  • I am wearing size 12 jeans from topshop and a size 12 vest from warehouse. That won't mean much to non UK folk but they are shops that I always dreamed of shopping in. It's well over 15 years since I was in a 12 (I was probably 13/14) and at my highest buying the odd size 20. The scales may not always be kind but I'm a lot…
  • I log everyday and needing active support :-) feel free to add
  • It's net vs gross. 1200 will already take into account a calorie deficit. You don;t absolutely need to eat back you exercise calories, but here's an *example*. 1800 is your TDEE (for maintaining). 1200 is the deficit you have been set/set for yourself. 1200 is what you've eaten today. -400 calories from exercise. =800…
  • Very true - I know my body can do without all the cr@p I think I like to eat!
  • This. People don't like to hear that it's hard work and that I'm not "lucky". On paper that sounds like a fun conversation but I'm bored with it now. Plus with losing weight I am more comfortable in myself, but when the weather is bad I am ALWAYS cold!
  • I do most of the shopping and the cooking, which is fine by me. I buy snacks that we both like that fit in with my calorie allowance, and also buy stuff for him that I know he likes. I don't often have bagels but most weeks I buy them for him. He likes that we eat a nutritionally balanced meal every night and when he cooks…
  • Very nicely put. I can empathise on many levels. We all face hurdles, and we can all get past them. Inspirational as ever!!
  • I would go for a tomato base with garlic and chilli and be careful of the oil. Maybe a touch of parmesan on the top :)
  • If you're doing strength training you should be measuring yourself. I have been static for a while andthen after checking my leasurements I'd lost 5cm on my wasit! Get the measuring tape out :)
  • The thought of exercising never filled me with joy - then I found zumba. Find something you love and can throw yourself into and you will soon want to go more often :)
  • • Gender: F • Age: 29 • Starting weight: 100.8kg • Current weight: 84.2kg • Goal weight: 69.7kg • What are your reasons for wanting to lose weight? to live a healthier lifestyle and be happier in myself • Tell me a bit about your past… weight gain probably began as a child when my parents marriage began to fall apart, and…
  • Always weight at the same time on the same scale in the same circumstances. For me it is first thing, after I have been to the loo and with no clothes on. I like to keep it consistent. And one pound is tiny, it's easily some fluctuation. It could be a salty meal the day before and holding water or TOM coming up, it all…
  • I think I was normal ish til around 7years old? That's when my parents marriage went down the tubes. Then I was living with my mum and stepdad and I look back and wonder how I never got bigger with what we were eating. I had good influences from my dad, and developed a love of cooking. I moved 500 miles away from home for…
  • If they call themselves pescatarians it winds me up less. The worst assumption is from a non veggie that you do eat fish. Sorry, non veggie here, but a few of my family are so I get the veggie rage ????
  • My friends on here totally make this worthwhile. When I have bad days or feel down, they bring me back up! Maybe you are motivated enough to go it alone, but I find my friend group on here makes all the difference :-)
  • I started this going to the gym a couple of days a week, and until a few weeks ago I was at the gym/classes 5 times a week. I lost around 26lbs doing this, and calorie controlling. Then I broke my ankle. I've upped my calories as I used to be based on a bigger deficit but eat back some of my exercise calories. Now I'm on…
  • Another vote for the FT4, got mine on Amazon and I love it :-)
  • I use it for everything, the battery died recently and I had to wait on delivery from buying a new one online. I was guessing my rice and pasta etc and when I got them back I checked... I was a good 30-50% over estimating. Yes it's time consuming, but it's way more accurate. Good luck!
  • The Core - I mean seriously, a drilling train to get to the centre of the earth?! Armageddon. I can't help but love this film, however bad it is, I went to see it at the cinema when I was about 14 :-)
  • I use my polar FT4 (when I am not laid up with a broken ankle!) when I am doing a workout. I had considered doing a 24 hour stint to see what my calories burned on a standard day are, but no day is really quite the same! I always wear it when I am at a gym class, or doing a DVD at home or something, and every now and then…
  • What an amazing feeling, keep at it :)
  • This. I aim to eat back around 2/3 of my exorcise calories, somethimes I eat them all. I try and do it with nutritional foods, i.e, more veggies/lean meat with dinner. Or just a handful of plain almonds. More nutrition to fuel your workouts but not stuffing your face. If you are anything like me it's the eating more than…
  • I just have a regular polar ft4 and for some things it's lower than MFP but for others much higher. I use the FT4 for classes and gym workouts, and justlog walking on MFP. Horses for courses, it will all balance in the long run :-)
  • This. So much stiff here you think is healthy, or at least vaguely light, and it's marketed in such a way. You really have to check the ingredients and calories on everything!
  • I now fit comfortably in UK size 16 jeans, TopShop ones no less! I was struggling to find size 18s that were generous enough, so this is a fairly big deal :)
  • More high end stuff that a) doesn't come in the bigger sizes and b) I can't justify buying while I am losing. I would love a Barbour jacket :)
  • Your diet looks varied enough, I would just say to do what some of the others here have said. Just a handful of almonds would get you there, or add half an avocado to your salad, or a bit more lean protein. Also (not that I do this very well but I am aware of it every day) do you drink enough water? As you don't seem to…
  • BMI is a good guide to start with if you are average, and that is what I have set my goal for; the top weight for healthy BMI. But because I have been doing strength training the nurse at my work says I should use BF% and I tend to agree. I am nowhere near goal yet but I will be re-assessing as I go. No point getting down…
  • Wow. Just wow. What an inspiration!
  • My goal for healthy BMI range is to lose nearly 70lbs. Feel free to add :)
