Hi from Croatia ladies! Finally made it to the hotel gym today and what do you know- they have a real bench press and a squat rack!! Enjoyed the workout although I was too tired to do a long one. Beeps I love your plan-in-advance with calories I pretty much do that too, although I don't usually log the whole week. If I am…

Hi ladies- just checking in! I have been traveling - now in the airport in Frankfurt. Only one more flight - whew!! Hope to get in at least a short workout in the hotel gym tonight. I've been doing some walking in the airports but otherwise just sitting and I feel major icky. Beeps- I had a car I LOVED for 18 years. Every…

I was in the operating room in Pittsburgh, assisting with a complicated surgery. Someone called on the phone and told the nurse what had happened. When she started to tell the team the head surgeon told her to stop, that we all have to focus on the baby. So no one said anything. I will never forget when we finally finished…

Great lifting, ladies! I'm going tomorrow instead of today since today is day of fast for peace in Syria. I decided fasting and lifting was not an optimal combination haha. It's just as well, since my back is still a little sore from Thursday. I had the low rep dead lifts (which I think I did 4x6x115) followed by the high…

One more thing to add: try to eat relatively healthy most of the time without making yourself miserable. For these reasons: 1> Fruits and veggies fill you up for fewer calories 2> Proteins and fats take longer to digest so you will feel full longer than with carbs- especially simple carbs like sugar, white bread, white…

I think that's totally appropriate. I think the idea is that each person can contribute according to their own belief or value system. Thanks!

Yayy Beeps!! I am SO glad! And Samntha - wow, yeah take care of yourself!

pues depende del problema!!! Lo que se recomienda mas que nada son banano, arroz, pan tostada, y te.

This. Oh and the 100 year old walking independently, too.
-
Yes I totally have that problem. What I try to do is go to the gym at the least-crowded time that I can fit in my schedule, especially if the workout for the day calls for a "scarce" resource like the (one) squat rack or the lat pull. THe other thing I do is change around the order of the workout so that I can keep moving…

Oh and CONGRATULATIONS RUNZ on your AMRAPS!!!

OK so Tuesday I made a chocolate tiramisu cake and took it to have dinner with friends. I was like just short of 1000 calories over for the day. Woke up still stuffed on Wednesday, I had been planning to lift that day around midday after I finished clinic and a couple meetings. So, I was too full to eat breakfast, just…

1. They make me tachycardic. LOL 2. I feel like I am limited more by my grip strength and by just overall getting tired than by the muscles they are designed to work. Having said that- I think this is the main benefit of programs like this where we are working more than one muscle group. I think the two areas in which I…

You can friend me. I am basically at goal weight and working with weights etc to change my body composition. I think I am on MFP for the long haul!
-
"Maximum" heart rate is usually quoted at about 200 minus your age. The traditional wisdom is to aim for 80-85% max if you are doing cardio.

Yeah thanks for the info and the post! I am just finishing up NROLFW and was trying to decide which to look at next. There are no libraries where I live so I pretty much have to just buy it and get it shipped...

Hello: I am just finishing up this workout and I have enjoyed it. Unlike one of the previous posters, I read the nutrition part but stuck largely with the nutrition plan I had already established on MFP. On the other hand I have followed religiously the workout in the book exactly as written. I worked with a trainer for…

Just back from workout 6 of level 7. Hate those step-ups- they really make my heart race!! But I feel them the next day- so they must be good for me!! Cowgirl- hang in there and we don't mind if you vent! Beeps- thanks for staying with us mentally! I hope your recovery will speed up so you can be back in the gym with us…

Yep. Could be stress. Could be nothing. Could be a huge cancer in your stomach. Get it checked. Now.

The bioavailability of the protein is different. Meaning- steak takes a lot longer to digest and absorb. A lot of people believe (based on data which is admittedly controversial- but there is data) that consuming an easily digestible protein source right after a workout with weights helps build muscle better.

I want this book.

Thanks everybody and congratulations Runz! Well it has taken me 8 months because I travel a lot for work- but I have been really consistent with 3 days a week when I am home- plus I do whatever I can in the hotel gyms, depending on what they have (which ranges from fairly decent to nothing at all). Just did workout 5 of…

Please don't give up. You can get a lot of good advice here. Fight rudeness with politeness. Everyone (or almost everyone) means to be helpful. Thank people for their advice- and just take the part you want and ignore the rest. The New Rules book is great- I bought it, read it, and am almost through the 7 stages and…

Hi Ladies!!!!!!!!! I've pretty much given up on posting in the individual stages. I think I did stage 6 all by myself and I feel like no one else must be in Stage 7 now either. Ah well. It was interesting to read from those that passed before me though!!

I believe you are incorrect. IBW is based on what is healthy. In fact the most recent information I have seen is that people at the LOWER end of the "normal" BMI range have longer life expectancy. Too bad we are used to seeing obese people- but the fact of the matter is it's not healthy to carry around excess fat.

The website referenced by OP is 2010 data. Could we see something more recent?
-
Hmmm - good idea. I will have to try them. I usually buy Pure Protein- either at Walmart or Amazon. I go for the best protein/calorie ratio at a good price.
-
Wow- that's a tough set of stresses! I will pray for you, Hannah. Send me a friend request too if you want. I have been here faithfully for almost 3 years now...

Totally agree. I have a "cheat day" every Sunday though I don't consider it cheating. The rules are: I do log, I don't go more than 1000 calories over, and I don't (or I almost never) go over for the week total. I save calories for Sunday all week.
