I have worked at a tanning bed for many years. A towel will help your face not get tanned but it will not protect your face from the UVB/UVA rays. I would so do it if I lived closer to south california! I did the Mud Run (or that's what they call it here in South Carolina) and it was a blast. Very challenging but once you get through it and accomplish it you feel great. Good luck!
