  • Today will be day four. Not worried about today, but I can feel the urges starting to rise in anticipation of the weekend. Saturday night was my night-no one else home, just me, the animals, and cider. I have plans to meet family for breakfast Sunday morning so no sleeping late because I stayed up drinking. The following…
  • I'm in for Sober October. I'm getting married in one year and MUST lose the drinking weight I've gained. So far today will be day 3. Quick question-did anyone notice their cardio was poor when drinking? Or that it improved when they stopped drinking? My workouts feel so difficult to me right now and I used to bound with…
  • I pop in to this thread, verbalize a commitment, and then disappear for a few months at a time. I'm so tired of the cycle. I haven't successfully stopped my weekend binges and I've gained a lot of weight. But I'm going to be forty in a few months and I dont' want to enter my next decade a binge drinker. I want to return to…
  • Do you have a problem with cholesterol? There is mixed info out there about dietary cholesterol and eggs. If you don't have a medical reason to avoid them, then eat them.
  • Ketchup on eggs is great. But gotta love ketchup on mac and cheese.
  • Vit D (lab confirmed deficiency), and calcium, which my OB/GYN strongly encourages.
  • Congrats on finding a way to burn more calories than you eat.
  • I had problems with my cat and anxiety when I moved in with my boyfriend and he has a malamute (BIG doggy!). My vet recommended feliway infusers-they plug in like a glade plug-in and give off pheromones that are supposed to help soothe the cat. Seemed to work for her. I got mine on Amazon, I've seen them at Petsmart also.
  • So much for Dryjanuary. I drank last night-four shots of tequila mixed with diet blueberry and lemon over the course of four hours. I was stressed. I have so much on my plate right now and my anxiety was awful. I know I need to learn from this and start working through anxiety without the booze. I suppose I should still…
  • Kudos to everyone who kept AF this weekend if that was your goal, or moderate if that was the aim. I'm trying to stay AF for January. Saturdays are the hardest for me-and this weekend was no acception. I got hit with an urge, even texted my SO telling him I was breaking the no-alcohol rule, and he told me "ok, as long as…
  • I have that one (Dry January), but it seems to steer towards abstinence, not moderation, which is fine this month, but moving forwards I'd like to be able to track moderate days, etc. I've looked at other apps and they all seem the same-sobriety, not moderation.
  • @cupotea, what app is that?
  • I just got caught up on this thread, seems like people have lots of great things they want to work on. I personally am focusing on a few things this year, all of which are about making ME the priority. I'm doing a dry January with hopes that I'll keep going. I gained weight and I know alcohol is a contributor. I am…
  • I am trying to reduce my drinking, cause calories. Not to mention all the bad habits that come with my consumption. I am starting with a Dry January and then seeing how I feel at the end. I did have one drink on the 2nd, was out to dinner with my bf and his parents. Had one drink, was fine with it. My hope would be that in…
  • What apps do you guys use for counting sobriety? I'd love one that gives tips on benefits from abstaining, or goals met etc. But I don't need an AA app, I'm not spiritual nor do I think I'm an alcoholic, just someone who needs to reign it in.
  • I love Muse, going to see them in Toronto in March. I saw them at a music festival a few years ago-awesome. My favorite song they do is Hysteria-I just close my eyes and listen to those guitar solos....
  • Me too! I did it again this weekend-binged even though I knew the consequences. I notice I have held back on talking to my SO about this, even though I am completely open with him on everything else. It's almost as if, if I say something, then I have to follow through, because he'll know. Whereas if I keep this struggle to…
  • Back to day 1 for me. I was all motivated and ready to go, but last evening I had a pretty rough therapy session, touched on a lot of painful memories, and instead of doing what I should have done, which was go home, hug and my cat and dog and wait for my boyfriend to get home from work to comfort me, I poured myself two…
  • Now I know I need to buckle down on my less-drinking goal. I was just asked by a patient at work if I'm pregnant. :'( I went against my goals and binged last Saturday. Immediately regretted it, like I knew I would. I even lied to cancel plans with some friends so I could isolate at home. No good comes from this behavior.…
  • I love seeing people swimming. That is something I need to get back into. I used to swim in high school and had picked it up a few years ago again, but let it drop off.
  • From experience, even a very slow taper resulted in those nasty discontinuation effects that Effexor is notorious for. The only way I was able to get off of it was with a cross taper with Prozac.
  • I did a complete whole30 by the book in March, and lost a good amount of weight. (this was right before going on a cruise, I wanted to fit in my bikini!) I was very irritable at the end because of the restrictions. I did gained the weight back when I returned to normal eating. I think it just enabled me to go under the…
  • This is the type of challenge I need. I want to be able to make all the parts work together instead of focusing on a little bit over here, a little bit over there. I quit smoking in 2010. Was diagnosed with a mental illness in 2005, just returned to therapy and medication the beginning of this year, so I am getting a…
  • Hi all, I posted in the less alcohol group but have been reading through your posts on this thread and so much of it range true with me too. The hiding, the tricks to drink more and think you're hiding it from people, the internal rationalization to justify it, the planning and isolation is all me. I am currently doing a…
  • I have looked for the third app on the list, Sobriety Counter, but can't find one specifically with that name, just a few various versions. Do you know if it still exists or am I looking wrong?
  • I did not make it through the weekend. I started off on Saturday feeling motivated to work out, go to a support group I attend on occasion, make a grocery list, meal plan...for some reason while I was getting my nails done my mood shifted and I went to the store to get cider and junk food instead. Sat home, drank and ate,…
  • Hi all. I've tried to join in in this thread before but always ended up drinking anyways. I turned 39 yesterday and have decided that as I enter this last year of my 30s, I want to drink much less and get back in shape. I see my weight creeping up, my pants are tight, my heart rate soars when I exercise (if I exercise,…
  • I started drinking Nutpods when I was trying to cut out the artificial sweeteners months back, and now I can't drink the sweeter stuff (like Coffeemate). They have flavored ones that just add a hint of flavor. They're made from almond and coconut milk. About 20 calories for 2 tbsp.
  • Never heard of a bipolar diet. If there is one actually named that out there, I'd steer clear of it. Sounds like a gimmick. As far as the meds causing weight gain-they increase your appetite or make you feel sluggish/tired and not want to be as active. Make healthy food choices, stay active, and use this app and you can…
