You're not going to get much support for any sort of "detox" or "cleanse" here. Because they're bull.
-
toxin: a poisonous substance that is a specific product of the metabolic activities of a living organism and is usually very unstable, notably toxic when introduced into the tissues, and typically capable of inducing antibody formation http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/toxin Not seeing how cholesterol is a toxin.…

Where in any of those studies does it mention da toxinz? Weight loss? Yup- as part of a healthy well rounded diet. Lots of vitamins? Fiber? Of course. But....?
-
Any tests or imaging done?
-
Just the fact you linked a website that has a whole tab designated for detoxes and cleanses should be your first clue... Then take into consideration that this website is run by a company trying to sell you some woo-tiful products... Then consider that this guy who writes the website has a million certifications in…

Which toxins are you referencing?

Lauren Brooks is an RKC who has put out books and DVDs. Great instructor, will teach you proper form. Sarah Lurie (I think I spelled it right) is another one-I bought some DVDs of hers for very cheap on Amazon, two are instructional and two are workouts. She wrote a book called "Kettlebells for Dummies" that reads really…

If it is prove, where is the study you are referencing?

Um, she's 18. Not that binge drinking is ok at any age, but who wasn't doing this at that age? She doesn't necessarily need AA. OP-do you feel you need to lose weight? Can you limit the alcohol? If not, then stop. You don't want to go down that path. The overeating? Stick around here to learn how to make healthier food…

Huh. Maybe because it's a body part? I wonder if we can type vagina. ETA: Yup we can.

I will run both indoors and outside. When the weather is nice, I'm outside. when it's too cold or too hot, I go to the gym. I recently started listening to audiobooks while I run, and it helps pass the time. I get lost in the story, or push myself to keep going...just one more chapter!

That clears it all up. So they list "fruit sugar" ont he list of sugars according to this lifestyle, and you're supposed to avoid those sugars, right? So then why is fruit listed as a NSNG suggested snack?
-
Because people like to eat to excess.

Perhaps you have some links to that research? I work in the field, so it is an interest of mine. Like I said, I don't dispute there are similarities in the presentation, but the ego-dystonic nature of the thoughts is part of what makes OCD what it is, as opposed to the ego-syntonic thoughts of someone with an eating…
-
No, it's not. OCD is listed in its' own catergory in the DSM V, along with disorders such as trichotillomania, compulsive skin picking, hoarding, and body dysmorphic disorder. Anorexia, bulimia, and Eating disorder NOS are in Feeding and Eating disorders. Yes, there is an obsessive nature to the way someone with an eating…

OCD is not an eating disorder. OCD by diagnostic criteria is an intrusive, unwanted, ego-dystonic thought (obsession) and a behavior that the person does to reduce the fear/anxiety caused by that thought (compulsion). It does not have to do with body image, weight, etc. While some other disorders can carry over and present…

Isn't your profile pic of your *kitten*?

As someone who used to swim competitively, I can say that while both are great cardio workouts, they are very different. I could swim for laps and laps, but struggled to run a mile. Now that I do run I still swim, but when I took a month off from the pool, even though I kept running, when I got back in the water I felt…

Why on earth would this be flagged? It's true for some, maybe not most but...more than I used to realize. I see it all the time. People fall prey to the diet industry. Take this pill, drink this shake, and you too can look like the model we photographed in someone else's pants to look like she lost this weight and became…

This^^ I took prozac for years without any impact on my weight-gain or loss. Everyone responds to meds different, but definetely talk to your doctor about it. Sometimes stopping and starting meds can make them less effective when you try to restart.

Sunkist has a good diet orange soda. I think there might be caffeine in it actually. Another one I like is Diet A&W root beer, or diet cream soda. Also 7-up makes diet cherry 7-up. Now I want cream soda. Edited to add-around here the movie theater and grocery store (wegmans-I love you) has a machine where you pick your…

From a mental health perspective, she did not treat her body well to manage her bipolar disorder. Severely restricting herself and overexercising, and the impact that can create on her wellbeing, coupled with a lack of sleep-all would set her up for an exacerbation of symptoms. And as someone else mentioned, her improved…

So, what is "good clean eating". How does "Rehydrate" work better than....water?!? How does this provide a "jumpstart". How is this teaching you to change your habits so that you don't "go back to eating bad food", anymore so than MFP teaches people this things? I do find it interesting that distributors for this, or…
-
Be wary of MLM scams like Advocare. Just use the MFP app, it's free and works!

Then you're not vegan. Isn't vegan an ethical lifestyle rather than a "diet"?

I only wear a sports bra to bed if I'm planning on getting up early in the AM to exercise. I sleep in my workout clothes so I just add socks and shoes and I'm ready to go.

So, how about Shakeology?
-
Huh, I eat a banana every day and still have chronic leg pain and allergies. Maybe I'm taking them in the wrong route? I could try snorting them....

This is interesting. There are several Asian people at my gym who only breast stroke. And not the way I was taught to do breast stroke-perhaps this is the reason why.

What about brushing them with a little honey for sweetness? I like tossing my zucchini with Feta cheese and dried blueberries-you get a little sweet and a little salt. I also like the idea above about soups. There are also recipes online where you can diced veggies like zucchini really finely and mix them into your burgers…
