If after 20 mins you were truly "immensely exhausted" you went out far harder than you're currently capable of. Just learn to pace yourself and build some running base before trying to be clever and sprinting around.

I kind of agree (assuming you were referring to the UK), there is much animosity from motorists towards cyclists. But having said that... I'm a cyclist, a motorist, a runner ... and I think I can see many perspectives... but SOME cyclists really don't help themselves and give the rest of us a really bad image. Now that…

My guess is you're just not running fit, that's all.

I road ride in the UK and that assertive riding style pretty much reflects what I do. Don't be forced into the gutter! Own the road, because that way they have to overtake you properly and pay attention to oncoming traffic etc rather than breeze past you with two inches between your thigh and the car!!

No run of the mill "toning shoe" will be specific enough to address your needs as a runner. Why do you think there are literally hundreds of running shoes on the market? Not just to make money, but to address the gait-specific needs of various runners. flat footed runners - pronating runners - high arched runners -…

I've not seen Rosy for a few days. Hope she's ok.

How do you know it's Sciatica, or were you diagnosed with this by a physio? Only asking because there are many other conditions that are similar such as Piriformis, Sacroilliac Joint Dysfunction etc etc.

Actually for newbie runners I would NOT recommend too much speed work because it leads to overstriding and it's much harder impact. CV fitness builds very quickly. Musular-skeletal strength and bone density does not!! The reason so many newbie runners get injured is because they're trying to be clever sprinting around,…

And THAT is indeed the answer!!

ooh I thought I had posted here but I think it got swallowed up somewhere.... After break-up with other half allowed myself a week of meltdown and a week of pity party... now trying to get on with life without him... :frown: Utterly wubbish training weeks those two weeks, I mean literally naff all... so need to get…

It's funny,... now at 137lb with a BMI 22 and technically still 12lb away from my goal but I feel tiny sometimes. I know friends were telling me that when I was 125lb I was "really very small" but I don't remember it as that? Whereas now I'm thinking where do I actually take another 12lb from... ?? Bizarre... I have…

137.2lb and new BMI is 22.1 No longer know where to post with so many threads so mailed Rosy my weight so it doesn't get missed like last week.
-
I no longer know where to post. LOL. Do we update here??

You see I don't get how we know where we're at when everyone weighs in on different days, surely when we put the results up some people will only half a week into their week etc? I just think it would make more sense if we all presented our scores on the doors on the same day? And when we used to mail Rosey no one was ever…

I hear you!! I'm minding my own business and get some bigger women looking me up and down in that snarly way, and you know what, it does NOT make me more empathic to their cause with that sort of attitude.

So what's the solution? They wear long slacks and baggy t-shirts two sizes too big to make you feel better? Have you ever considered that they didn't always look like that? That they might have worked hard for their bodies and want to enjoy them? Or, God forbid, that's just the kit they're comfortable in?
-
I don't know about you guys but I'm confused... :embarassed: It seems so much more complicated now with everyone having different weigh in days, it seems to be impossible to compare like with like. I thought last time when we just used to email Rosy every Saturday, no one's results got left off and it seemed much less…

Whether you will benefit from a personal trainer depends on you and the trainer. I've known truly fantastic PTs that have helped me get great results, they were innovative, knowledgeable, etc. It kind of depends on what you want to achieve, how much knowledge you have, how self motivated you are. Stroutman on this forum…

**DING!!** Next round... *gets popcorn*

Well done for saying something!! I would have probably asked her if she can read, considering there are notices everywhere!! Unless you're a doctor on call then there is no need to be chatting on your phone socially while you're in the gym.

Google "loop lacing". That's how I lace mine. The term might help you to find other ways of lacing too.

I fully agree with the OP, and have seen a lot of very very questionable excercise adds myself such as "cooking" You burn calories all day, during everything we do, but I sure don't sit here and add "typing response on MFP -- 5 mins -- 12 calories"... I mean seriously... :grumble: If it something you've always done…

I have friends who both run and cycle with babies. There are specific running strollers and they have a little trailer to put behind a bike.

I lost 4.6lb last week from 142.6lb to 138lb. I might have just missed the weigh in before the table was drawn up??? I reported in on Saturday? :indifferent: Does it count towards next week (this week) now I guess? Rosy, was it easier for you for people to send you a message instead of you having to browse the thread?…

27th April for a week. :drinker: You there same time?

Lanza is really popular with triathletes. There are a few training camps on the island and it hosts an Ironman race too. I thought I might hire a bike to explore the island...
-
Aw.... sorry to hear that. Tis rubbish isn't it. :frown:

Never actually been to Lanzarote. Going to Costa Teguise. Nice? :ohwell: It said it's the nicest of the Canaries, and I liked the whole thing of it being volcanic, nice landscape etc.
