  • I agree. Same thing happened to me. Went on the pill at 19. I didn't do my research properly to find out that one of the side effects was increased appetite. Never really had to pay attention to what went in, I was crazy active. I gained about 25 pounds in less than 2 months. Hormones were going a little crazy and I just…
  • I would say go easy, rest it, ibuprofen, and after 10 days - 2 weeks if it's still not better, go see a doc! Better sooner than later...those things can manifest into something really UGLY. Hope it gets better!!
  • I think you're right about changing from short and 1 long to mostly longer. Switching from afternoon to morning will definitely help with the heat, but if you're not a morning person, that could be part of the struggle too. It might be worth trying to go back to your old lengths and gradually up the mileage. Adding 2 miles…
  • Is swimming an option? That might be easier on your hips...Hope it gets better! :flowerforyou:
  • It just came out a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not sure too many people have even started it yet...sorry I couldn't be more help.

  • ^^ Agree! I use MapMyRun. GPS tracking and it syncs with MFP! Also, to help you start running, the C25K app is great.
  • I used to work in an office and I had the same problem! I worked in a department of 40 women who could all bake to heaven! I don't even want to talk about Christmastime. I didn't grow up being able to eat sweets at all and money issues, yup those too. I think I confused "Free" to mean more than just the food. If I didn't…
  • I make a pitcher of water with cucumber and lemon slices and stick it in the fridge. Yuuumm! I've tried to quit diet soda a bunch of times, but this time, I didn't try to...I started making smoothies with protein powder as a breakfast replacement, and a couple days in a row I forgot to grab a can of soda...I guess my body…
  • I know where you're coming from! A few years ago, I ran all the time, was fit as ever. Then I had shoulder surgery and wasn't allowed to do anything for 6 months. Then I just wanted to complain about how I wasn't allowed. I hung on to that for a whhhilllleeee. The moment for me was when I saw a picture of myself and was…
  • 7/1: 1.5 July total: 1.5
  • I've seen some people put it under calisthenics (sp?) ETA: I think the calorie burns are WAY high for those, so I probably wouldn't eat those back. It would just be nice to see for charts, stats, reports etc.
  • One thing I really like to do is look through the Success Stories board once in a while. The stories are amazing and inspiring. Good luck on your journey! You can do this! :flowerforyou:
  • Hi everyone! My name is Leigh, I'm 5 days away from being 26 (!!) and I'm from Murfreesboro, TN (30 miles south east of Nashville...). I used to be an avid runner up until a few years ago when I injured my shoulder. I packed on a bunch of weight, lost most of it, ran again, then gained again. I'm at the beginning of my new…
  • Just starting back running. 25 miles for me!
  • That's AWESOME!! Keep up the great work!! :flowerforyou:
  • When I started, I reverse calculated the top weight for a healthy BMI for my height (24). Here's one reverse calculator I found: http://www.countcalculate.com/diet/reverse-bmi/ I'm 5'9" so the top would be 162. I put that number in as my goal weight. When I get there, I'll evaluate if I think I have a little more to lose…
  • This sounds like a very doable plan and timeline! I'm 230 and I just have to pay closer attention to my knees, but it's definitely doable. I was starting to second guess myself and think I needed to lose more weight before trying to run some more, so I'm glad I came across your post! Anything is possible! WHOOP! You will…
  • WHOA! That's so cool!
  • Welcome!! I can touch my nose with my tongue.
  • CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's AWESOME!! :D
  • 1000 a day from a dietitian? Hmmm, sounds fishy to me, but I'm not a dietitian so what do I know? Personally, I agree about getting a second opinion. Maybe call your primary care physician? Most of the time, 1200 is seen as the "minimum". Especially with your activity level. I agree with aemp93, great work ethic!…
  • Agree. I'm trying to get one myself. This or the exercise ball chair. I also think you *might* be overthinking this. It for sure is hard to work at a desk all day. I work at a desk all day and have a 1 hr commute...each way. You just have to concentrate a little more on your calories, make sure you're getting the 30…
  • YES!! We have one little kitten Coco (4 mo) who we *think* is part Siamese because of his personality. He likes to supervise lol. My profile pic is of him and I the day we brought him home. I want to get him a playmate, but we live in a one room apt and bf says we don't have room  He likes to say "my gf wanted a cat…
  • That's an awesome accomplishment! Great job! :flowerforyou:
  • I agree completely! Congratulations for starting the journey! You can do this! :flowerforyou:
  • The changes we make to improve our fitness/weight are supposed to be lifestyle changes...and they're supposed to be changes that last for life. Sometimes life happens. Stuff gets in the way. Stuff we can't just push off so we can work out. We just have to do the best we can, forgive our mistakes, and continue on. IMO we…
  • Me too! I've hated them since...forever. I started putting them in smoothies for a while because I know they have so much potassium, but I still can't eat one plain.
  • ^ THIS. I'm dying laughing right now. :drinker:
  • Wow! I was 17.5% (3.5 sizes on the sliding scale) smaller than I thought! Thanks for sharing!
  • I usually weigh once a week. Saturday mornings. That way I have time to take measurements too. I used to weigh daily, but I got really depressed if the number went up, even though I knew it was because of normal fluctuations...
