sugar per serving Controversial artificial sweeteners Controversial artificial colors Phosphoric acid (lowers bone density) Heavily processed Fully hydrogenated oils…

Increase cardio but don't eat your exercise calories is one option. Vary what you're eating more. Change your macronutrient ratio. I.E. eat fewer carbs and more protein and good fat.

Getting a membership to a place like BJ's, Costco, or Sam's Club might be very helpful if that's an option for you. Buying in bulk is almost always cheaper. Also Trader Joe's is quite cheap and among the healthiest stores if you have one near you.

The benefits of giving up Diet Coke are pretty much limitless. If you're a true soda addict I'd say gift yourself a Sodastream, buy the natural flavors, and just try to work the calories into your diet. Having to do so will have the effect of reducing how much you're consuming on a daily basis as well. You can also buy…

According to my research you should consume .25g of protein and carbs of your Target weight 30 min. before and within 30 min. after a workout. The post-workout meal is also pretty much the only time it's good to consume high glycemic carbs, so indulge. Personally, I find that I can't reconcile that number of carbs pre and…

I wouldn't go as far as to say those things are unhealthy. Personally I am in a place where logic determines that carbs should just be avoided when possible. A waffle for example basically has no real value. The cereal might, depending on the ingredients, but it's probably full of sugar too. I make a shake every morning…
