You can do this. First, does the 15 yr old help out at all? He/she should be able to take some of the responsibility off your shoulders. They are old enough to babysit for an hour or so so you can get some time to yourself. Second, I know you want to lose a certain amount of weight by the time you see your husband, but…

Oh my god. Do yourselves a favor and just break it off, now. It doesn't matter whether he is cheating or not. It really doesn't. You two do NOT have any sort of healthy relationship. You can see that, right? Get some help.

Sometimes the question isn't "how do I motivate myself to change?", but rather "what is motivating me to stay the same?" There's a reason why you aren't willing to make the effort to change your status quo right now--you are more comfortable staying the way you are. Why?

Runmeter has an "indoors" setting to use on treadmills.

I have a lifeproof case (waterproof) on my iPhone and carry it in my bra too (don't have to worry about sweat shorting it out). I NEVER run with anything in my hands. There are way too many robberies where I run and I like to keep my hands free in case I have to fight or I trip. On really long runs, I stick it in a…

When you bought the bike, was it properly fitted? A thorough bike fitting can do wonders for problems like that (numbness, back pain, knee pain, etc). Find a good shop that offers a bike fit service-it's very worth the $$$.

Short version: -it will track the total number of calories you burn each day -how much activity you do (moderate & vigorous, based on MET scale) -how much sleep you get (vs. simply lying down) -the number of steps you take. It can calculate how many calories you would need to consume to create a deficit for weight loss. Or…

Yes! I love it! I'm waiting for them to release a half-marathon training program (since they just did a 5K training program).

You can pick up a reflective vest at most running/bike shops. They are very helpful & visible. Also you can get blinky bike lights that can be attached to clothing. Usually the vest is enough tho. For cold weather, I prefer under armour's cold gear. Layer! You might feel cold starting out, but then as you run you'll start…

Beck's Premium Light Beer-64 calories in a bottle AND its tasty. Love it.

I told mine that he needed to increase his life insurance policy. Because if I was going to be a widow, then at least I was going to be a rich one. It's a tough place to be in. I feel ya.

I'm a police officer & most of the time I patrol on a bicycle-that's good for the exercise, but not so much with packing my own meals. I try to carry snacks (dried fruit, bars, etc) with me in case I get stuck on a scene for hours at a time and I usually have enough room to carry a thermos of soup/stew for a meal. I will…

Of course the Smithsonian museums are a great (and free) activity. You might want to make pick one or two because you could spend months before seeing all the neat things in all the museums. Grab a Capital Bikeshare bike (stations are all over) and ride around the Mall & Tidal Basin. If you are looking for a slightly…

My hair goes to my *kitten*. I only wash it once a week (I hate washing it!). I use a moisturizing shampoo & conditioner when I do wash it. The only products I use in my hair are frizz-preventers/sprays. Braids, headbands & snoods are your friends! If you're hair feels particularly dirty, you can use dry shampoo/talc until…

"I lost 7 in July, I lost 15 in June..." ...so, you ARE getting results. 7lbs in a month is actually very good. If it ain't broke...you know the rest.

a GREAT example of how the scale should NOT be the final determining factor of "success". You are doing awesome!

As someone that has had to very recently help a loved one through the very real & terrible effects of alcohol dependence, I am trying very hard not to virtually beat some people the head with a chocolate bar. Instead, I will just back out of this thread and wonder if the original poster has ever suffered from a seizure…

"Celsius is most effective when combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise" In other words, they are trying to sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo. You don't need it. If you really want a "boost" before a workout, have a cup of coffee, since its really just the caffeine in the drink that gives you "energy". Unless I'm…

I live & bike in a city, and probably a good 60% of the cyclists I see are women. We're out here!

A few days isn't enough to build endurance. It took 3-4 months before I started noticing an improvement. And I ditto the Couch to 5K programs. It really helped me, and now I can run 3 miles without stopping. :-)

A quick google search brought up this company: http://www.supersizedcycles.com/ Looks like they can carry up to 550lbs. The bikes aren't bad looking either. Good luck!

I'm going to try the Eggplant Panini recipe tonight!

it's not a plateau until you've stopped losing weight/inches for more than a few weeks at a time. So, relax. You are still losing, so its not a plateau. Your rate of weightless may have slowed (although I think you need more than one week to determine that), but that's perfectly normal and okay. I go through periods where…

Because I work a swing shift, my days begin & end much later. So terms like breakfast, lunch & dinner didn't work for me-I was usually having breakfast during lunch time. For sanity & consistency's sake I recategorizd my food diary to 4-hour slots. 12am-4am, 4am-8am, 8am-12pm, etc. Now there's no excuse for me to "forget"…

Hi! Welcome to MFP. Good for you for realizing how important your health is at a young age! You are doing great by cutting out the soda. Small changes can lead to big results. Keep up with walking, and try to think up other ways to add in a few minutes of activity everyday (I started off by just doing 15 minutes walking up…

Fitness is 80% diet, 20% exercise. If you're not seeing results from exercise, clean up the diet. It really works. Also don't forget that your body might be changing in composition (muscle/fat) before you see a change in the scale (and it can account for that gain-don't worry, it's temporary).

Are you going over because you are hungry? Bored? Habit? If you open up your food diary, maybe we can make some suggestions. Be sure to include your stats (height, weight, lifestyle activity-sedentary, lightly active or very active).

The Gluten-Free Industry is a $6 billion dollar market and growing. Just something to think about.
