  • ^^this I strive for 30 grams daily ever since a frightening diverticulitis attack (right after I got healthy and met my weight loss goal!) and years of problems. Fiber One cereals (the chocolate one makes a yummy crunchy snack!) and bars are good. I take a supplement as well as veggies/beans/greens/whole wheat.
  • I have always found this true. I went to a gym for a year - built up endurance on the elliptical etc., but didn't lose 1 lb. It made me much hungrier. During my recent SUCCESSFUL weight loss journey, I rarely exercised except for walking. I was never hungry and never felt deprived. Now I'm working out to tone up.

  • Emerald - all I can say is that in the beginning, it was hard for others (and ME) to accept the changes I was making to improve my health. Call it jealously, lack of self control in their lives, not wanting me to change...I found the beginning of MY journey was difficult for some to accept, and it frustrated me. Now that…
  • Toast Arnold Sandwich thins and then then top with a little sauce, skim mozzarella & any veggies or turkey sausage and bake til cheese melted for a QUICK and satisfying pizza craving!
  • Nutella on a pop cake was one of my "go to" snacks when losing. Once I met my goal, I don't want it anymore! Binge foods just have to stay out of the house. For me, it's certain cookies and chips. "JUST SAY NO", don't buy it knowing it's a potential binge food. Stay tough.
  • This is what I did. About every 10 lbs, I needed new work slacks. I'd wear them til they were baggy - but it felt GREAT to buy a size smaller, in maybe 2 basic colors. It would give me motivation to see I could fit into a smaller size. I'd need new jeans along the way too. I was truly shocked the day I fit into a size 10.…
  • I understand your wanting to be held accountable for what you're consuming. Don't stress and overthink it - choose items as close as possible for your diary. I like the idea of ordering a kid's size meal if you can. On my 50th birthday, before I reached my weight loss goal, I lived it up and had a big burger with cheese &…
  • I've been looking for new casserole recipes - I haven't had a Big Mac in years either. This sounds great - and my "Big Mac loving son" should certainly enjoy. Thank you!
  • I weigh in once a week (same time of day). It took me a while to figure out which day was best for me. If I weighed in more than weekly, I became obsessed and depressed! Good luck!
  • I was! It took me 46 weeks, but I lost 45 lbs. I'm continuing MFP to maintain. I lost without much exercise but am trying to get out walking more now. I felt overwhelmed, discouraged, and guilty if I didn't exercise - a set up for failure. I stuck to my diary, and it will be close to 365 days of continuous logging in for…
  • This made me smile! CONGRATULATIONS! Here's to BEING FABULOUS AT FIFTY (I turned 50 last month, 40 lbs lighter!) :flowerforyou:

  • It can get discouraging, but keep at it. I agree tho - make sure you're eating enough so your body isn't going into a starvation mode. I wasn't losing at 1300 cals as I think my body needed more fuel, but I am losing now on 1400. ALSO, make sure you're drinking LOTS of water so your body isn't retaining it by not having…
  • Same here! MFP recalculated my cals to 1310 a month ago, and I actually gained during that time. If they tell me 1200 is "starvation mode", I figured 1310 isn't too far from that. I increased my cals to 1400 last week and lost 2.4 lbs. I feel back on track, more energy to exercise, less fatigue! We need to listen to our…
  • Yes, I had some weeks early on that were little to no loss, maybe even a slight gain. Hang in there!! I'm a little frustrated now, after 6 months, having no real loss in 2 weeks. Looking for some tips here myself!
  • If you can safely keep Nutella in your household -- a tablespoon spread on a pop cake (or celery) is a great way to satisfy a chocolate craving with added crunch!
  • I'll be 50 in March...I didn't know I was an older member, but by clicking on this forum, I guess I am! Wishing everyone success thru the holiday season!
