I had the exact same pattern as yours - weighing every day for the motivation of the early quick weight loss. I knew it wouldn't continue and I'd hit a plateau and that's happened at 31 lbs. I still weigh every day but just to see if I've broken through the plateau at all. I've set an "official" weight day and will log in…

I read on one fitness site today that there's a problem if you go to sleep without eating anything after exercising. Need to replenish; The same site also said that the ideal time to exercise is 2 hours after eating because of the insulin peak then.

Sometimes it's a matter of technique rather than ingredients. Stir frys need to be done at very high heat or the veggies will give off a great amount of liquid - and never put a cover on them. Electric ranges aren't really well suited to woks because there isn't enough heat transfer. And putting too much food at one time…

Basil or Herbes de Provence are the traditional herbs. This is good at room temperature, too. I often just make it with zucchini, green peppers, onions, garlic, fresh tomatos, eggplant. Most traditional recipes call for sauteeing the veggies separately but I prefer roasting them - less oil, more carmelization. I do like it…

While it's true that WBC desires the publicity and is only about 50 people, most members of the Phelps family, the human walls serve the direct purpose of preventing them access to the family. I don't care about the publicity so much as I care about their pain.

Most of the Patriot Riders are former Marines, including a couple of military war dogs who ride in sidecars with their handlers. They do a silent Flag escort for the family. I hope they'll be able to show up in force tomorrow in Columbia.

Could the prospect of you losing weight somehow be threatening to her ego in some sort of warped competitive way?

The pantry is more empty and the produce bin in the fridge more full.

I'd say WW is great for those people who want to buy a magic answer and MFP is for those who want to take control and really know what's going on with their body. I like knowing almost exactly how much weight loss to expect when I step on the scale, based on my caloric intake vs. expenditure. WW points make stepping on the…

I'm in! I've tried 3 or 4 times over the past year, up to 3 weeks smokeless twice. I think it's more difficult than losing the weight. History - pack a day smoker for 50 yrs!

That helped me. Sometimes it's tempting to give up and just hide, but I want that freedom of a life.

Hon, many of us here know too well that feeling of self-loathing for totally losing control of ourselves. I'm glad you're here and hope you get the same empowerment I've found from the daily monitoring, constant progress, and supportive community.

I had the same problem. I ended up using roasted almonds as snacks. High in both calories and nutrition.

I had a terrible time with that milestone. I realized that I was no longer planning for my adult life, but was well committed on the path I was on.

There's a very good quinoa pasta sold in the bulk bins of many health foods stores. I like it better than many pasta alternatives, like whole wheat, because it isn't at all mushy or rough textured. But it's still the devil :-( We get more nutrition per calorie from the whole wheat/corn/artichoke/quinoa postas, but just as…

There's a lovely salad made of shaved fennel bulb with a little shaved good parmesan cheese, dressed with a light olive oil/lemon juice dressing. I've also had a great veggie soup with fennel in it. For things like this, epicurious.com is a great resource because you can search by ingredient.

THIS is what it's all about! Your hard work has really paid off. Congrats!

I'm on 1200 and am finding it pretty easy, but I think that's because I don't do any processed/packaged foods. I find I do better with the larger portion sizes I can have cooking fresh veg, etc. myself. The past few days I've been doing nuts like roasted almonds for snacks. Though relatively high in calories, they're very…

I could have written your post! I just started today, though I've lost 28 lbs on my own in the past 3 months. Cooking has been what made that possible - Indian cauliflower curry planned for tomorrow. I know I'm going to hit plateaus and will need support from friends to get through them. Feel free to add me.
