Eat mostly real food, eliminate carb blockers and follow the guidelines on MFP. Seriously. It works.
-
Yep, this. You should allow yourself only that which is really worth it. I have a meal category for that! And to each his own.

Yes.

Hi! I am old at this and have the following suggestions: 1> If you hardy ever eat at your mom's, just use something like "homemade spaghetti" that someone else has entered and estimate how much you ate. 2> If you eat at your mom's a lot and you want this to work, you have to do it the hard way. Either get the recipe she…

Nice!

This. Eat it if you want it and if it fits in your plan. Otherwise- be nice to your boss, glad she cares, thank her, take it- and pitch it. It's the kindest thing you can do - for both of you.

You know you can count on my prayers!

This is me. I was moderately overweight for so many years (I'm just talking about 30lb or so) and always hated seeing pictures of myself- so now when I see a picture I think, wow! That's me! Not always- but a lot of the time.

Good article! Thanks! Just yesterday I read a parallel one on Sermo (website for doctors) about the cardiovascular risks associated with "normal weight obesity" - what we call here on MFP "skinny fat." Yep- we are in the right place!
-
I do. But I do it in reverse. I save up all week to enjoy extra calories on Sunday!!

According to your measurements, you have hourglass. If you gain weight, you will probably turn into apple, based on what you said.
-
Yes. I have done it the last 3 years and will do it again. Last year was the first year I did not log on Christmas. We'll see about this year.
-
This- basically, but remembering that Thanksgiving is ONE day, Christmas is ONE day and New Years is ONE day. I can eat what I want those days, but not for the whole 6 weeks. I have learned my lesson!
-
I agree. I love cheese. Just have to fit it in!

Great!!

Hey- I'm a major pear too! What kind of exercise are you doing? I got down to my goal weight, still was fat below the waist, changed my goal, lost more weight, still too fat down there, lost more weight, everyone tells me I am too skinny, but I still see a fat rear. So I started investigating it, found out the problem was…

Haha yeah- me too! I want to check it out as well! I have been working for the last 2 years to build LBM. It's HARD. Eatrunstretch despite everything I lost some muscle with my last 20lb. Sigh. Well, I feel good and look good- at least in clothes- so that's OK. Had a little victory in the gym today! I am (as a lot of you…

On and Pearl- that's EXACTLY why I don't have a food scale. I'm obsessive enough as it is.

WTG Kristie and Rildev! Here are my catch-up comments: 1> I had a migraine on Friday which was the same day apparently all y'all were sick- weird. 2> Read with interest the BF% comments. I previously went to a gym that used the thingy that you hold out in front of you. When I switched gyms (and then switched again) I lost…

It depends. But I have been logging consistently for 3 years and I do go over by quite a lot, occasionally. Here is what I do: As someone else said, I mostly go for the weekly average. I "save" calories to enjoy Sunday (which my dad always said every Sunday is a "little Easter" - that's why it's Sunday). I allow myself on…
-
Like this. Exactly.
-
Yes. And I even talk about budgeting calories for something I want to eat later.

For cardio benefit you need to do at least 20 minutes continuous. But other than that I don't think it matters.

Go here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/102-new-rules-of-lifting-for-women-nrol4w The Stage 1 workouts are short. But don't worry- they get longer! Yeah a lot of us felt that we were not doing very much in the beginning...
-
You could "artificially" do it by changing your time zone. Just make it 4 hours ahead of what it really is, so that your day will start at 8pm instead of midnight.
-
Oh but don't feel bad- it's a bit confusing. And right when you get it down, you switch stages and it changes. But that keeps it fun.
-
There's a NROL4W group here on MFP - please join us! Now- to answer your question- in Stage 1 you do each workout one time. So, (sorry I don't have the book in front of me - but I just redid stage 1 workout 1 yesterday so I should be close), you start out by doing the recommended number of squats. Do the warmup set first-…

This.

I'm BACK!!! Just got to the weight room again yesterday. I was away for 3 weeks- first business, then vacation. The hotel for the business trip had a GREAT gym- I still need to get to TripAdvisor to compliment them for it. Vacation was in Italy and involved a LOT of walking- but no gym. It was major NSV- I am in such…

Haha you could set your clock by my dog- she knows EXACTLY when it is time for her walk!
