  • I took it for a couple of years and the hair was a lot better. Now changed doctors and been off for a year and it's all back like crazy. Grr... I was down to shaving once every two weeks and now have to everyday, sometimes twice a day. No side effects from it besides needing to drink tons of water. Wish my new doctor would…
  • I just started taking this myself and taking it Sept 20-Sept 30. I was experiencing bad cramping when I first started, but I have been having that for the past 3 months with no cycle. Depending on how long you went without a cycle, then maybe it's just your body getting ready. I have had cramps so bad, I have been in tears…
  • I am in the same boat right now. I feel as if my body is fighting me. Gets so frustrating. I know I haven't been as focused with the exercising because of my arthritis and work, but I am still trying to eat right. Just started trying to exercise a little and watching what I put into my mouth more. I have gained about 20+…
  • I am going through the same thing. I am thinking that the BC pill is still in my system though. I don't know how long it will take to get out of it either. I pray that I am wrong an my cycle is on track, but don't know. I am still having issues with the hair growth though.
  • I've been on spiro for years and there has been a noticeable difference for me, especially now that I have been out for a few months. I have hair from toe to head and back down to my heels. I used to be extremely embarrassed by it, until I met someone that loved me the way I am. I nair my legs and use an electric razor for…
  • Biotin is good with hair loss
  • I have been on it for 3 years or more now. No voice changes. I have noticed a big difference in the hair growth. It takes 6 months for it to start showing. After a year is when I was really able to tell. I still shave my face regularly but don't get the 5 oclock shadow at noon anymore. It's been awesome.
  • My last straw was being young and my body falling apart. I hit an all time high in weight and an all time low in life. I had given up. I was tired and sick all the time. I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and Psoriatic Arthritis. I had gotten up to 315 pounds. I couldn't hardly get out of bed because of the…
  • I had some issues with Metformin upsetting my stomach, but not so much now. I am on Spiranolactone 100mg for the hair growth. It takes about 6 months for you to really notice a difference but it helps. I am also on a very very low dose of birth control. I have bad mood swings with out the birth control.
  • I am on 100 mg. I started noticing the difference after about 6 months. And as time went by I noticed more of a change. It's just now in the unwanted areas, except the face, it is down to almost nothing. My doctor told me the face takes longer for it to get to where the rest is, so I am hoping eventually I won't have to…
  • I started getting the excess hair back in high school, I am now 35. I take spironalactone on a regular basis. Didn't notice a difference before but now after 3 years, there is a big difference. I shave daily on my face. BTW the shaving you face makes the hair worse is a myth. My doctor told me to do whatever I prefer that…
  • I understand where you are coming from, expect I have always been big. Stayed in about a 20-22 for the longest, then eventually ended up in a 26. I am 5'4 and got all the way up to 315 pounds. It was devastating for me. I didn't realize how big I actually was at the time. I am now weighing 251 pounds. I still have a long…
  • That's awesome Kimmee
  • I am not maintaining, but I did get tired of tracking, plus I wasn't losing anything at the time either. I lost most of my weight before joining MFP, so I have been using MFP to track my exercise and for the support. I felt when I was tracking I was giving myself reasons to be able to "cheat". It wasn't working and I was…
  • I am on spirnolactone for mine, which has lessen the growth alot, but I still shave every morning.
  • I have my pandora set for Skillet, which it plays them, Three Days Grace, Creed, Nickleback, Breaking Benjamin, plus some others. Not my normal listening music, but gets a good burn.
  • hmm Tom Welling. Love the eyes.
  • Welcome to MFP. I am currently on SBD too, but have a bit more weight to lose. You are welcome to add me if you like.
  • Thanks everyone. Glad to have a few extra friends. Just to let ya know, I do not log my food, only my exercise. Tried logging my food and it didn't work well for me. I found sticking to the South Beach Diet works best for me. I had a cardiologist that recommended it to me and so far it's working great. I mainly use MFP for…
  • It is false that the hair grows back thicker when you shave. If it were true, don't you think more guys going bald would shave their heads more. I have been shaving for years and mine hasn't gotten thicker. Try talking to your doctor about going on spirnolactone. It takes awhile but it does slow the hair growth.
  • Try taking smaller doses and upping it. I am taking only 500 mg and not having the issues that I had when I took larger doses.
  • I have lost 72 pounds so far and been working on it since May 2011. Also have PCOS. It is possible to lose the weight, just a bit frustrating at times.
  • Great post. Glad to have you as a friend as well.
  • celery with peanut butter is a good one
  • You are welcome to add me as well. Been struggling with PCOS since I was a teen but was diagnosed at about 20. Very frustrating. Welcome to add me if you like. Love having cycsters to compare issues with.
  • I've lost an Irish setter, plus a guinea pig
  • I know how you feel. I went through that for awhile. I am blessed with a wonderful stepson and my husband knew from the beginning that we may not have kids, but I struggled with it hard about 6 years ago. We have been married 12 years now. I am working on the weight in hopes that we may be able to have a child without…
  • I am spironolactone, but not for acne. I don't have the acne issues. I am taking it for the unwanted hair growth which it is working great for. I didn't until recently that it helped with blood pressure. I am also on 2 other blood pressure pills and mine is just now starting to be normal, which is probably due to the…
  • I have issues with high blood pressure too. Recently my doctor put me on a low estrogen BC pill. I am also on Spironalactone, which also is used for BP, but has the wonderful side effects of the hair growth slowing and acts as a water pill. Now the Metformin, I have problem taking it consistently. I am trying to, but it…
  • Maybe see if there is a fertility specialist, thats what I had to do to finally get the help I needed.
