  • Hi everyone. I was hoping I could get some advice on my squats. I didn't realize how awful my form was until I watched it today and I don't know how to fix it. I know I need to though or I'm going to get hurt. My chest collapses so far forward and I can't seem to keep it up no matter how hard I try. The video is my last…
  • Survival by Muse (it also has an intro track, but I listen to music on shuffle when I run so I never hear them together and it's not totally necessary) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKFhS0cQLE8 This song gets me through any run! Then again, any song Matt Bellamy sings is enough to keep me going lol.
  • Mine also thankfully doesn't have my weight on it. If it did it wouldn't have been my highest weight though. I do like looking at it from time to time however because I look awful in the picture with my old hair style and fat face. I use it as a reminder that I have gotten thinner. It's fun getting carded now because they…
  • I agree with the smoothie idea! I sneak kale into my diet that way, and the smoothies are super yummy and filling. I also second making the things you do like healthier. That's what I did and it helps a lot. For example, I switched from white bread to multi-grain, regular bacon to center cut, stuff like that. It all tastes…
  • I just wanted to say that I tried turkey bacon for the first time tonight. It wasn't too bad, although it sort of had a hot dog taste to it. For the most part I couldn't tell too much of a difference though. However that could be because I cooked it with regular bacon lol. The color freaked me out though. I also don't like…
  • You're right. I know I've slacked off with taking pictures, and I know I'll regret it. The only mirror I have to take pictures in is in my living room because my apartment is weird lol. I took pictures a few months ago, I think maybe in April, but I haven't since then. I'll try to do so next time the room mates aren't…
  • Yeah, as much as I wish spot reducing was possible, I know it's not. Oh well. I am really happy with my arms and legs. I find myself flexing a lot lol. I try to remember them when I get discouraged about my belly. I think my butt is improving, but I don't have many good mirrors around to check. I'll have to make an effort…
  • I knew I forgot something! My macros are currently 25% protein (I average 100g a day), 30% fat, 45% carbs. I lift Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and run Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Sunday is a total rest day. Typing that made me realize the silliness of worrying about TDEE on rest days since I only have one...lol. I think…
  • Hey everyone! Today was a squats, OHP, DL day, and it was good! Squats: 65 lbs OHP: 55 lbs DL: 145 lbs My squat form is improving a lot so I'm pretty excited about that. I'm going to stick at 65 lbs until my form is solid and then I'll increase. OHP went well, despite progress being slow, which I expect. The deadlifts were…
  • Hi there! I'm still pretty new, so I may not be the best person to go by, but I'll give you my stats anyway  I started SL around the same time you did I think. I'm not totally sure since the log is on my old phone and hasn't been moved to my new one yet. Oops! When I started I was doing (I think): Squats -> 50 lbs…
  • I just wanted to say that I do that with my protein powder too! It's perfect for after a long run because I get everything I need at once. And honestly, it tastes pretty good! I tried using milk once, but it wasn't worth it.
  • But...but...I almost always drink tap water  The tap water around where I live comes from wells so it's really tasty already. But I agree that filtering can definitely improve taste, and quality if you have unpleasant stuff in your water supply. The water that came from the hoses back at my horse barn in PA was also…
  • My goals are: - Fix my squat form and get to around 100 (currently at 65 though I may lower that more) - Get bench press up to 90 (currently 65) - DL somewhere over 150 (currently 135 as of tonight, yay for getting to use the big plates for the first time!) - Keep progressing with OHP and rows, but I don't have any…
  • For now I'm just going to get a barbell and plates, but I would love a squat rack someday! My boyfriend can just lift the bar onto my back for the lower weights, but I'll need to get a rack eventually if all goes well lol. My gym (Planet Fitness unfortunately) only has one free barbell so I used the Smith machine because…
  • This issue with this, like most diet plans, is that once you go back to normal eating the weight comes right back. My mom swears by this diet, and has had good success with it. Until she went back to normal eating and gained almost all of the weight back. Now she's back to square one. She finds it unfair that I can eat…
  • Hi everyone. This is my first time posting, which is exciting! I'm looking forward to getting my squats back in check this month. The Smith machine (bad, bad idea) ruined my form unfortunately. But I'm hoping to get my own weight set this weekend so I can start over with my squats and really get the form down. I will…
  • I'm currently cooking up cauliflower cheesy "bread"sticks. I can't wait to try them!
  • Thanks for the suggestion! I was actually considering eating at maintenance for a week or two if things didn't start moving again. I might hold off since I'm seeing some progress, but if I stall again I'll probably change things up. I'm also going on a small vacation newt week so that'll certainly change up my eating…
  • I grew up eating Tastykakes! They were always a hit in my house. It was weird moving to Massachusetts and not seeing them everywhere. Though perhaps that was best for my waist line lol. They're starting to get them up here though which is nice, though I don't eat them anymore. As for everyone saying they're gross and…
  • Who are you to judge how someone works out? Why not be happy that they're trying to improve their life instead? I never warm up before running, unless you count some stretches and the walk from my door to the road, which is around maybe 500 feet. I've been running for over a year, and have run numerous races, and I've…
  • I just started lifting 3 weeks ago so I don't know how useful my experience may be, but so far I haven't had any issues doing both. I had been running 4-5 times a week. Now I usually lift 3 days a week, run 3, and have one day completely off. The first few times running after I started lifting were hard, but it was just…
  • My mom used to make them too! I'm a plain pizza kind of gal though so we always just used tons of cheese lol.
  • English muffin pizzas are awesome! I often eat them for lunch. I get the high fiber muffins so they keep me full for a while, and they curb my pizza craving which is nice too!
  • Like many others who posted, I also get super red while working out. I've seen other people turn red too. I think people don't really care about it. Whenever I see someone that's really red I just assume they've been working hard and have a similar complexion to me. The only time someone has said something to me was when I…
  • I don't let it stop me, partly because I have a race soon and can't afford not to run lol. You could always try going on the lighter days if it really bothers you. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it lightens up while I'm working out so that helps too. I've found that moving really does help with cramps. It's a good…
  • I've been wearing size 8 pants for a long time, which I realize isn't an awful thing, but today I put on a size 6 for the first time in months and they fit! In fact, instead of being tight like they used to be, they're actually kind of loose! I've had to pull them up a bit a few times today, whereas before they we…
  • You responded while I was responding, so I'm editing this to include that. Variety is great, I agree, but your post wasn't clear about that. It just came off as saying smaller cup sizes are bad. Not being able to hear tone makes it hard to know how things should be taken sometimes. Also, I'm not saying it's not important…
  • If you're going to harp on people about not offending women, then maybe you shouldn't be just as offensive. There are still B cups in the world (such as myself), and you saying that sounds awful is offensive and rude. Practice what you preach or don't say anything. As for the topic, I agree that views have been changing. A…
  • I also vote for C25K. Also, how fast were you running? When I first started I ran way too fast and hard and couldn't do even a mile. But once I slowed down I was able to build endurance because I wasn't pushing too hard. Just find a slow comfortable pace and start there with C25K. It works, I promise!
