Peppered bacon is an addictive drug and should have its own 12-step program!!

My favorite is Psalm 144.

Hmmm. I'm suspicious of any group that would have me for a member. That said, I've been a Conservative since I worked for the Goldwater campaign in 1964. Still have my Goldwater button. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 2 months ago. Have to take insulin once a day but its encouraged me to lose weight and…

Meh! No one's forcing anyone to access the community message boards. Lighten up, Francis.

I'm avoiding sugar because of type 2 diabetes. To get my sweetness fix I'm eating more fruit. Seems to work in that my average blood glucose levels have dropped big time.

Lighten up, Francis.

My mind, although the rest is pretty good, too. :blushing:

Seems like his doctor would have some ideas. You really need to hook up a physical therapist. Your doctor should be able to refer you to one and your medical insurance could also recommend one, as well. I've recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and the your husband's situation scares the Hell out of me. Best of…

I just ordered one. I really hesitated because i wasn't sure it was necessary, but I'm curious about how my body is reacting to my exercise walks ("death marches"). I'll be watching the Forum, here, for user tips and comments.

Mine's real. The skull is bone and the helmet is Kevlar.

They're jerks. Get in shape and kick their a$$es. The only opinion that matters is your's.

None of my business. If they're happy and supportive of each other, who should care? Robert Heinlein said that love is rare in the universe and should be encouraged where ever its found.

Best of luck to you. Be careful not to overdo. I've found that doing what the doctor says hastens the recovery.

That's a laboratory specimen of a human skull that I've had since high school and was our fencing club mascot when I was in college.. The helmet is one I wore when I wore a green suit. I was once asked if the skull was plastic. I replied, "Of course not. A plastic skull would be tacky!" His name is Yorick (not original,…

No, you're not alone. I'm 62 and its taken a recent diagnosis of type 2 diabetes to get me on track. This time last year, I was about 220 lbs. This week, I'm 188. The blood glucose is coming around although I've got to take insulin. However, I can climb stairs two at a time now -- something I haven't done in years. Next…

Two months ago, I started doing 30 minutes of a "brisk walk" 3 time a week. I'm now up to 51 minute walks 5 times a week. Twenty-four years of jogging have beat up my knees too much, so the daily "death march" is my alternative. I've lost 13 pounds without wrecking my knees and ankles. This week, I'll do six days of 51…

Thanks, I needed that!! Those graphics illustrate the information I've been reading on the 'Net and elsewhere. Thanks for posting.

Twenty-four years in a green uniform got me used to doing exercise in at O'dark:30. However, after retiring I go at about 9am when all the work and school traffic has past. You may need to steel yourself into getting up eariler in the morning to accomplish your workout. Scheduling is always a problem. I could always think…

Congrats!! Nicely done.

Works for me. Might add a shovel, though, for emergencies.

I, too, deal with depression. A visit to my doctor and sessions with a counselor has helped, but it remains a cloud on the horizon. I can suggest that you work to maintain a positive attitude. Getting into better physical condition and losing weight will certainly help you to feel better about yourself and life in general.…
